Good system. Easy install.
Very easy to install on my 2011 Grand Cherokee. Seller actually sent me an email with instructions and a short video on installation before I even received the product. Took me about 15 minutes to install both bars on the factory rails. Key for me was to notice that the support bars slip into place from the inside of the roof toward the outside rather than going into the center of the channel on the factory side rails. With the outer screw backed out almost all the way, just push down on that screw and you can easily see how the two L-shaped pieces at the bottom of the bracket slide toward the outside of the roof to engage the factory rail.

Great fit and easy install
Since having kids there never seems to be enough room in the car, we bought these so we could put a cargo box on the roof for longer trips. The install was a breeze, I watched the youtube video sent to me from the vendor shortly after ordering and it showed exactly what to do. The instructions were pretty clear as well. The bars sent to me were labeled Front and Back, they also had labels showing which edge should face the front of the vehicle. Kind of hard to screw up with all that info. These things seem stout, after install but while still on the ladder I grabbed one and yanked to see if it would move, not a budge, the whole jeep rocked side to side but the bar did not move. Solid. I've attached a couple pictures, the only concern I had was if the bars would clear the garage entrance but as the picture shows the antenna sticks up more than the bars. I'll try and post an update once my cargo box arrives and I get it installed.

Good quality and easy to install.
The roof bars fit perfectly and were easily installed. They worked great with our thule kayak racks and I would suggest them for any Grand Cherokee owner. Ours were on an overland edition. Unfortunately, our jeep was involved in a rollover accident and the Jeep was totaled, but the pictures truly show the quality of the roof racks because they took all of the roof damage and our panoramic sunroof didn't have a scratch. In fact, the roof was the only body part nearly undamaged. I contribute this solely to the roof racks. They worked great while we had them and I will certainly buy the same brand again! 5/7!

Nice rack, awful instructions
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory-installed brightside roof rails, and this rack does fit it (I just installed mine). This appears to be the same roof rack as the mopar rack. One detail that I wanted to know: their construction. The foot/base on each side is plastic, but the locking mechanism (the inside stuff that hooks to the rails on your roof) and the cross bar (that your kayak, etc. will hook to/rest on) are metal. Overall, the rack seems well constructed. It takes some effort to put it up, though, given the less than perfect instructions. Here's what I learned: 1. First, I followed the other reviews and put the small edge of each cross bar facing toward the back of the vehicle--like an airplane wing. 2. The slightly shorter bar fits the rails at the BACK of my jeep. Others said front, but the feet don't have the reach for the bar's width up there. I was left with one bar that didn't seem to fit anywhere. I breathed a sigh of relief once I took the keyed end part off and slid the top plastic strip out of the rail to expose the screws and saw one screw which (if loosened) allows the feet to be moved closer or farther apart. I still could only get the shorter rail to fit the back of my roof (then only with both screws on each foot loosened a lot--after you get the fit, tightening them up makes it snug to the roof); the longer one easily fit the front part. 3. Something the instructions don't tell you--one of those two screws above each foot controls the "jaws" of the locking mechanism (what pulls the cross bar/rail tight to the car roof). I had to loosen that screw (the one toward the OUTSIDE of the bar, on each end of it) almost all the way. I'm talking look at the end of that screw sticking through the nut on the bottom of the foot and unscrew it(from the top) until the bottom end is even with the nut (I didn't need to unscrew it all the way, though). That loosening allows the "jaws" of the roof rail to come out enough so you can hook it into the rail installed on your car roof. Loosen each side, place it in the rail on your roof, then start tightening each screw. After some tightening, you can slide these cross bars around to get the spread you want. They shouldn't come up off the roof rail, though, as they're locked in now. 4. After you screw these down tightly (watch out not to strip out the allen screws), shake your car with them and make sure they're attached firmly. I don't think I'll be taking these on and off--they look nice (all black), and taking them on and off would be a bit of effort. Now, slide the black rubber strip you pulled off the top in from the side (leave the keyed end piece off), little by little. I was able to do this pretty efficiently, but I could see where others had some issues trying to push it in from the top. I think sliding it in from the side is key here. Then, lock the end piece back into place, store the keys and allen wrench in your car, and you're good to go. By the way, the keyed part is only to prevent (it seems) someone from unscrewing this. It is not a quickly release function. UPDATE (June 2013): The rack rails seemed to work great in heavy use--I drove 300+ miles at highway speeds with 2 kayaks on them (around 100 lbs of boat up there on my malone seawing brackets), and the rack held it all. Rain, coastal wind, high speeds, and reduced aerodynamics didn't seem to phase these rails. UPDATE (Oct 2014): The rack rails have transported my kayaks on the malone brackets many times, and haven't loosened up or had any problems. I even made a short drive (out of necessity) with three kayaks mounted/tied to the rack rails, and no problems. Also, no fading or rust. Still very pleased with this purchase.

