Wonderful headset, very well made with many useful features.
What a wonderful device! Well made, pretty and has so many features too. I bought the paired set SMH10-11 that had 2 different microphones because I wasn't sure which was best for my modular helmet. I ended up using the boom microphone on my Nolan N43 Trilogy helmet. The Sena headset comes with a wide selection of mounting accessories too. I installed the speakers easily but decided to install the extra speaker pads too so they were closer to my ears. I'm using this primarily for communicating with other riders in my group. The units work wonderful for talking to each other and have a very long range. We paired the head sets to our cell phones and when we got out of Intercom Range, I voice dialed my friend and we could talk while we got close enough to use the intercom again. In my area, basically, if we can SEE each other, the intercom works and works well. When the Intercom Mode is enabled and on, you just talk back and forth like on a phone call, you can hear the other person talking while you talk, you don't have to wait for the other to stop talking first like a radio or walkie-talkie. I guess that's what Full-Duplex means. I'm not sure if all other headsets work like that but this one does. My Star Raider with straight Cobra Swept pipes and windshield is louder than his full dressed Spyder and while I did not hear any wind noise at all, my friend said he heard 'some wind noise' while I wasn't talking, but when I talked the noise went away. The headset paired perfectly with my iPhone 5C; the phone, SIRI and GPS all worked fine, which was a pleasant surprise. I hadn't tried listening to music yet so don't know how well the speakers perform in that manner, but all regular talking and communications were loud and clear. I'm able to ask Siri to text someone too, very cool. While in Intercom Mode and talking I received a phone call, took the call and when ended it went right back to Intercom. All very easy and not distracting at all while riding. We rode for about 4 hours and the battery was still "full" when I got home, I expect the stated 10-12 hours ride time will be correct. Initially we are very pleased with this Sena model and I'll update the review later after more experience, especially after pairing with more riders in the group.

Great product, but the new model is even better.
I've had these for about 6 months now and used them for over 5000 miles across country on my bike. Sound quality is great and people can hear me very clear as long as I have the chin/wind guard on my helmet even at speeds above 70mph. Battery life is great. When I was riding 8 hours a day I never ran out of energy as long as I charged it a few hours the night before. Now that I only use it an hour or two a day, I only have to charge it about once a week. I installed it in a HJC SY-MAX 3. The speakers were just a little big for the holes, but I'm not 100% sure it was made for that exact helmet. I just kinda forced 'em in and haven't had any problems with it. Installation was pretty straight forward and easy. If I had one complaint, it would be the controls and the fact that it looks a little bulky on the side of the helmet. Although, you get use to the size. The newer model takes care of the buttons control ease and bulky issues.

Excellent device!
I was looking for a good helmet communicator, primarily for my music needs. I had been looking at the Sena 20s but decided the price difference between that and the SHM-10 was enough to sway me. Lots of features and the battery life is great. I use it mostly to and from work, about 20 minutes each way, on a daily basis charging it about once a week and I have yet to run out of battery during a ride. Sound quality is as good as I was expecting considering how small the speakers are and I am able to hear my music well even at highway speeds. Phone call quality is OK, I can hear others well however, using the smaller wired mic (not the boom) others have reported some wind noise. Being able to utilize Siri while riding has been a big plus. Overall this device meets and in some areas exceeds my expectations, is easy to use once you read the user manual and was very easy to install.

000 mile now and it works great. We (wife and I) get 10 to 12 ...
I've used this for over 10,000 mile now and it works great. We (wife and I) get 10 to 12 hours of use (music and intercom mostly some phone calls) on a full charge. Wind noise is normally not a problem behind a wind screen bike but a naked bike it gets noisy above 50 MPH. Range is mostly line of sight and gets scratchy over 5 or 6 hundred yards. I have paired with other brands and not all functions work the same but figured how make it work ok. Very easy to set up and use. I also found that when we stop for gas talking through the intercom is way better than yelling at each other with helmets on. We now think of this as a safety device as well.

Wish we could have gotten them sooner.
We've used these for phone calls, talking to each other but not for the music so much as our phone batteries drain too much for the music. We use the music on the bike instead which is perfectly fine for us. Wish this could integrate with our CB on the bike, I am sure they will make some kind of add for it. My husband does complain about the noise issue on my microphone from the wind, but that is how I have it turned, when I get it turned properly the wind noise is quite low. Sometimes we need to turn off the headsets cause they lose the syncing with the other headset while riding, that is annoying but it does resolve itself without having to do anything significant. We took them on a long weekend and we did not charge them at all during the trip. They lasted the entire trip, we both were quite impressed. Probably got about 15hrs out of them, just using them for phone usage and talking to each other and then stand by. It is easier to move the dial and turn off the button without gloves but my husband wears gloves all the time and doesn't have issues. I wear gloves primarily during the colder months and mine are thicker than his. It is not as easy but I can do it. We would buy these again.

