Nice Pants
These are my favorite pants. They fit properly, they have deep pockets and they are tough. They don't bust your balls like other pants do. I get about 3 years of hard use out of them. After 3 years they have too many holes. When new they are nice enough to wear on the town. They are well worth the money.

I like them enough that I bought more.
I tried one pair for awhile to see how well I liked them. At first I wasn't sure because they weren't laid out like the cargo pants I usually wear, but I found that after laundry day, these were the first pairs I would search out from my stack. The front pockets are deep and things like my lighter, house key, and mini-flashlight stay in the pocket, unlike some of my other pants where they can unknowing fall out. The side pockets are deep enough, too, with a heavy enough flap and good snaps to keep the contents inside. So far, I've only had them over the winter, so I can't comment on how they'll feel in the summer. They are made of a pretty thick material with extra reinforcing in some areas. They are loose enough so air flows, so I still have to wear long-johns. Maybe these will be too hot in the summer? I don't know, but I do know they are more durable than my current cargo pants and jeans. The size is spot-on and they didn't appear to shrink in the wash. Anyway, I liked that pair enough that I bought two more. These are probably all I'm going to wear for awhile.

Great Fit
I bought two pairs of these pants for my husband for work. He's a professional gardener, so he needs pants that are durable enough to hold up to dirt, snags, and all sorts of rough use while also allowing him to have a good range of motion and flexibility. These pants seem like they will do the job. He has not worn them to work yet because it is the off season for him, but the material seems much more durable than his other work pants that kept ripping. As the person who has spent countless hours patching and repatching his work pants, sometimes on a weekly basis, extra durable fabric is a must, and the reinforced knees (mid-thigh to mid-calf) are a wonderful, added bonus (a gift to myself, really). He also was able to sit, bend, kneel, and squat comfortable in them. The legs and hip areas were loose enough for comfort and range of motion, while the waist (38) fit perfectly. I can't really comment on the fit of the waist compared to other pants because he has lost 25 lbs since we bought his last pair of pants in a different brand, so I had no idea what size he was when I ordered; I just bought a couple different sizes based on my best guess. They seemed a bit long when he first tried them on (he is 6' 3", and I ordered the 36" length, his normal pants length), but the length was perfect when he had his work boots on. For color, I bought one pair in black and the other in loden. They are both nice colors that seem perfect for hiding dirt stains. I have to return the loden because it is too big (size 40), but I will replace it with one in the same color. UPDATE 4/11/2018: Since I left my first review, I have ordered four more pairs of these pants because they are so comfortable and durable. He now works on a landscaping crew that gets contracts fixing people' yards after the electric company has dug them up, so he's hauling a lot of dirt and often gets on his hands and knees installing sod. He also sometimes works with the tree crews to clean up brush, so his clothes are often getting snagged by tree branches and sticks as well. He only has six pairs of these pants, so each one has been worn about once a week (sometimes more) for over a year now, and they're barely showing wear. There are a some tiny spots on each pair where the fabric looks a tiny bit frayed or thinner than the surrounding fabric, but nothing worth getting my sewing machine out yet. Most of the spots are on the usual areas, like the hem or on the double knees (still my favorite feature). Some areas of the pants are a bit faded (knees, mostly), but that's the least of our concerns. He says the pants have been very comfortable in all aspects of his job, though they do get hot during the summer, but he figures he's going to be hot regardless while working in the sun. In the winter, he wears a pair of long underwear from Eddie Bauer underneath for extra warmth. As the person who does the laundry, I can also say that they come pretty clean from the wash as well, without much effort on my part. I use about 2/3-3/4 of a cap of laundry detergent (versus half a cap for a normal load), and I don't fill the washer up as much as I normally would. I do give them a pre-wash sometimes if they're literally caked in dried up mud, but that's it. BTW, for those wondering about the "Dirt Drop Vents" on the double knees, when you're working in dirt on your knees, small dirt particles can work their way through the fabric and get trapped between the fabrics of the double knees, so it's good to have the small slit of fabric to get out any trapped particles. Just make sure to shake them out before washing, or else you end up with mulch and small twigs in the lint catcher of your dryer...

I will gladly spend $40-$45 on these pants
Love Wrangler Riggs. They are the only work pants I will wear, and have done so for about 5 years. They last long enough and they look professional. That gusseted crotch, is one of those things you didn't know you needed until you try it. There is no tightness anywhere on me when I squat or bend in any position, that alone is worth the money. My least favorite part about the cargo pants version however is that eventually, perhaps due to the ruggedness of the stitching for the extra material on from the thigh to mid shin, and it moving around when you squat and stand, I always wear a hole above the stitching. Picture attached. The cargo pockets are adequate. I do wish they were an inch or two lower, so they wouldn't interfere with my tool belt as much but if they were lower I am sure the stuff in the cargo pockets would bang around on my knees which would be no fun. So no good solution there. There are no inner pockets inside of the cargo pockets which is also a shame. I still like these pants so much that I can't give them a four star review. If I could I would say more like a 4.5 star. Just buy them.

A Cargo/Carpenter style of pants.
I purchased my first pair of these pants last year, and I now own 8 pairs of these pants. They feel like heavy canvas when you first take them out of the package, but after washing them and wearing them, they are very comfortable. The pockets are all well placed and accessible, and combine cargo and carpenter pockets. The hammer loop is a bit small, but it works great for hanging keys on it with a D-ring. The leather patch at the pocket is great for putting a tape measure on and it keeps the pocket from ripping. The knees are reinforced with an extra piece of material, so they hold up very well. They are made out of a rip-stop fabric, that breathes very well. I haven't yet torn a single pair, and I've really put them through some rough situations, like construction work and demolition. They even hold up to hiking through dense underbrush that would destroy a regular pair of pants or jeans. I would recommend them if you are looking for a good cargo/carpenter style of pants. They hold up better than Dickies, and are better than the Carhartt pants that I also own. They also come in more colors than either of the other 2 brands.

