Looks more expensive than it is, works perfectly
I purchased two of these and they have been working great for over a year now. Both locations had no overhead lighting in the room, but had outlets, thankfully! Even though it's plastic, the look of the lamp shade is more expensive than it actually is. I just wanted practicality but the look was a nice bonus. I used cord clips to secure the cord to the ceiling and wall to keep it flush and out of the way. After a little while you don't even notice it's there anymore. The on/off switch is located close to the outlet end of the cord, making it easy to reach and convenient. We have LED bulbs in both lamps, so there's no heating up issues anyway but a regular 60 watt bulb shouldn't cause any problems either.

these are exactly what I needed, and I'm buying at least one more
These are great. Exactly what I needed for two rooms in our 1970's house where there's no light fixture in the ceiling. I ended up putting up two in one room and one in another (and I'm buying another one). You just drill a quick hole in the ceiling where you want the light to hang. These are very lightweight... no need for the bulky old chains that a lot of these types of lights used to use. The second hook and anchor will be used in the ceiling directly over the outlet where you're going to plug it in, so that the cord drapes across the ceiling out of the way. Just a few notes... first, the globe is made of frosted, white, translucent plastic. One of mine was misshapen a little, probably from the box sitting on it's side in a warehouse somewhere. It seems like it will straighten out. Second, their were some chips in the outside screw threads of the ceramic piece. They are very small and are in no way visible, but they did make it a little difficult to screw the stabilizing ring on. Great product!

I got the hanging lamp that looks like a bowl
I got the hanging lamp that looks like a bowl. The lamp was a game changer for my somewhat dark apartment and I recommend it to everyone. The plastic looks like glass but won't fall and shatter when a clumsy person like me hangs it up. It's absolutely wonderful! It's a bit hard to photograph a light source, so I included a photo of how nicely it lights the breakfast bar in my apartment.

Perfect solution!
We recently moved to an old town home that had no overhead lighting in our bedroom. This was the perfect solution! Arrived in no time & was so easy to install, it even came with 2 hooks for hanging & 2 pieces that prevent the cord from pulling. The picture shows before & after; used a 60 watt soft white bulb & it floods the room with light without the dreaded "spotlight" effect. Highly recommend!

Love this light so much I bought 2 more.
I plan to buy at least 2 more. Yes they are light weight. The kit is sturdy the cord is not thin, but the plastic dome is very cheap. I have read that some people have found the dome crumpled and warped on arrival in the mail, but ours was fine. However I can see where any excessive heat would do that! The one peeve I had was that the light hangs by its electric cord. However because it is so light weight I don't see this as a problem. I just generally do not like to hang lights by their cords. It can cause a fire risk. I would advise slipping a peice of hose or tubing over the cord when you hang it up, or a little tape, to avoid wear, and not hang it where it will be yanked or pulled. I also suggest using LED lights as they don't heat up. Any light bulb you put in this will melt the plastic dome if it gets hot. For the price, this light is wonderful. The light weight dome and no chain on the cord to hang it by was the only thing I gave it 4 stars for. UPDATE (4 months): I have had this light since around April. It is now the first of September and I loved it so much I bought 2 more, as planned. I have decided to up this review to 5 stars. The cord is so heavy on this light and it came with nice plastic cord holders to screw in to the ceiling, which seems to have eliminated my concerns for a fire risk. I put the light on a breaker bar to make it easier for my grand-daughter (3 years old) to turn on the light. It hangs over her play area with a bright LED light in it which really lights up the entire room. I noticed that they have changed the way they package this light by taping the entire dome to a large stiff cardboard. This holds the dome in its proper shape nicely and prevents it from becoming warped during shipment. I know a lot of people complain about the light not holding its shape. DO NOT put a bulb in this light that will get hot! Use a bright white LED if you want bright light. Otherwise you will warp the plastic dome! The socket is made of brushed metal and porcelin. It would make a wonderful light kit for a craft project if someone wanted to change the dome out for their own creation. It also comes with some nice screw in metal hooks and accessories. I will probably buy more of these in the future as gifts for friends and for the rest of my house. Thank you to Amazon and Globe for providing a lovely light that is effective and affordable on a tight budget! <3

LOVE these lamps!!!! Ordered two. Sure it's cheap, but so is the price.
Sure it's cheap, but so is the price. What can you expect for under $20? This is a swag lamp that hangs from a hook (two screw-in ceiling hooks included). The shade is white and made of fairly flexible plastic. Looks like glass but actually white plastic. 60 watt bulb is the max limit this lamp will handle. Higher wattage bulb and bulb heat could melt the plastic shade and cause a fire. So make sure the correct bulb is used and not exceeding 60 watts. NOTE: I used an LED light bulb which runs cool and heat is not an issue. Plus, by using LED I get more light than using a regular, hot, 60 watt bulb. This lamp gives off a lot of light both upwards and downwards. Light radiates through the top white plastic shade, so this lamp is plenty bright for most average sized rooms. The lamp looks good hanging in a corner, with the clear plastic power cord draped from hook to hook and down the wall to the A/C outlet. The white plastic shade looks like it could be made of glass, Does not look cheap. The construction is cheap and the cost is cheap. But the finished product looks pretty nice.

Looks great
I have it hanging over my kitchen table. Because it's so light weight it's held by a hook that is screwed into the ceiling. I've been looking for something that I wouldn't need an electrician for and sure found it. I also bought bought the wireless wall switch that was suggested by Amazon and it all looks great! I'm adding a note after a week. This is so inexpensive but doesn't look it. I've had so many compliments and it really does the job I hoped for. Also, we like to work jigsaw puzzles and this provides the correct light.

I love this simple lamp
This was my first review: I've had this for 4 months and have been having trouble with it. I thought it was the bulb but have come to realize it is the switch that turns it on and off. You have to play with it to keep it on and it is getting worse with time. other than that I thought it was a nice lamp for the price. Simple, plastic lamp. Update: I've had this now for 5 months and I can't get the switch to keep the light on. It just flickers and turns off even though the switch is on. I reported finally reported this and they replaced the lamp. I am so glad because I absolutely love this lamp. It is inexpensive for my rental studio and its simple and sweet. I have pull chains here and I have replaced them at $20-$30 a piece for the chain pulling out and I was sick of replacing them, so I ordered this. I am an artist, and this lamp can be decorated and painted in so many personal ways, although I have not yet tried it.
