Works great, with fast assembly on the job site
Very happy with this hitch crane as, it works perfectly and assembles on the job site within minutes! Bought this for lifting wood into my F250 that is typically to heavy for me to do with manual labor. This crane worked like a charm and without issue.... I can tell you that it lifted freshly cut oak rounds at about 3 feet in diameter without issue. A few things to note based on other comments. I have an F250 and the hitch height was perfect. However, I did notice that the legs are adjustable for height, so I don't see it being an issue for lower trucks. Disassembly from the truck when fully loaded, was easy and didn't run into the issue of not being able to disassemble like others mentioned. The pump action of the lift does make it a little slow but as mentioned, it lifted some fairly heavy rounds.... Also, construction seemed to be fairly strong as well, with good welds, as nothing flexed, even with the heaviest of loads. Now for first assembly, the instructions were absolutely horrible... As an example, there are four total bolts with three different sizes but the instructions only list "bolt" in the instructions, so it did take some guessing to proper assembly. Still, did not take long to assemble but something I wish the manufacture would fix. However, again, once the initial assembly is taken care of, this thing goes up in minutes on the job site.

perfect generator lifter
I give this 5 stars because it works perfectly for me. See attached picture. The arm doesn't reach too far, so I had to move my generator close to the lift on the outside, jack it up, and then put it on the tailgate to get into the bed of the truck. Not a big deal for me, as rather than crawling in and out to attach/detach, it's all on the tailgate with easy access for me. All arrived well, couple of dents on the box, but the product was all good. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble (and figure out) the first time, but now that it's all together and in 3 pieces, it'll only take me 1-2 minutes to setup and take down. It works perfectly for me to do all I need to by myself, rather than rely on someone coming to help. ;)

This will also be useful for loading the pressure washer
Problem: Generac 8000E generator I own is needed at the church parking lot to power lights for a "trunk or treat" activity. It weighs 255 lbs. Need a way to load it on my DW's GMC Sierra 2500 HD to transport it to church, then unload it. Solution: MaxxHaul 70238 Receiver Hitch Mounted Crane with 1000 lb lifting power close to hydraulic jack, 500 lb at crane end. Ordered from Amazon, and it arrived UPS in two days. Took about an hour to unpack from the beatup shipping box and assemble. Directions were sparse but illustrations were sufficient to help get it all together. No parts missing, There was one extra hitch pin and lock pin. After assembly I rigged a pair of axle straps on the frame of the generator and picked it up with the crane then set the generator down on the tail gate of the truck. Rolled the genny into the bed, strapped it down, broke the MaxxHaul crane down into the three pieces and placed them in the bed of the truck. Drove to church, reassembled the crane in about two minutes, and unloaded the genny from the truck. After the event, two young men loaded the genny on the truck for me. I took it home and reassembled the crane (about one minute this time, practice helps) , unloaded the genny from the truck then broke down the crane into its three main parts and stored it in the garage, ready for the next lifting job. This will also be useful for loading the pressure washer, and the 5th wheel sliding hitch that are two heavy for this old man to load, unload by myself. Having this crane opens up many possibilities.

A Great Lifting Rig!
This is a clever little rig that is very helpful in getting small but heavy and/or awkward items from the ground and into the back of a pickup. Things like generators, stump grinders, brush cutters for example. Initial assembly was easy and once the major components are bolted together you don't have to do it again since they are held in place by quick release clevises. The boom assy is a bit heavy to move around but manageable. The boom length is restricting, but so long as it I can get in the tailgate it can be positioned in the bed. The main bearings are very robust and smooth. At $188 it's a terrific value. Another seller has this apparently exact same model but in orange for nearly twice as much. What's up with that? I love this one... it's well made, keep me from humping things up a ramp and saves my back.

Beast of a Truck Crane
When this arrived the packaging was beaten up pretty well. Inside the cardboard was wooden sheet reinforcement, which is good. All the parts were there. It's simple to assemble. The parts are HEAVY, which shows this crane's strength. I modified it right away, installing a 2,500# electric winch on it. Tested it by picking up some firewood rounds up to 3' in diameter. It picked them up effortlessly. This will save my back while moving bulky/heavy items. The paint on this is thick and I expect it to protect the crane for years. Other (bolt in bed) truck cranes require reinforcement to the truck bed. This monster it good to go as soon as put together (about a 15 minute job). Glad I bought it, would purchase again!

Smooth and well designed
This hoist is a great help for lifting heavy objects into a truck. The components were packaged well to prevent damage. Assembly was easy using the instruction sheet. All the parts fit together easily. The smoothness of the boom was impressive. The base of the boom has two large bearings. When assembled, you can swing the boom with one finger. The hydraulic lift cylinder operates well, lifting the boom to about 7 ft above the ground. When you are finished, the crane breaks down quickly into a couple of main parts, with built-in velcro straps to hold it together for easy handling and storage.

love this product
the only uncomfortable thing is fixed length chain hook. Sometimes your strap just an inch short. I have added a small winch that attaches into 2 of the hook holes and this is a wonderful thing. I have easily loaded tree chunks by myself into my truck and trailer that 2 men could not lift off the ground and could barely roll. watch out for crane swinging if you not working on flat ground. This crane is awesome. I was looking into getting one that attached directly into truck bed but decided against it because truck bed needs to be reinforced where you would attach the crane. Many videos on youtube showing how bed gets damaged under load. Would need to weld/drill to install proper support. Nothing to do with hitch model. Slide lock and ready to go. Also if you put in double hitch attachment you can use it to load things into trailer as well. Recommendation put a small jack under your hitch. Load will push your springs down putting increased load on your crane legs. It does get hard to impossible to disconnect otherwise.

Nicer than I expected
First of all this pickup truck crane was heavy, it was packaged well enough to survive USP shipping without any damage. The components are well made and just to be sure I inspected all welds to ensure the thing wouldn't fall apart on me. The thing that impressed me the most was the two large ball bearings on the rotating pedestal rather than just a bare metal sleeve. It takes a bit of time to install but it is well worth it in the end because of it's capabilities. A very well made product and well worth the money spent.

saved my back!
if you are tired of trying to figure out how to get pallet size in and out of a truck. this is well worth the $ . Looks like it should hold up for some years. already tested at 350lb pallet. keep an eye on legs might need some adjustment after you put load on.

MaxxHaul hitch crane makes it easy to load/unload heavy items to/from pickup truck bed
Within 5 hours after receiving package, I assembled the crane and used it to load a 400 pound Generac 15000 watt generator onto my pickup truck all by myself. No problem, although I needed to maneuver the generator very close to the crane while initially lifting off the floor (upper arm is rather short). The assembly instructions were poorly done with small, grainy photos and hard-to-follow descriptions of bolts and connections. Despite the weak instructions, I was able to figure it out and found the crane to be well built and very functional. I am already thinking of new ways to use it.
