So easy to use, makes schoolwork and reports look tidy and professional! The bindings are reusable - this is a total win.
Very easy to use, does a great job. Easy to punch papers and open the bindings - pretty much foolproof. If you're worried you won't be able to figure it out, don't be - it's a no-brainer. I went with the white bindings because the black were a little too basic, and I'm really happy with the result! I definitely recommend for any moms and dads whose kids are starting school or are in school. This will save SO many headaches of keeping papers together, and the bindings are expandable to add pages and even remove them all and reuse the binding. Total win & a great buy!

Professional looking booklets for a fraction of the price of having it outsourced
We were very pleased with this purchase. I paid extra shipping to have it in one day after pricing the cost of having booklets made up at a store. The machine worked great- we made 25 professional looking booklets in time for our training and the next week made 30 more. Our booklets were about 15 pages thick and I used thicker stock for the front and back covers- so punched those separately. It took a little bit of time to figure out how to load the combs- not extremely good pictures, but once figured out the process went smoothly.

This is a win!
Overall, well worth the money! As many of the reviews have said, it struggles with 12 pages. I took a little extra time and did 6-8 max. It worked well as long as I made sure to line up the paper. It is very easy to get the hang of this machine, and I was binding documents quickly after that point. I completed my project without wasting any additional paper. I also used laminated cardstock on the front and back covers with no issues. Very pleased!

Much better than the Swingeline "Blundermate"
The pictures I submitted are of the Swingeline junk and the Fellowes. The Swingeline was a very flimsy plastic and it did not really do what it promised. The Fellowes is MUCH better.

Obsessed!
I love my crafts and this is an awesome new addition. So easy to use my 7yr old made a book by herself. I make school books and blank books for writing in. My husbands reports for work look clean and professional. A definite need for the busy big homeschooling family or craft addict. Wish I had one years ago. We put a card stock back on and clear front covers.

it is easier to punch with fewer steps and measuring than if I were to buy the type of punch I originally wanted (custom everything is nice, but time consuming)
It was not quite what I wanted when I purchased it (I wanted something that gave me more control of the length and types of binding). But, having accepted that, I have realized it has been considerably helpful when making project books for my kids and their friends. Also, it is easier to punch with fewer steps and measuring than if I were to buy the type of punch I originally wanted (custom everything is nice, but time consuming). I punch printer paper and heavy card stock. As usual, more pages can be cut at one time the thinner the paper. I generally cut about 10 thin paper and 2-3 heavier card stock at a time. It can cut up-to 15 thin paper but, it gets a little harder to punch down. I can use any brand of plastic comb binding (pretty standard I think) so I can shop around for the cheapest binding.

Loving this Fellowes Binder
I have been trying to convince my hubs that this would be a great investment for our homeschooling adventure, well he finally saw the light! I ordered this wonderful Fellowes Binding Starr Plus Machine about a week ago and have already made a dozen books. I've used it to make our children's planners, e-books and curriculum. I received my binder and supplies pretty quickly and it was packaged very well. I ordered the Fellowes brand plastic combs in 2 sizes, 1/4" and 1" in the same order. This binder was described as a 19 punch machine but is fact a 21 punching machine. It also says (in the literature that comes with the binder) that the maximum comb size is 18mm (150 pgs) but I tried a 1" comb and made it work. It's a bit of a pain because the comb doesn't open up as much as a smaller size but if you are patient you can make it work. I also ordered additional combs, 5/16" (21-40 pg) & 3/8" (41-55 pgs) and they work just great! I will probably try out some off brand combs eventually since I need to try out a few more size combs for various projects. This binder has many great features like the storage tray with built in comb sizer. It is located on the right side of the binder and has been handy for me a time or two. There is also a small window on the top side of the binder so you can see how many punches are in the dump bin, you want to empty this out several times in a session if you are a heavy user, found out the hard way so trust me it's important. Another feature I like is the adjustable edge guide. You can adjust the edge marker quite easily and it makes punching you papers so much easier and faster. I also love the portability of this binder and its compact size. Sure there are smaller binders out them that can be stored in a drawer but I wanted one that would last me for years to come. I also recommend watching the video on fellowes.com about this binder since the instructions on inserting the comb are very precise. I would totally recommend this binder to anyone who homeschools, it has been a blessing to us.

Perfect for the Classroom
I am an elementqry school teacher and finally bought my own binder for my classroom. Our district did away with workbooks so we print a lot of copies of pretty much anything, from math problems to writing curricula. I use this binding machine almost daily to make booklets for my students. While it takes more effort than stapling papers together, it is much more durable and I am able to bind a whole mulitplication station or vocabulary sheets in one sitting instead of making copies after copies each week. I use cardstock for the front and back and design fronts ob Google slides that I then print so students can easily distinguish between packets/folders. Pay close attention to the comb size and when using cardstock, factor the thickness in as well. Other than that, I recommend buying the combs on amazon instead of the big box store that starts with office. The combs are much cheaper on here. I use a variety of sizes but I found 3/8 to be the most versatile so far. 1/4 is really too small to get anything on as 25 pages are a stretch. I really like the ease of use and that it is light enough to carry, yet still stable enough. One downside is the fact that it does not fit as many papers to punch at one time as advertised. I batch 5-7 pages at a time as this leads to fewer punching mistakes.

A treasure for creativity projects. Well made.
The price was right, so I tried out the Fellows Star 150 to punch holes on 2000 pages for a sales project. With just a little practice, watching your online video and reviewing the manual as I did each step the first time. I became very efficient over time. With lots of practice I became quick and accurate. I plan to store this gen nearby as I have a possible money make to do for myself. I make books for the grandkids and notebooks for myself to keep track of facts I loose, but need . It handles mid weight cardstock, 2 sheets at a time very cleanly, but one trick I discovered is a thumb on my right hand holding the cards down tightly makes for straight cuts every time. I marked on the lid with a silver marker where the cards should be placed so I didn't have to measure or guess. It was quick, strong, yet convernient with no plug to worry about. It is safe enough I taught our 4 and 8 year old grandkids how to safely use it with me assisting them. They loved it. I enjoyed watching them love it. After 2000 cards, it's a bit dusty, but no signs of wear. AND did I mention the price was great and a bonus of 100 combs came with this. I love it. L.Lynne

Works well. Reasonable cost makes it practical.
Years ago I bought a binding machine to use at school and it was hundreds of dollars. When I wanted one to use for Sunday school classes I dreaded the cost. I was pleasantly surprised at how the cost has come down all these years later! But does it work as well? Yes! I used it this week to assemble books for our preschoolers. We used card stock so I limited to punching five pages at a time. You can then add the pages together to bind all of them. It might have been able to cut more pages but it just wasn’t worth the attempt to me. We had a ten page book so it was easy to just divide in two. The top loading to punch is a little more awkward (to me) to load than the front but the small inconvenience is worth it for my purposes for the sleek fold down cover. Very easy to store. If you are using a binder constantly for a business or doing hundred page documents you probably would be happier with a more heavy duty machine but for home, school class, Scouts, etc this does the job.
