Expensive but easy to install
These are easy to install every six months when my frig reminds me it's time to change it. As long as you follow the instructions carefully it's a piece of cake. But be sure to follow the instructions. Depending on which one you get (they are color coded) you either screw the new one it with a slight turn, OR, you will just push it into the housing without twisting it at all. Be careful. If you follow directions, you're fine. And they do last for 7 months.

RPWFE Filter for GE Profile Refrigerator
OEM, RPWFE filter for GE Profile refrigerator. Two years ago I purchased a Samsung refrigerator and it broke down four times so the warranty company replaced it under their Lemon Law. I replaced it with a GE Profile refrigerator. The water tastes very clean and fresh. The ice is clear and free of impurities. This is a great filter although it is expensive. I haven't been able to find one made by a third party company.

From Used/damaged To new filter
Ordered this filter for our GE profile frig. This is the 3rd filter I have ordered through Amazon. Never had an issue before now. However.....upon removing from the Amazon packaging it was clear that the box was in poor condition. I open it to find a filter that is not in plastic as the others have been. Upon installing this filter the frig would not dispense water. Took filter out & compared to my used filter. The “new” filter had several gouges around the area where it plugs in. The “new” filter was missing the RFID tag as well. Upon further inspection, the internet said the frig will not acknowledge a filter without the RFID TAG. It was clear to me that the new filter was definitely preowned. Reinstalled my filter & it worked perfectly. I clearly was sent someone else’s used or a damaged filter. I am UPS’ing this back to Amazon. Waiting for a replacement in 2 days. We shall see if the second new filter is truly “new”. I will re review at that point. Received my 2nd new filter today. Box was completely intact, filter was in plastic, RFID Tag was present & the filter is working as it should.

Just what I needed.
My new fridge was sending a message that the water filter needed replacing. I guess this happens every six months, so I expect I will have to order another one soon. This was the most reasonable price, although just a little less than the GE website. I have heard it's not really necessary to replace this so often, but I don't want that message coming up on my refrigerator. I will be ordering it again. There are directions on the filter, and it was easy to replace.

Works, but over priced big time.
Works just like the one you got with your fridge. However, way to dang expensive. I do not replace mine when it says. I replace 1x a year. My birthday. Why? 1) We have city water which has most of the crap filleted out.. 2) The filter says its bad after 90 days, not when it is "starting to not work/clog/fill up". This is a use issue, not time issue. 3) Way to dang expensive. Since I only get it once a year, I get the name brand so there are no issues.

Super easy to install. Value product to protect your health
You get what you pay for. We have a GE French Door fridge that is 6 yrs old. It has the ice maker on the bottom. We don't have the in door water and ice. I followed the directions and then dumped out the first batch of ice it made. Could we have save some money buying another brand? Yes. But this is the most expensive Fridge I've ever bought and in 6 years no problems even with all the power surges and outages here in Florida. Also, I feel that if i am eating or drinking it - I will pay more for quality.

Exact replacement filter for my GE Refrigerator
Exact replacement filter for my GE Refrigerator. Its a little expensive for what it is, but I can't find it cheaper any where else. Easy to replace, just open filter compartment, swing out the filter and pull out the existing filter. No twisting required. It is seated in there pretty good, so it takes some pulling to get it out, but it will come. Lasts 6 months or so even though the fridge tries to get you to change it sooner. Just tell the fridge it has been removed and it continues to work fine. I run a double filter system ahead of this so the water tastes very good after it passes through both.

Best on the market!!
IMHO, this is easily the best filter on the market for a refrigerator, and it was a significant reason why I bought my new GE refrigerator. It makes the water and ice taste very pure and clean. I used to use PUR filters, but this one makes the water taste better, and the research says that these GE filters even remove some pharmaceuticals, etc. - more than the PUR filters do, not like reverse osmosis or anything, but I couldn't find any frig filter with better filtration. I admit that I did have a bit of trouble installing the first one, not much, but it was weird. I just didn't want to break it. I managed okay, but GE would do well to redesign the installation of it. I've read many complaints about the cost of it, but I used to go through 3 PUR filters every 3 months, costing about $50, which is $100 every six months. This filter SAVES me about $55/6mo, which is $110/year. Frankly, I'm quite happy about that!! But even better is the peace of mind I have knowing that my refrigerator ice machine is as clean as it can possible be, and that the ice and water quality are top of the line.

Works as expected, but we had to watch youtube to install
It's actually pretty terrible that GE decided to come out with a chip enabled water filter. You have to use these things to get water from your fancy fridge and can't buy a generic version. But the actual product worked as expected. I don't think it's any better than a generic version of the RPWF filer - but my refrigerator is designed to only take the E version. To install, the directions were kinda useless. But Youtube helped to quickly show how to install without breaking the fridge.

Original GE as far as I can tell
Seems to be original GE as far as I can tell. Prefer to drink filtered water vs bottled due to plastic (particles in water as well as environmental concerns-don’t drink from a plastic bottles after it’s been sitting in a hot car-makes me wonder how hot it was during shipping in the summer). Overall I think these filters are all overpriced but I guess worth it compared to bottled:
