Haven't tried to make hot soup since the weather is getting hot, but I have done several times making smoothie and homemade instant 'ice cream' especially the healthy version by swapping heavy cream to Greek yogurt or ice treat by adding crushed ice cubes. I know I can also do it on my food processor, but this is a high power blender and it will be my kitchen staple for many years to come.

This isn't just a blender. That's what you have to tell yourself to actually spend the money on one of these things. I know there is that age old debate about Vitamix vs Blendtech but I've never tried a Blendtech because our Vitamix has been a work horse for years of daily use and still keeps going! It's what my parents had, it's what everyone in my family has and they all love it as much as we do. I guess it's kinda like Ford vs Chevy. ;) Anyway, I'm going to make this short and sweet. Our 3 year old son has autism and severe sensory issues making him the pickiest eater on the face of the planet. That being said, he will drink just about anything we put in his cup as long as it passes the look, smell and texture tests. If it weren't for the Vitamix I don't know how we would've fed our child and made sure he got the protein, fresh fruits and vegetables etc. that his little growing mind and body need. We can sneak ANYTHING into his smoothies and he has no idea because the Vitamix works so incredibly well at blending everything flawlessly. No chunks, no pulp, no fuss! Smooth and creamy and delicious no matter what we throw in there! Not only do we use this every day for his "dinner", but I use it every day for my green smoothies and my husband uses it for his protein shakes. This thing has taken a lot of abuse and gets a pretty intense daily work out of frozen fruits and ice cubes etc. and it still works like it did when we bought it FIVE YEARS AGO. We haven't had to replace parts or have any maintenance done. Just regular cleaning and care. Boom. This is so much more than a blender, it's a way of life.

Just ordered a 3rd Vitamix 5200. I have had two since 2001. They each lasted about 8 years with heavy use. I use them in a small Espresso bar and I figure they each blended 25,000 to 40,000 drinks each before dying. Through the years I would have to replace the blades when the bearings wore out on them, the plastic gear hub on top of blender when it stripped and the blender container once in a while because of cracks. I tried a Oster blender first and it didn't last a month. For home use the Vitamix should go for ever.

Extremely nice and after using and discarding numerous other blenders I may have found the correct one to use. First use; Had a moment of absolute dim witlessness and left a metal spoon in the blender. Completely my fault. Called Vitamix customer service and got a free replacement canister and spatulas on the warranty free shipping, such a deal. Also bought the shorter canister and am happily using this blender daily. Most satisfied with this blender.

I am addicted to Smoothies--actually, my whole family is, and it was getting really expensive to spend the cost equivalent of a Venti latte for 3 people several times a week at our local smoothie shop. One of my best friends from college told me about the Vitamix, and I really never thought much about it, as they were priced in the neighborhood of $450 at the time. But since my family's obsession with smoothies was beginning to cost us in the 4-figures over a period of about 6-8 months, I thought about the Vitamix again--particularly since they are used at our smoothie shop. And then one fortuitous Saturday morning in October I got a text from Amazon that the Treasure Truck was in town with a fantastic deal on none other than the Vitamix blender. Since then, it's become a love affair with a kitchen appliance. And who could NOT love an appliance with a SELF-CLEANING FUNCTION that actually gets the job done very well! As far as it's functionality, it has an incredibly powerful motor that crushes ice instantly. It is not nearly as loud as I thought it would be, which was a very pleasant surprise. I am hyper-sensitive to noise, and this is very tolerable, especially since it works so quickly. Once you have a favorite recipe (and it comes with a book of them!) that you have down pat, it takes less than 2 minutes to blend a full pitcher of ingredients. It has proven to be a very worthwhile investment, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a high-powered blender that isn't going to burn out after a dozen or so times of making frozen drinks with ice. Definitely a great purchase!!

Love this blender. Did a side by side comparison with the other popular brand ( starts with a B) . everything that we put through the Vita mix blended as promised. The other blender could not even blend a raspberry shake well. It was full of seeds. The vitamix however blended smooth and creamy. go with the vitamix. You wont be sorry.

I love this blender! My old blender was a very good Cuisinart one but it struggled with my smoothies. I would slice up all the hard stuff for it, like carrots, ginger root, etc. I also throw frozen things into my smoothies like frozen bananas, blueberries or strawberries. The old blender would work hard, you could hear it. I was afraid that it would eventually burn out plus the smoothies came out with little chunks of the harder vegetables in them. With this Vitamin I do not even have to cut things up much at all. I will maybe break a carrot in half but I can just toss in a chunk of ginger, add any other fruit and vegetables including a hunk of lime with the skin on and ramp this blender up. I start on low, turn the dial up and then hit the lever for max. It sounds almost like a jet engine starting up, much quieter of course, but with that kind of power. The smoothie comes out silkie smooth and the blender does not struggle at all. It is a beautiful and delicious thing. As a plus this blender will even heat up stuff you put in it from friction so you can make soups. I chose this model with the tall thin container because I saw tests that showed the shorter wider containers in all blenders caused a lot more turbulence and thus incorporated more air causing the smoothie texture to be a bit less palatable. The only issue for some (and I already knew this so was prepared) is that the blender will probably not fit on the counter under an upper cabinet. I just store it with the container beside the motor.

For a while I didn't get all this fuss over a blender, then this blender went on sale and I had hankerings for Lava Flows. This machine is a powerhouse. So far it's been used for salad dressings, flan tempering, and too many blended alcoholic drinks. It is quiet enough to operate and handy to have on hand. In the beginning I tried to power crank it to blend large ice cubes and the motor started sounding dangerous, only to realize that shifting the ingredients with a spatula was a smarter move than ruining an expensive piece of equipment. Being 5'2", I thought its towering height would bother me. It did but so what if I have to stand on my tippy toes for a few seconds? Storage is a little bit of an issue though so the pitcher and the main unit must be stored separately in the pantry. I'm generally very happy with it and found myself using it more than anticipated.

I need more than a 5 Star option here!!! Just made my first smoothie and realized the ones I made before now were a joke compared to this, everything (including spinach) blended so perfectly, it is like sipping on tasty liquid velvet. I also have an Omega juicer which is great but also extremely time consuming, nutrient absorption and overall used produce/ other ingredient content between the 2 methods is very different and both are beneficial in their own ways, but this blender is a super fast prep/ combine/ clean up deal making it a way better option for getting fresh nutrients on the go. I thought it was surprisingly quiet and is only loud in the higher speeds and with smoothies will only be used very briefly (less than a minute) judging by what I made today which included frozen fruit. Daily life and habits will never be the same and I’m sooooo happy I finally dropped the cash for this!!!

If Chuck Norris was reincarnated as a blender...this would be it. It turns ice into snow and can liquify diamonds. I am thrilled to finally own one and expectations have been exceeded.
