I drive a 2001 Ford Expedition that doesn't have a latch system or a middle headrest. My babies car seat is in the middle of the second row. Since their is a third row I don't have anything to connect a mirror to. I got a mirror for my baby shower and could not use it. I finally went online and noticed this one. It works perfectly. I have it anchored to the car seat headrest located right behind the driver seat pivoted in an angle so I can see her in the middle seat. I can see her face just as much as I would be able to see her if it was mounted right above her. It does not shake, move, or need to be readjusted. I love that I can now see my baby while driving. She's the baby that cries hysterically during every drive so I can now have a piece of mind knowing she's safe. (The caterpillar is blocking the babies face in the pic but you can see the detail of her hand and chest strap. I took this pic for more of a mounting reference)

This little mirror is one of the few items that falls into "my favorite/most used baby items" list. As a first time mom I have bought an unbelievable amount of stuff. Mostly stuff that we hardly use or wasn't as useful as I originally thought it would be. That is not the case with this mirror. Let me tell you what I love most about it: - securely fastens to the headrest on my CR-V - no worries that it will fall off onto baby - mirror does not have that distorted look to it that some baby mirrors do - seems to be made of quality materials, it looks really hard to break - baby loves watching us/herself in the mirror. More on that below. - It is incredibly easy to see baby from the front seat (except at night of course). As much as I love this mirror, it seems like the baby loves it even more. She frequently looks at mom and dad in the front seat through the mirror. She also loves to make faces, play peek-a-boo, or just stare into the mirror. I hardly ever have to put toys in the car seat with her because she is so easily entertained by the mirror (she is 11 months old right now). When we went on vacation we did not bring the mirror and there were more crying fits in the car than she has probably had in her entire life. I really believe it was because she didn't have the mirror for entertainment and she couldn't watch mom and dad. If I sat in the back with her, she was fine. For under $15 it is worth trying out this mirror, I am sure you will love it!

I bought this mirror after reading review after review of the various mirrors here on Amazon. This mirror is large and durable so it doesn't get contorted. I have this mirror in my car and my husbands. Both aimed at baby so I can see this mirror in my rear view mirror at a glance and see my baby is okay. You wouldn't think you need to keep checking on a baby when driving but I have heard stories of kids vomiting in their car seat or putting some odd small object in their mouth and the parents not realizing until it's too late. I understand the odds of that happening are super slim but this mirror gives me the piece of mind I needed while commuting wherever with baby. Two problems you might encounter -- first it is technically unsafe to put anything near your child's carseat. In the event of a serious accident the carseat essentially creates a closing clam shell to protect your child. If a mirror is directly in front of your child it could cause injury. Consider instead placing the mirror as far to the side as possible and then angling it down to face your child. Second you really need a headrest to attach this to. Some seat designs have weird headrests and this might not attach so be prepared for 20 minutes of adjust/squishing/tightening to get this mirror to safely secure to your headrest (if it fits).

As parents who choose to rear face our children in the car until at least the age of 2 we have used several backseat mirrors including the Brica Baby In-Sight Mirror and Brica Day & Night Light Musical Auto Mirror. Particularly once the baby/toddler is in a rear-facing convertible seat with a tall shell, I like being able to glance back and make sure that the child is OK. My vehicle does not have a center head rest, so when we only had one child and her seat was in the center, I would install the Brica mirrors but they flopped and slid without having a head rest for support. I could not install the mirror on one of the outboard head rests and angle it so that the child in the center positioned seat was visible, and the mounting method for a seating position without a head rest is crummy. Even when the car seat is in a seating position with a head rest, it's a battle to get the Brica mirror set up properly. You install it, then run to the driver's seat to check if you can actually see the baby or if you need to change the angle, which requires removing the mirror, trying to adjust the angle properly, and re-installing it! It is a frustrating, iterative process. We have been generally happy with our Britax Boulevard 70 car seats for our older daughter and when I saw the Britax mirror I decided to give it a try. Talk about simple! You simply buckle the mirror onto the vehicle head rest using vertical and horizontal straps, then pivot the mirror so that it is properly positioned for viewing from the front seat. There's no need to remove it, adjust it, and re-install it in order to hopefully get a good view. The mirror itself is clear and undistorted. It has installed very easily and quickly in both my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and my husband's 2001 Toyota Camry. Right now our 3 year old is forward facing but I use it to see our new daughter who rides in a Chicco Keyfit 30. I've appropriated the Britax back seat mirror that we already bought and we're ordering another one for his car. The price point is comparable to the Brica mirrors but it is much easier to install and use - it's a no brainer! Note: we are well aware that CPSTs are supposed to tell you that these mirrors are a bad idea because they can become projectiles in the event of an accident, and that they can distract the driver. We have made a parental decision to use them anyways. Frankly, in the event of a major collision I have much bigger concerns than the possibility that a backseat mirror will come loose! Also, I have never found the mirror distracting since I peek back only when at a stop sign or light.