5 out of 5 - would buy again
I really enjoy my Sena. I have to take a lot of phone calls for work, and no one I've talked with seemed to even know that I was riding - if I were doing less than 50ish MPH. At highway speeds, with wind noise, there's not quite enough volume for phone calls, GPS or music. I use an HJC CL17 - not the quietest helmet available. Before I owned the Sena, I would use Plugfones for highway riding. This Sena unit, pairing with the Sena Earbud Adapter Cable was the solution. For local, lower speed trips, I use the Sena alone. For longer highway trips, I use a set of PlugFones and the adapter cable. Problem solved. A bit of cable management is needed, but not a huge deal. The bass response isn't amazing, but is certainly better than no music at all. The lack of bass doesn't effect the ability to make clear phone calls, hear GPS directions, or bob your head along with the beat of some tinny, trebily tunes. During a phone call, the person on the other end cannot hear the motorcycle engine at all. Not even a throaty rev-bomb. But they CAN hear the horn.

And so far I'm happy that I did
So when I bought these, I was expecting to be able to plug earbuds into them. That was not the case, and it made me quite bummed out. I decided to go ahead and try out the speakers before dropping another 40 bucks on the mount that would allow me to use earbuds. And so far I'm happy that I did. The speakers actually work really well. I can hear phone conversations, music, GPS, etc. They're awesome! Installation was really easy for me as well. And since I bought the dual pack, my girlfriends helmet now has one of the units also. This will make longer rides on the motorcycle possible for her, as now she can listen to music instead of just road noise. I do have to say, though, it's REALLY hard to tell where the phone button is when you have thick gloves on. I was trying to push it to ask for directions, and I could never tell when I had it. Same thing for the jog dial. Was trying to change music tracks, and I had no idea if I was actually spinning it. These were winter riding gloves I was wearing, though, so this is not totally unexpected. Pros -------------------------------------------- 1. Easy installation 2. Speakers actually work pretty well, so I might not need to switch to earbuds. 3. Excellent microphone tech, nobody could tell I was on a motorcycle during the phone calls. 4. Works out of the box with my Nexus 6p phone. Cons -------------------------------------------- 1. I have a modular helmet, and the boom mic, while the best option for this, and installed inside the helmet behind the cheek pad, is a pain to adjust anytime I open or close the face. NOTICE - this is just due to the type of helmet I have, and is not reflected in the rating of this product. This is simply a con that I want to let other people who have modular helmets know about. 2. tons of wires that have to be accounted for when installing into the helmet. I don't know if we could make everything wireless, but my helmet now has a vast network of wires running around underneath the padding. 3. The small phone button and jog dial are difficult to feel if you're wearing thick gloves. Also impossible to tell if you've actually pushed the button or spun the dial.

Easy tio use, long batteryr life, excellent range
Easy to install and use. We bought this about a year ago. My wife and I use it every time we ride, each on our own motorcycle. Has proven to be reliable. The range is surprisingly long, we can talk to each other when 300 yards or several city blocks apart. There is no need to be within sight f each other. I also use this as a hands free phone device. Works well. And can be used with Android phone for GPS type directions. It will not work simultaneously as a hands free phone device and an intercom to talk to other riders. It is necessary to change channels, which can be a nuisance as both riders can end up cycling through the channels for a while before reconnecting. It would also be better if the volume increased automatically with wind noise. But these are minor gripes on what is overall an excellent Headset.

Sena Communicator
We purchased the Sena SMH10D-11 for our motorcycle helmets. We previously purchased the Scala Pro Rider at $400.00 and returned them after 4 uses. They are difficult to turn on and of, did not connect to each other without hours of tinkering with, always had to re-connect with difficulty, died after a few hours of use, charging them overnight. The Scala had invisible buttons that were not easy to press. The Sena are awesome, right out of the box, set up took a couple minutes, Bluetooth was instant, betw. helmets, iPhone. The music from my iPhone sounds excellent in stereo. I love that it has a (jog)dial to turn volume up & down, it makes it so much easier. Also, has a flat microphone that Velcros to the inside of your helmet so you don't have to use the boom mic. it's almost invisible that it's there, if you use a full face that is. Sena was $100. less but 100% better. Love IT

Great product!!
Already had the same unit, and purchased this other one for my Son. So nice to be able to communicate with each other when we are out on motorcycle rides, works great. Update 04/21/2019 Have used of units for over two months on several road trips, and they have worked great, so nice to be able to communicate with my Son while out riding, also great to listen to the music I have downloaded into my smartphone while out on long road trips. It paid for itself on one road trip, as far as I'm concerned my Son had taken off and was about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile ahead of me when I had a issue on my bike and had to pull off to the side of the highway, but was in contact with Son, he was aware of my problem and turned around to help me out. You won't be disappointed with your purchase of this product, such a great addition to your riding gear.