Mounted on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and worked perfect with some expected flaws at price point....
Four star product, but leaving 5 stars because you do accept certain flaws when buying cheaper items then other available items. Unit served us welll on a 600 mile trip with 100lbs strapped to the top moving 80mph most the time. Some have said install was difficult, not sure why. Didn't bother with the directions, just looked at the unit and it was pretty straight forward how to install. unlock side, slide out rubber top, loosen bolts, slide/fit/place in vehicle mount, line up for even placement, and tighten bolts little at a time going to each one like you would wheel lugs so everything tightens perfectly, took maybe 20 minutes moving a ladder around the vehicle. I did an extra step after seeing the rubber top and how it slides in and coated the rail where the rubber slides with Di-electric Grease to help with seal and conditioning of the rubber. I find this grease works well to condition molding, helping repeal water, and figured it might help with limiting whistling. Pros - Looks better then cost would lead you to think installed. - I had very little added noise from it moving at 70mph with the sun roof open listening. The Greasing of the rubber might have helped with that, not sure. But just a slight wind noise maybe...nothing I could really pin point over regular wind noise with sunroof open. Couldn't hear anything different sounding with them installed with sunroof closed. - Works. flexed some with the weight I strapped to it (and I tend to strap tight), but worked great. Cons - Plastic on the ends feel that they won't last the life of the vehicle, but sturdy enough to last many many years maybe. - The rubber on top also will be something to keep an eye on as it flexes when you strap something down tight, so this may also begin to wear faster then other units at a higher price point. At this point this is speculation, but also expected limitations with something a 3rd of the price of factory units. Overall, if you need to save some money, but still get a decent product I would suggest these.

Solid & Sturdy
I recently purchased a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude Edition that did not come with the functional side rails, as most Jeeps do. So, I needed to install side rails first before being able to install these crossbars. Once I had the side rails on, these crossbars were very easy to install. I read several reviews that commented on the necessity to loosen the screws almost all the way in order to make the installation easier, as well as the difficulty of fitting the rubber cap back into place. I had also received an email with an installation video from the company I purchased them from. So with all that knowledge, I knew what to expect, and I was able to install from start to finish in about 15 minutes. The crossbars are a very solid material and sit very securely on my roof. I have put some weight on them and they don't budge a millimeter! I definitely recommended these crossbars for anyone looking to have a more permanent set of bars on their Jeep. Do a little research, read some reviews, and it will make the installation a breeze!

Good quality/ easy to install
I don’t usually write reviews but I am doing this one as I have read a lot of controversy in previous reviews with regards to quality, easiness to install, suitability for GC etc. I installed then on my 2015 GC Overland that carries the OEM chrome flush rails (that I installed replacing the black decorative plastic mouldings). Following the instructions in the box and paying attention not to mix up forward / rear and back / front it took me less than 20’ to have them on the roof tightly secured, bolted on top my ski rack and hit the road to the mountain. During the trip I could hardly hear any wind noise (mostly due the ski rack that I had experienced before in another car) and once back everything was still holding in place including the lock caps on both edges and the rubber lining on top of the bars. So far very happy to have paid a very reasonable amount of money for a product that looks solid and obviously much improved considering the early reviews. Will follow-up if anything changes over time but I don’t see any reason not to give this product a 5 star for now.

Great product and a great bargain.
I would highly recommend this rail solution for anyone looking for a good product at an affordable price. I looked around at several of the more recognized brands such as Mopar and Thule, but I could not bring myself to paying the price they were asking for. I decided to take a chance on this rail system based off of the reviews and the affordable price. I was not disappointed. I found these rails to be easy to install. I read the instructions provided and some tips and tricks from other reviews. I've already used these on a 700+ mile trip that was mainly freeway and they performed very well. They were very solid and held our luggage with no issues. We've since removed the luggage carrier and have left the rails installed and have not experienced any wind noise to complain of. I have these installed on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition.

Canoe hauler
Bought this for my 2018 JGC. I read a lot of the reviews first, and was aware of the potential issues with rubber covers sliding off and the possibility of reversing the orientation and getting wind noise. So I was pleasantly surprised with the actual product and the way the installation went. My bars came with "front" and "back" stickers to avoid mixing up the different length bars. And another sticker marking the "forward" direction. So someone at Brightlines has been paying attention too. The actual installation was fairly painless. I did have to completely remove one of the feet to understand how the bolts were seated. After that it made sense and took about 10 minutes to get on and tighten. One thing I'm confused about is the locks - they seem to be mostly cosmetic, as it would be possible to access the allen bolt without removing them. However, the rack itself is sturdy, and I hauled my 17" canoe with no problems. Wind noise was minimal. Very pleased for the price.

Looks Factory.
Works well. Clips right in and looks almost factory. Notes from installation: 1) The instructions are actually quite good - perhaps they've recently updated them. 2) Per the instructions, you must loosen the mounting screws ALL the way until they barely have an engagement. This provides enough play to clip the rails in place. 3) The locking side caps are likely less about security and more a way for them to easy attach. They work and look fine.
