Looking at the reviews, people who were not happy were commonly buying for middle schoolers who would need to access several times a day and were possibly rough with the locks. I use these locks on a crawlspace and 2 cabinets that I want to keep inaccessible to renters and I only access it once ro twice a month at most. Also, I love not having to worry about misplacing the key,, or having husband or housekeeper misplace key. So for light use, it is attractive, economical, easy to use, easy to set. I would not recommend for outdoor use or where someone could use a bolt cutter. But for my purposes discussed above, perfect.

For an English major who has memory dyslexia (is that a real thing? It is for me) when it comes to numbers, this is the BEST. Thank you, Master Lock, for creating this!!! I'll never have to have my lock cut off of my locker again. I'll also note that this is cheaper than other word locks I found in stores, as well as much prettier, and I am deeply appreciative of both. THANK YOU, MASTER LOCK. I could not be happier with this. The instructions in the package on how to reset the lock combination were clear and concise, and I'm hanging on to them in case I ever feel the need to reset it again. You'd be surprised how many four-letter words an English major can find on this thing...or maybe you wouldn't, after playing Scrabble with one of us. :) I LOVE this. Two thumbs up and five gold stars, but you can't have my firstborn. Excellent work, Master Lock, and thank you, Amazon, for offering this in your selection.

I know there's a bunch of negative reviews, but personally I haven't had any issues with this lock at all. Granted I don't use it on an extremely regular basis... but it seems to work fine when I do use it. I like that it feels chunky and that changing the code wasn't a huge ordeal. It's quite easy (especially if you've changed other number or word locks in the past) Also, it does give you a lot of word options to choose from. Why people are complaining that they can't spell certain words is beyond me.... Seriously... They can't put every word combination on a NON-DIGITAL dial lock... You just need to stop. Probably the ONLY thing I don't like is that color choice isn't an option. If it were hanging in a store, you'd be able to fish through and find the one you wanted. So that's kind of a bummer.... but it's not enough to remove a star. Why? because THE PRODUCT is fine. That being said, the lock is solid & works great for me! No complaints so far!

Word combination isn't the most fun, but who really cares? It only asks your 6am-barely-fuctioning brain to remember a 4-letter word avoiding awkwardly long times in the locker room at the gym with naked old people. I've seen that people have had issues with their's breaking but mine has been tossed to Tuesday clipped on the side of my gym bag. After being abused the last two months and left at the gym twice it appears entirely unaffected so I would guess the fall apart locks are a fluke as this company seems to be pretty trustworthy. In short: It's not fancy, but it does it's purpose and it's fairly priced. So just buy it and stop reading lock reviews. There's probably something else you'd rather be doing anyway.

This is a good quality lock. I like it because it's so easy to remember a word rather than a combination. I only wish you could pick the color. I ended up with dark blue which is fine but not what I would've picked. You are only able to lock the lock when you have your password put in. This means you have to hide your combination when you have it off your locker. Other than that I really like it and hopefully I'll never again forget my combination!

A decently heavy lock with the added bonus of fun colors and easy to remember alphabetic codes. We use it to lock up our side gate with our trash cans behind it. I know that a heavy set of bolt cutters will cut the lock because I had to do it when the neighbor kid accidentally reset the code... so probably not your number one choice for security, but good enough to deter surface snooping, and convenient/good enough for us to buy twice. I know it's not rated for outside use but it really stood up to weathering in our climate (AZ) for the 6+ years we had it before having to replace it.

What a great idea to have a lock that is letters instead of numbers. It's super easy to remember the combo and would be very unlikely that anyone would guess the exact word unless you used your name or something like that. The main reason I even purchased a new lock though is because I kept forgetting to bring my glasses when I went to my storage room and couldn't read the tiny numbers on the lock without them. These letters are large enough to see so I don't need my glasses. Love it.

This is a fantastic lock for us. We have several Master Locks for boats and beach toys with 4 digit programable codes but we're using this one for the chainlink fence to reach the beach area where plenty of people can have access that we don't want to give the 4 digit code to. It's not as hardy as the ones we use for the boat but it's big easy to see letters and easy to spin tumblers are perfect for the application (and folks could jump the gate, this just keeps honest folks honest and inconvienences the others).

I have loved this product since the 1970's living in Boulder CO. I now live on the East Coast and came across Skin Trip at Whole Foods one day, blast from the past. So instead of paying their price, I ordered on Amazon, got 2 bottles quickly and have been using it daily and loving it. I have tried to replicate this lotion over the years, nothing comes close. Skin Trip rocks!

These locks fix a problem that I never realized existed...until now. As you get older and you go to a gym with 'do it yourself' locker locks and use a normal combination lock then you can't actually open the locker because your reading glasses are INSIDE the locker. The large type and high contrast of the letters on this lock solves this issue. Also, by raising every other letter the lock gives extra help if legibility is still a problem.
