I ordered this by mistake (I really wanted the Lil' Tuffy). However, I decided to keep both, as this is a really excellent product. Dispute an initial problem installing it (solved by actually reading the instructions), my 6-pound, 11-week old puppy quickly quickly learned how to use the small door and his head is too large to fit through the bars. Why the Lil' Tuffy? Because the Tuffy was just a little too high for my 5' 7" wife to step over. I use the Lil' Tuffy to keep the puppy in the kitchen and the regular Tuffy when I need to bar him from some other room.

Ah! Finally! My chihuinie (chihuahua/dachshund) is a little anxious one. He's 14 now, and has chewed through several plastic, even coated wire gates. He's squeezed through a metal gate before also. He recently lost a tooth on the last gate and my husband was ready to give him back to my mom. I looked for a metal gate that could help us. I really appreciate that these bars are less than 2 inches apart. I read reviews that say to ziptie the little door, and we did. He has chewed at the bars but hey, IT WORKS! He has not escaped and these gates saved our marriage. :) Thank you!

I couldn't be happier with these inexpensive gates. We purchased two of them for our kitchen. The are short enough to easily step over (even for me and I'm only 5'3"), but tall enough to keep our 10-week Aussiedoodle where she belongs. I didn't even notice the "cat gate" feature when I initially purchased them, but it has been great! My 6-year old Corgi can easily walk in and out of it when it's opened for him - this saves my back from hoisting him over the gate multiple times a day.

It's nearly perfect and does exactly what it's supposed to... keeping the dog out while letting the cats through. My only complaint is that there is no obvious neat way to keep the miniature door open all the time. It doesn't sit flush while open and tends hang open 90 degrees from the opening which is a serious tripping hazard. It's solved easily enough by a twitst tie or two but it's an oversight nonetheless.

I love the fact that my 3 stooges can no longer trail me in and out of every room of the house! When I'm rushing around trying to do house work or home business, they're all right behind me and I usually end up tripping over them. Now they stay in one area and I can run my marathon without repeating the phrase "outta the way, outta the way" lol The gate is short enough to step over and the small dogs can even fit through the pet door if I leave it open. The fat one in the middle doesn't stand a chance! I bought a second gate just to have as a back up which speaks to how much I love this gate!

sturdy, well made and easy to install. I now have four. After using these gates for a month or so I thought I would share some things I learned. One reviewer said the small door wouldn't stay all the way open. If you tilt the top of the gate ever so slightly in the door frame, gravity will keep the door closed. I had to install one against Sheetrock and I was concerned the black rubber bumpers would mark the wall. I purchased self adhesive felt pads at Lowes for under $4 and cut them to size (see photo). Perfect padding and no marks. Hope this helps.

I've spent hours researching pet gates and finally got this one. I have a small breed dog, a teacup Morkie (Yorkie/Malese) who is 6 pounds at most. After I rescued her, I put up a dog gate that I already had and she was able to chew right through the plastic wire material and walked right out. So I jumped on Amazon to buy a metal gate. The problem is that every other dog gate on amazon and in the stores is made of slates wide enough for a small breed dog to walk or wiggle through. I would search the reviews for keywords like "small breed" or "yorkie" and sure enough, every gate had some people saying their little ones could make it through the gate or the side of the gate where it tends to be wider. The Carlson gates were the only ones that didn't have that problem and also stated that the spacing between slates was 1.75" so I settled on them. I liked that they have different heights as well. I didn't want a tall gate because I'd like my cats to be able to jump in and out of the room to keep the dog company if they please. And it couldn't be too, too short or even my small dog could jump over it. This is the perfect compromise and its working great. I don't use the cat door feature since my dog happens to be smaller than my cats but it's a nice bonus anyway. I like the way it latches. It has two components that allow for perfect fine tuning to your doorway. Overall, I am thrilled at this gate, especially the great price and highly recommend it for use with small breed dogs.

I purchased this gate to keep my dogs out of the closet where the litter box is. I've had issues with my dogs making themselves physically sick because they wont stop getting in the litter box. vet bills are expensive and I had to do something. This did the trick. my dog literally looked at the gate with sadness for about 2 hours when we first set it up. she kept looking at us to see if we were going to eventually move it. she then went to her kennel to pout for the rest of the evening. it was hysterical and pitiful all at the same time. Mommy is very happy with the gates and the cats can finally use it in peace. the doggos will get over it. lol

My dog is about 60lbs retriever hound mix and very agile. Typically he'll leap over anything when he's detetmined. We had to keep him away from the grand kids due to allergies etc. He was chompin at the bit to get to them and I just knew he was going to jump over the gate. But the height of the gate was enough to deter him. Honestly all he needed was a running start. But I won't Tell'em. Lol! It worked great I'm very pleased. 👍👍

This gate has been so easy to use once you grasp the idea that the little buttons on the doggie door and on the long arm pull UP. Once you have that down, you are in business! This is a lightweight device that does the trick simply, I have used mine for the last few months and have only had one problem with it—I forgot to lock the doggie door a few times. No big deal, my puppy slept with me🤪 Great price, efficient to use, fun to play tricks on ur pup with the door and easy to clean.
