perfect for kids! and as a stud finder!
We bought these for an activity with small groups in our kids ministry. But the next week, I was hanging up file hangers by the door in each room. And I kept hitting metal studs (it's a commercial building). My preschool leader said "use a magnetic wand!" since we didn't have a stud finder and sure enough - these things were strong enough to find the studs!

Fit my needs
Lost my small horseshoe magnet but needed something inexpensive for my tool box and sewing basket; gave extras to my grandson who loves playing with them. I used it as a stud finder and worked great; very strong magnet to be able to find nails under paint on drywall or pick up dropped pins from sewing basket. I'm very please with my purchase.

I bought these for an independent kindergarten science center and they're great. The magnets were strong enough to work through plastic, as I put items to be tested in individual plastic container (less for kindergartners to fuss with). The handles made them very easy to use with small hands.

Bingo 4 Learning
How can these be anything more than perfect? We got a bingo game to play with our three children, while also working on the 7 & 4 year old's numbers, and the 2 year old's colors. Having the metal edged chips make the game more fun for the kids because they get to use their magic wand magnets. Ordered the metal edged chips separately from the bingo game, for the fun but also because more chips than come with the bingo game itself, so we are also able to let the kids fill their cards with their favorite colors -- which of course match the wands!

Love these magnets
Love these magnets. Bought them for the kids. They are nice and strong which you don't often find anymore. The kids like to go on treasure hunts around the house in search of things that are magnetic. Excellent buy!

Great Solution
Have used for various classroom investigations and demos in junior high and high school. Plastic coatings make clean up easy. Not super strong but strong enough to get iron filings to respond to magnetic field and generate a weak electric field through a coil. I like that they are big and not easily pocketed.

ETA hand2mind, 8" Magnetic Wands, Set of 6, (6592)
I used to be able to buy these in the dollar stores ($1 for one wand), but now have to shop on Amazon.com to find these. I love these magnetic wands as I use them on my fridge to hold recipes, coupons and other paper items. Love the variety of colors in this 6-wand set and the magnets are really strong -- a great hold!

Great teaching tool
I purchased this because I misplaced one I had. I had used that one to teach my 7 year old grandson how to pull iron from sand. He got so excited that's all he did for about half an hour. When he came over a few months later he asked for the magnet but I couldn't find it. A couple of months ago when he came over (he's 9 now) I told him I bought a bunch of magnets. He started pulling more iron from the dirt and we fill 1/2 of a medicine bottle with it. I showed him how to make the iron "dance" and what happens when you try to put to like poles together. I learned something too. Sand usually has small pebbles. I found out that some of them are magnetic!

Safer to play with than bare supermagnets.
You don't want kids or other people handling bare supermagnets, they crash together and pinch or break and throw off pieces at high speed. These are a great solution for this. The magnets are reasonably strong and completely covered in plastic. Buy some Fe304 or iron filings, place it between two sheets of plexiglass, and play with these. Great for learning about magnets and magnetic fields.

I lost my magnetic sewing wand somehow, and was very upset. I couldn't believe finding these on Amazon as it was just what I had, but I was always carrying it all over the house for something or another, now I have put one in almost every room so I will have them when needed.