Great investment for thigh pocket hard working pants
I think these pants are a great investment. I like the thigh pockets and tough pants with these pockets are very hard to find. Riggs also are made with rip stop material (like army summer pants) which makes a hole in the pants stop after a short distance so you don't get large tears in the pants. They are also made very similar to army pants with the extra layers over the knees, reinforced stitching around everything with rivets and triple stitching at stress points. There is also leather reinforcement over the right front pocket for those that constantly use a knife or similar article from that pocket. I've tried many other pants that look similar but have found no other that offers the usability and quality of these.

Awesome with a few minor gripes...
These pants are awesome! Found my first pair in a thrift store, then bought a new pair. Lost some weight and had to buy another pair with a smaller waist. Can't beat these for overall functionality for most of my needs. Since I stopped carrying a wallet in my back pocket years ago, it's nice to be able to put it in a cargo pocket I can close and secure with snaps. The cargo pocket on the other side is also great for my cell phone. Every time I carry a tape measure, I appreciate the leather protector by the right pocket. A few times, I've loaded these things up almost like a tool-belt. One thing I do find surprising, is that they do wear and start fraying at the bottom cuff just from the friction on the top of my shoes/boots. Won't stop me from wearing them, because they're still functional work pants. Small complaint: While I love the functional pockets, for someone with a 30" inseam, I wish the cargo pockets were smaller, both in width and in depth. The bottom of the cargo pockets is down around the top of my knee, and when stuff is swimming around in them, it bangs my knee. Would be nice if they made the pockets a little shorter for the shorter inseams.

Initial impression
Having only worn these once, here is my initial impression. These seem like a very well made pant. The material weight is just right. Not too stiff and not too flimsy. I can be tough on pants working around our ranch. There is always a wire fence, tree branch, or piece of equipment that wants to snag my clothes. These seem like they will be up to the challenge. There is plenty of leg room and the crotch length is not the kind that hangs down to ones knees as in some pants. These fit my 6' 190 lb. frame like a custom pant. The pocket depth is nice and deep and they are also plentiful. The greatest unexpected attribute is the extra "leather" piece added at the corner of the right front pocket-exactly where us guys clip their folding pocket knife and in my case also a tiny flashlight. This location always gets extra wear and tear due to the clips rubbing there. I will be curious how this holds up to long term use. I'm glad to have found these. Long term use will determine if they are as great as the initial finding. Hope this helps.

These are the greatest pair of cargo pants you will ever own!
Amazing pants, where do I start. One year ago I bought a pair of these pants at a local retailer because I really liked the pockets and that everything on them seemed reinforced. Even the inside of the front pockets are thicker than most other pairs of pants that I own. Over the last year, they were my go to pants. I pretty much wear them all the time, even if they are dirty because of the convenience these pants bring with the large cargo pocket and their little satellite pockets on the right sided cargo pocket. The thick leather (or leather like) reinforcement on the front right pocket keeps my expensive pocket knifes right there without the possibility of them falling out or losing them. The knees are reinforced, and have openings at the bottom so that you can slip padding up in if necessary. They have a hammer loop on the side. The back pockets have some kinda super duty reinforcement fabric that lines the pockets, and the tops of the back pockets are heavily reinforced. The cargo pockets are large enough that I can put a check book sized wallet in them and still close the pocket flap to secure the pocket's contents. I have roofed in them, cut down trees in them, crawled through dirt and sharp rocks in them, climbed mature oak trees for trimming purposes in them, walked through South Texas briers in them, did a lot of attic work in them, and pretty much everything else in between. I have accidentally cut them, and the cut never got bigger, just frayed a little bit. These pants are pretty much bomb proof as they say. I own many different high quality cargo pants, but these outperform them all. The reason I bought these was that, although still functional as the day I bought them, my wife started getting embarrassed to go out in public with me because of the way they were looking (paint, oil, epoxy stains, rips). Like I said, I wear them if I am just going out, or going to do some pretty gnarly work. I just hope that Wrangler continues to make these pants in the future, as I don't see myself wearing anything else. They are very comfortable and not too heavy of a fabric that rubs you the wrong way. They are roomy enough for air circulation, and awkward positions. If you get them, you will not be disappointed

Definitely better than carhart "pants"
I work as an Electritian in Manhattan, I'm pretty rough on pants, did cheap jeans for a while and they wear out too quick, or don't let me move like I need to, so I decided I would buy work specific pants. I bought a pair of carharts "that shrink like crazy in the wash" and bought a pair of the Riggs, both pants are comfortable to wear at work. I usually hang my tape measure from my left pocket and the carharts started to come apart so much that the pocket started to rip, not what I expected from such a respected brand, the Riggs however are still going strong after 7 months of abuse. One down fall of the Riggs is that they feel like wearing a cardboard box until you get about 20 or so washes into them. I originally purchased both pairs of pants from work-n-gear (not sure that means anything to thoes out of New York) but the Riggs and carharts were $60 there, so after I decided on which one I went to Amazon and they were like 20 or 15 cheaper. So in my experience Ied rather deal with a cardboard box for a few weeks than expensive ripped pockets any day! I should also add that I bought the carharts one size larger in the inseam, washed them, then brought them to the dry cleaners to be hemmed. (another 10 dollar bill) As a not to wrangler, you should consider that the leather reinforced pocket should be available in either right "OR LEFT!" Just FYI! Ps. Pic is carharts in grey and Riggs in green.
