Don’t do what I did. Buy a plug in too!!
Bought a new alternator for my ford. Put it on didn’t work and got angry!! Requested return due to weekend un-availability of customer service. Local mechanic stopped by and said check the plug in. That was it!! Cancelled return and am completely satisfied with the alternator as it is charging perfectly and quiet.

Perfect replacement part, excellent price, definitely recommended!
We ordered this to replace a failed alternator/regulator on my nephew's '08 F-150. It's a direct replacement and dropped right in. Everything lined up perfect and the connectors all matched up, no issues with installation. It's a new unit, and the local shops wanted more than double for a rebuilt one, and that was WITH providing the old one for a core, and even after paying for next day shipping on this new one. Highly recommended!

06 F150 Lariat...no problems
I was hesitant about buying this since the price was way lower than my local stores. I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Its be fine for me and I haven't had any issues with the alternator.

No complaints from me.
I originally sent in for an RMA because my alternator failed before this one arrived. I needed my truck and had to act fast so I bought one locally. A Dorman is what it ended up being, and cost quite a bit more. I had this boxed up and ready to ship. All I had to do was drop it off when I had the time. Less than a week in, while way far from home doing my job, the Dorman failed, and failed completely. I managed to get home and yanked the Dorman immediately. Being that the DB Electrical was setting at home, I opened the box and installed it. It has been about a month and its still going strong! I am very glad I had not shipped it back yet. Got my money back on the Dorman. If I never get another Dorman product It will be too soon. This is not the first bad experience for me with Dorman products.

How to fix/address "check charging system" light
As stated, this is a new alternator and it is also 130 amps as recommended for your 2004-2008 F150 with V8 engine. If you are buying this alternator to fix your intermittent "check charging system" light then you will also need to buy Dorman 645-136 3 wire connector on Amazon. The plug is more likely the culprit than the alternator. If the battery light is always on then maybe you could blame the alternator but if it is intermittent then it is likely the plug. If you are still having problems after changing both the plug and the alternator then you will need to get a wiring schematic and look at the two wires that travel from the alternator to ECM or a possible fusible link between the battery and alternator. Check videos on Youtube for "check charging system light on f150". Also, if you have a pre 2007 model it might also be the amp sensor that is connected to one of the battery cables. I did not have this amp sensor on my 2007. The "check charging system" light is a huge problem for these trucks and I was determined to fix it because I like this body style F150 and I wanted to keep mine on the road for a long time. Just FYI, I was not having any actual charging issues, no dead battery, no problems starting, etc. Some people experience actual starting and charging issues. If you are having those types of problems it may not be the Dorman plug. Before you start diagnosing the issue I recommend having your battery load tested and also cleaning your terminals. I hope this review helps someone as I struggled with this issue for 6 months. Good luck!

I'm impressed.
This fit and worked like a charm, and the price is right. It comes with a new nut for the battery cable connection and the pulley is a 6 groove pulley just like the original so you don't have to worry about transferring it.
