I'm very picky about what I give my dogs, but since I have six I cannot afford a non commercial dog food. This is a great commercial dog food for a reasonable price.... the first ingredient being chicken meal or lamb meal- no it's not pure meat, but it's a whole lot better than ground up corn or any other grain. My older dogs having gone in for full blood panels and having eaten this food their entire lives always came out super super healthy for liver function, kidney function, all that kind of thing, so I can only assume that this is a good product.

My dog LOVES this dog food! I tried this food out in the hopes of finding a cheaper solution for my dog's diet. This was the first dog food that my dog happily ate without wet food added. Believe me I have tried high value dog food that promise great benefits to unhealthy snack like dog food like kibbles 'n bits, but this is the only dog food that he eats without hesitation. He is also the healthiest I have ever seen him. Full of energy and very attentive.

First let me say I have 2 very elderly dogs and 2 4 month old puppies. I have had 2 vets tell me to use this brand on each life stages. Everyone always talks about how shiny my dog's fur is. Those are good reasons for me to keep using the food, however it is not the reason I continue with this brand. I love this dog food because my elderly dogs have a significant increase in their energy and started FINALLY getting good checkups. Even their arthritis improved.

Our dogs love this stuff. It is healthy and it helped control our Lab's gas issue. This is all we feed our dogs now. It's also $5 less expensive than any local retailers, including Wal-Mart. I order it and 2 days later it shows up on m doorstep in perfect condition. I've told friends and neighbors and they have all started ordering it through Amazon Prime too. Saves me money and time/labor. It's pretty much a no-brainer I order this every 3 weeks and it's always great. Much better price than I can find anywhere else. I just wish I could get on Prime Pantry for every 3 weeks. The least frequent is 1 month and that just won't work

We previously fed our dogs a much more expensive grain-free dog food, but in light of recent research which has linked high doses of peas and other legumes with heart disease in dogs (specifically, Dilated Cardiomyopathy), we checked the labels on our "high end" dog food and found peas and potatoes were some of the first ingredients. We spent quite a while studying the ingredients in many, many other dog foods and found that most of them either had high volumes of either peas or potatoes. Some had huge amounts of corn as filler and still others contained the generic ingredient "bone meal" with no mention of the bone meal's source (ie: chicken, beef, etc). This, we learned to our horror, can mean the food is made with rendered domestic pets, diseased animals, etc. It was not easy to find a food that wasn't loaded with corn and/or legumes or wasn't made with that generic, non specific "bone meal". We found two dog foods that met our criteria: Purina One Smartblend Natural Formula and Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet Lamb Meal and Brown Rice. We routinely feed our dogs one or the other of these two foods and sometimes mix them for variety. Since we've switched, our dogs still have the same energy level, still have shiny healthy coats, are still maintaining a healthy weight and they really like both of these varieties of foods. It seems to be a win-win. We feel more comfortable with this food choice for our dogs and our dogs are very happy with the taste.

My pup seems to think this food is delicious. I asked her for a more detailed review, but she simply cocked her head slightly to the right before resuming to bury her face in the bowl and continue about her day. I can only assume her desire for it by the fact that she continues to eat it, but I'm fairly certain she has no taste buds to speak of judging by the other things she chooses to eat. I refuse to try it myself, because I am not a dog. If I were, I might like it - I guess we'll never know.

Prior food was Royal Canin. I don’t necessarily trust dog food brands when it comes to nutrients and marketing. Any given food on here has the ‘I’m a vet, trust me’ type of review so it’s hard to know and let’s face it, I’m not a scientist or chemical analysis. The one who does know is my 5y/o chiweenie. He has never stayed at his bowl to eat his food- ever, until now. He loves the beef chunks and will pick them out. Eventually he’ll eat the rest of the kibbles. He has had good energy and all positive health signs after we switched. This includes no digestive issues. His stools have been regular which on RC had been an occasional issue.

I have 2 dogs. 1 that will eat about any dog food and another that is a little more picky. They both LOVE this dog food. I have tried several of the $50+ "premium" dog foods and they would eat it but reluctantly. I give my dogs half a cup in the morning and half a cup in the evening. With all the other premium brands, It would take them all day to eat that half cup. Same goes with the evening feeding and in fact there would almost always be some left over for in the morning. Not with this dog food. I give them their food and both bowls are clean in 5 minutes flat. They absolutely love it. Now another downside I experienced with these premium brand dog foods. My dogs are for the most part, very regular, They will do number 2 of the morning and will do number 2 of the evening and rarely do they ever need to go out again for a number 2. Over the course of the last 6 months I have tried 4 different premium brands and with every brand we had highly irregular bathroom breaks. They might go 3 or 4 times a day but never at a regular schedule. Luckily I work from home so was able to take them when needed but it was very frustrating. I know on those dog food rating sites they give this brand 2 stars but my dogs say otherwise. Its 5 stars all the way.

Other dry foods, my dog sniffs them and walks away. She would rather go without eating a few days than eat them so we add moist food to them and it's hit or miss or she'll eat it for a few days, then decide she no longer likes it. She's a picky dog I guess. This one she likes without adding anything, which hasn't happened before and we've tried so many. We like to leave her a bowl of @ 1/2 cup of kibble during the day. She's not a dog that overeats, so we can do this. If she's peckish or her dinner is late, she takes some.

Since I am not a connoisseur of dog food, I shall have to defer to my little Pekinese's opinion..she has a chicken allergy, so I avoid it in her diet. Let's see what she thinks: "Annie, here's dinner! What do you think?" *Annie is ignoring her owner. She's too busy scarfing down dinner. She finishes and licks her chops, then comes over to her owner for cuddles.* "Ok, I guess you liked that, Annie?" Annie's vote: yummy!
