Works perfectly for my 27" iMac!
This lock fit perfectly into the security slot on my iMac and I was able to install it in just a couple of minutes. I work in a shared office at a university campus-- the door is kept locked most of the time but I wanted to make sure that it would not be easy for someone to steal my computer opportunistically when I wasn't around- or in case someone happened to forget to lock the door. This lock is a perfect deterrent! If you keep your computer in a more high risk area that might be prone to more pre-meditated crimes of theft then I would suggest a heftier lock--however if you work in a relatively secure environment and just want an effective deterrent and some peace of mind--this lock is perfect for you! I also really like the fact that this lock is discrete and out of sight.

Love this lock on my 15" MacBook Pro
I have installed this lock on my 2013 15" MacBook Pro computer. The nub that attaches to the laptop is a tight fit, it feels very secure as it is actually screwed into place, as in a nut and bold design sandwiching the computer body between. The locking device attaches easily to the nub and is allowed to swivel about on the attached nub. The cable attaching to the lock is also allowed to swivel freely creating a fully non-binding connection to my laptop. The cable is very stout, I should think exceeding the expectance of the locking device its self. This cable is vinyl covered and springy, meaning it does not want to be coiled up. It does flex away from your laptop which I do like as it leaves my work area mostly unobstructed. I had read reports complaining about the nub protruding from the computer, and so I thought this must be a bad thing. But after looking at the construction of locks which firmly attach to the computer and having this one, I find the nub is not something to complain about. It is instead a nice feature. The nub is what allows for a quick release and attachment of the lock and allows for the lock to swivel. So far I have not found any issues with the lock scratching the computers body. Another complaint I read about which caused me to hesitate in my purchase. The lock does 'touch' the body of the computer but it is not firmly in contact. The lock is firmly attached to the nub, which in turn is firmly attached to the computers body. The is a slight gap between the lock and the computer itself.

Strong lock, peace of mind
I was really impressed with the quality of the lock. I was nervous purchasing without seeing or feeling the materials and construction, but I'm very happy with this. I also like that there is space for cords to still run out the hole. It feels MUCH sturdier than some of the other Mac Locks you can buy that go into the little locking holes on the devices. I hope to not need this lock to serve it's purpose, but its a nice mental reassurance to at least a bigger challenge for potential thieves.

The Lock to go with.
Having spent several hours looking up various laptop locks, reading and even viewing reviews, and considering the pros and cons listed, I decided on purchasing this one. I wanted laptop thief deterance for 5 to 10 minute absences, with the assurance I can get it on and back off (when I want to leave), without attracting too much attention. It offered keys; usually a superior system. Too many combinations reported as sloppy or jamming: users who set a combination then can't get them to work. And these keys were reported as unique, not the kind that some reported as allowing a master to open them. I didn't like the reviews where some locks were so easy to pick. (they even had videos.) Plus, having 2 keys offered security in that if I couldn't find one, I'd know where I put the other one. A drop of oil or WD40 in the lock right off solves keys reported to stick or wont' turn. The nub you initially set on the computer is nice and tight, allowing a snap of the lock on and off. It feels tight and secure. Plus this product seems a newer generation of design. I think they solved some of the prior problems. The 6 foot cable is adequate. It will halt a santch & grab, while you pop up to the counter or restroom. People who criticized about wire cutters, or hours without oversight are being unreasonable. Once the nub is on the laptop, the whole system (sans keys) is one piece and coils up/fits into a pack or carry case. it goes on and off fast and easy. Price was slightly higher than the middle, but, you get what you pay for, it's been worth it so far. My laptop has always been there when I hustle back in either the library or coffee shop. Addendum: More than a year later, I'm still satisfied.

Easy Peasy Locking Squeezy
This is my first cable lock so I can't speak much from comparisons. I considered getting a combination lock but the reviews on the workmanship of the tumblers left me a few too many doubts. I always carry keys on me so just adding one to my ring was no big deal The disk was super easy to install with the included Allen wrench. I can't fathom why so many people are having trouble getting the thing to work. Insert key, one half turn clockwise opens the jaws, slide over disk, one half turn counter-clockwise closes the jaws on the disk, remove key. To unlock, reverse process. The only drawback is that when you unlock and take your device on the go, the disk sticks out 1/4", so depending on your laptop case it might be troublesome to fit back in if you already have a tight squeeze. Cable is 5' not 6', otherwise excellent
Note that the seller states a 5' length while the manufacturer states a 6' length. It is 5'. 5' is a bit short, I needed 6'. Have had to adapt my setup. Simple pictorial instructions. Be careful not to turn the nub screw too far or it falls off. Easy to reassemble Nub is very secure when properly attached. Lock snaps or slides on easily. It is very secure. Lock rotates and cable attach point has a pivot, so can adapt to all angles. Lock is flat and low profile on the computer. Keys are flat and not too bulky in pocket. Remember to register the code on the key in case you lose it!!! Cable catcher was nice for bundling all the power/usb/internet cables I use when I have it at a desk and locked to the Kensington. Overall, excellent! Would recommend if the 5' cable is enough.

High quality, easy to use. Definitely recommend.
Very high quality. The cable or lock mech could easily be cut, but the idea is to make the equipment "theft resistant" not "theft proof". My laptop is less easy to steal so hopefully a potential thief chooses just to move on to the next office. The permanently affixed security stud is very unobtrusive when not locked down. Slim and low-profile. The stud can be easily removed when not locked up (unscrewed with the provided allen wrench) so if you decide you don't need the lock anymore, it's a 30 second task to remove it. I'm really satisfied that I chose to spend the extra few dollars for this upgraded version.

Great for what it's designed for
Does the job to discourage opportunistic theft. The wrap tie is good quality, works well. I've used it every time I've taken it somewhere, and it works like new to this day. I use it at my desk, in the car when traveling, and even wrapped around a tree root at my favorite campsite. Note that it's a warded lock (not high security) and housing appears to be die-cast (metal not too strong). If a determined thief wants your laptop, they can get it, and quickly. A good quality cable shear would cut it in one second. Don't depend on it for more than it can do, but it's great for what it can.

iMac is secured with this lock.
I recently had to two prowlers scared off from an attempted entry into my home. I want to secure my valuables. One of them is the awesome iMac and the files it contains. This lock is made for today's iMac. They sell it for much more on Apple's website and in it's stores. The Lock fits perfectly and does not draw away from the aesthetics of the iMac's design. The Lock is sturdy and the cable is extra heavy duty. The installation was easy and took no time to accomplish. I also purchased the cable mount to secure the cable to the bottom side desk. I feel that this is enough deterrent to a smash and grab robbery that will keep my computer and files that are on it safe from the home prowler who gets in your home. http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-K64613WW-Mount-Cable-Anchor/dp/B0036RHAFM/ref=pd_sim_pc_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0X50DNQ59NZRJ6VEVD21

This design is much better
I bought laptops locks last year when my son went to college for securing his laptop, external drive and printer. The laptop lock I saw last year all had a little metal T that was part of the lock and was inserted into the security slot of the laptop. But it's really cumbersome to insert and lock. However this design is much better with 2 pieces. The little metal T is a separate component that is inserted into the laptop's security slot. locked down and stays with the laptop. Locking it is just a matter of putting the lock into the small component until it snaps locked. When I purchased this lock, it had a demonstration video that shows you how to use it. When it comes to someone really wanting to steal something, of course they will find a way. But in terms of using this lock, it's much easier and faster.
