These hooks rock. They feel great in the hand and I have no trouble working for hours with them. In the world of hooking I'm pretty convinced clover can do no wrong. I haven't tried the other Japanese brand that has a similar handle, but I have some of clover's soft touch and bamboo hooks. I do find myself reaching for these kind the most, but I'm not going to say they are necessarily better, and I do still switch it up, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with these. It really is a personal preference thing, so I'd highly suggest getting one to start (like I did with the G here) before going all in on the set as they are a bit more expensive than other hooks. I don't have any joint conditions so I can't speak to how they may help in that area, but they are comfortable. The aluminum has a satin quality that feels very nice and not quite as slick as more common Al hooks (but definitely not grabby like bamboo). Definitely worth a try.
I love that the handle is padded. My mom and I had the old metal hooks that become difficult to hold over time. they dig into your fingers and moms hands cramp up because they are so narrow to hold. These are padded, no slipping, and easier to hold onto for my mom. No her hands dont cramp so easily.
I crochet a LOT! I make gifts, but mostly I make hats for NICU babies, cancer patients and the homeless. I use all kinds of stitches and several yarn weights. Sometimes I can crochet for 2 or 3 hours a day if I'm listening to a really good book. I have tried every hook from the cheapest all metal to the better Boye hooks. I have definite preferences for a good hook, with my "must have" requirements being an ergonomic handle, a smooth hook and shaft and a hook that won't split my yarn, either on the forward or the pull stroke (I thought that only an in-line hook would do, but I was wrong. These are tapered hooks and they work like a dream!) My Boyes were my favorites until I tried my first Clover Armour hook. The difference was obvious IMMEDIATELY! I'm not sure what they do to the hook and shaft (the metal parts) of these ergonomic hooks, but the hook and shaft of the Clover Armours are not as shiny as the Boye or any others and that not-as-shiny metal slides through the yarn so smoothly and easily that the difference was instantly noticeable. Smooth as a baby's bottom! The hook doesn't split my yarns (I exclusively use medium, light and sport weights). The hook also doesn't pull the yarn, "pop through" or require yanking. The reduction in hand fatigue was amazing. I can never go back. Best crochet hooks EVER!
These crochet hooks are the best things in the universe. I don't know how I ever got by without them. Do yourself a favor and get the Clover Armour hooks! They're so comfortable and give a much better grip. I'm able to crochet a lot faster than I was with the the Crochet Dude and Boye hooks I had been using before. I'm in love.
I didn't want to buy the complete set without trying the hook first. I normally use Susan bates crochet hooks, but the small size was starting to hurt my hands. I am so glad I found this hook. I use the pencil grip with this hook. I wish the shaft was a little longer even though it's the same size as the Susan Bates. I would recommend you try one hook before buying the set to see if you like it since everyone crochets differently.
I needed some help with my arthritic hands and the crochet hook I was using slipping. I did not have much hope for this making a difference, but thought I'd try it. I ordered a size G since I'm in the middle of a project with that size. Well, I am amazed at the change. No slipping and the amount of grip has made it easier to use my fingers more than turning my wrist so much. This has made life much better for me. I chose this one without knowing just what I was getting or trying any others. The handle is built up a bit, but the biggest asset is the lack of slipping and the part your fingers grip which give you more of a hold on the hook. You can only find out if you buy it. Well worth the cost and looks like it is made to last.
Love this hook! It glides thru my yarn......”like buttah”!.....lol! Great buy and I’ve noticed that my hand doesn’t go numb as much like with the regular hooks does. Strong and comfortable to hold.
I have switched all my crochet hooks to Amour brand plus bought my daughter and daughter in law a set too. Never thought I would leave my old stand by metal hooks but these are so much easier in my arthritic hands.