One of the best baby-related purchases ever. Bought this almost 3 years ago. From checking out the newborn in the mirror to the little guy being able to see me driving to entertaining himself in it - it's served every purpose I expected. And now with the next minor dilemma of parenthood - in-car entertainment system and the rear-facing-car seat - my littlest (yes he's under 2 and watching tv on long trips) - watches the screen in the mirror (he's in the seat closest to the screen so may not be as useful in the back of a minivan). I really can't ask for more. Clear HUGE screen, easily adjustable to any angle - straps with two buckle straps ( vertical and/or horizontally oriented). One of the buckles did break off but it functions just fine without it. I have used it on the headrest next to babe so it didn't block my midline view in a Prius. Strapped to his headrest in a minivan. I have taken it with to use in rental cars/friends cars (tossed it into the car seat bag checked on a plane). I will be buying these as a shower gift. Can't go wrong here.

This is the 3rd mirror we tried and this will be the last. As our rear facing car seat is placed in the middle of the back seat there is no headrest. The other mirrors (Brica) we tried were "apparently" supposed to be able to install without a headrest but they did not work out in the slightest. Both fell over within minutes. Fast forward through dozens of failed attempts later to get them to stay up and then we found this one on Amazon. It straps to the adjacent headrest (with two buckle straps) and pivots which ever way you need it to. You can also adjust the angle for which ever way you need as well. It has never fallen down or off but every two weeks or so I give the straps a quick pull to ensure they are secure. This mirror has worked in the following cars for us thus far: - '06 Hyundai Sonata - '07 Hyundai Santa Fe - '08 Ford F150 - '11 Chevy Equinox Hope this helps!

Pros: Easy to install VERY simple to adjust Clear Shows a lot of back seat Cons: Can't use seat where it's placed without taking it off headrest If headrest is in tall position it can block view out the back window when looking through rear-view mirror It can be easy to lose focus on driving because you can look at your cute little one instead Thoughts: I love being able to glance in the rear-view mirror and see my little one! So reassuring. I did have to adjust the headrest down so that the back window isn't blocked when I look out the rear-view mirror; I had noticed that it was hard to see cars behind me on that side of the car which is SUPER dangerous. So now I have it adjusted so that I can't see the mirror when looking in my rear-view mirror normally; I instead have tot sit up a little further to look at my little one. A very small adjustment to keep us both safer on the road.

I've used the Brica/SafeFit Baby In Sight Mega Mirror for the past 20 months to view my rear-facing daughter, and I've been pretty happy with it. Since I'm expecting another daughter at the end of the month, I came to Amazon to purchase another one, when I came across the Britax Back Seat Mirror. It didn't have any reviews yet, but it looked nice, and I like Britax, so I decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you, I love this mirror. It is sooo easy and quick to install, get secure, and angled correctly. The nice part is that it has straps to secure it to the headrest and then a pivot mount to adjust the angle, so you can secure it first and then adjust the angle. With the Baby In Sight mirror, you have to angle it and secure it all in the same step. I also had to stuff a blanket behind the mirror in order to keep it secure and at the right angle. The Britax is so much easier. The other thing I love about this mirror is how clear it is. It's almost as clear as my rear view mirror, unlike the Baby In Sight, which is kind of blurry. I highly recommend this mirror. I like it so much that I am buying another one to replace the Baby In Sight mirror I had been using for my older daughter. (For reference, I drive a Volvo XC60.)

These are high quality. We were given one as a gift originally, and ended up ordering 3 more, one for each car for both of our kids. We've also ordered these as gifts for other moms. They're sturdy and large enough to get a full view of a rear-faced baby/toddler. They're on a swivel, which makes changing direction easy to do. Once the toddler is curious enough to touch, though, it can be problematic as we found ourselves needing to reset it after she played with it. :)

Great backseat mirror. Big size and stays sturdy. I'm able to put it on the side headrest and point it towards the middle. Only problem is when I go to put my daughter in the middle I hit the mirror everytime. No way around it. But otherwise only thing that's worked for me with my headrest in the middle. Second picture is view in the rear view mirror
