A FTC Team - MUST HAVE -->Outstanding set. well made, SUPER QUALITY!!!
Exactly what the team needed. I am the coach of a FTC robotics team and I picked this up for our team to use. Since we normally do not deal with any nut or bolt larger than 1/2" this set is perfect for our needs. The picture does not do the set justice. Quality is first rate, each socket is laser etched with the size. Chroming is flawless. Sockets are heavy walled and well made. Metric and Standard sized come in both regular and deep-well each having its own individual compartment in the case so you can remove one socket and not have all others slide around in the case. Just need to teach the kids to put them back when they are done. Case is high quality with a true pin type hinge on the back, not just plastic strips that act like a hinge until it break. Front locks are plastic but well made and much better quality than you see in most tool set cases these days. An added plus is the thin red hand ratchet that speeds the install and removal nuts and bolts in tight spots. Outstanding set!!! The only CON: I can find is that the ratchet does not have a quick release. but that's not even worth taking away a star in my opinion. I am super pleased.

Give your kid the old Craftsman set and get these for yourself
This is an excellent kit, particularly for the price. I'm not an everyday user, but I do work on cars from time to time. I already had the GW 1/4 and 3/8 kit, so it was a no-brainer for me. GearWrench is a solid brand. In general, the GearWrench sockets are better designed, and better machined than Craftsman, Husky, or Cobalt. The ratchet-side corners, in particular, have a much larger radius, which reduces stress and cuts back on the chances of cracking. The case lid can be removed, so you can set the now-open tray in 2 inch drawer in a roll-away. The 120 tooth ratchet is buttery smooth that, for all practical purposes, basically eliminates the need for even having 12 point sockets. Not only does that save money and space in your toolbox, but six points are inherently much stronger. The kit has 3 and 5 inch extensions, which is kind of weird, but effective. The extensions are not wobble-type, which is unfortunate, as the GW wobbles are simply head and shoulders above other off-the-shelf products. There is also a common, ordinary u-joint. Interestingly, the GW deep wells are broached for the nut only to the depth of the fastener. This adds strength to the design and is extremely useful for feeding a nut in an upward direction. Craftsman deep sockets are generally broached to a depth of an inch or more. This is less strong and more difficult to feed a nut into position. The Craftsman design does, however, give you quite a bit more freedom of movement (slop) to latch on to a nut set all the way in on a long bolt in a hard-to-get-to place. Back to the GW, the box says made in Taiwan and these carry a lifetime warranty. If you are a tool truck kind of guy, these aren't for you, but if you are looking for something better than the local hardware store, this is the ticket.

A Great Socket Set!
I absolutely love the Gearwrench socket sets! I initially bought the ½”, 3/8”, and ¼” set for the roll around in the shop because the Gearwrench sets have the greatest size ranges, both metric and standard, of any other set that I have found. This meant that the only sizes not in the case are the 27mm, 30mm, 32mm, 33mm, and 36mm that we use commonly use around the shop so inventorying the tools after a job is easy! I know that some people have complained that there is not a ball lock, or more to the point, a button to release the ball lock and the sockets could come off of the ratchet. So far, this has never been an issue. The 120 tooth ratchets are strong and I have had no issues at all with them. They definitely work well in tight areas where one can only get a small throw with the handle. As for durability and the finish, they are outstanding. These tools get used everyday, and for the last two and a half years, we have not had any issues (other than a 5/16” socket that grew legs). I finally opted to replace my old Craftsman set I had in my Jeep with the Gearwrench sets because of how complete they are and I can keep track of the tools when doing maintenance on the trail. I recommend them to anyone from an occasional wrench turner to a legitimate mechanic. They are very reasonably priced and IF they break, there is the lifetime warranty.

I should have purchased them sooner
Excellent set. Not perfect but for the price they're pretty darn close. It's really hard to beat these. They're right at the sweet spot between cost and quality. The warranty is worth it alone. If you have a problem you can take a bad socket to anyone who sells Apex tools (NAPA, Fastenal, etc) and swap it out for a new one at no charge, no questions asked. I'm very happy with them. Fit and finish is 4/5 stars. There's a few of the sockets that in places the chrome isn't totally perfect but unless you're really looking for it under a magnifying glass, you likely won't notice. Most of the sockets in the set are indeed perfect. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality 1/4" set. The case is decent too. The sockets do wobble in the case but they still all stay in their places even when you invert and shake the hell out of it. It's nice to open the case and have everything always in its place. I wish it had a handle, but not a big deal. I would certainly buy these again. I should have bought them sooner. The only odd thing about them is when you open the case they have a faintly sweet aroma. Some kind of lubricant or plastic off-gassing? It's like new car smell but for tools? I don't know what causes it but I'm not complaining! Great set!

Great very complete 1/4" ratchet set
Even though I didn't "need" it, this is a really nice set to have. It's a very complete set of 1/4" sockets. The size engravings are fairly east to read, plus they're marked inside the plastic box, as well. The set is made in Taiwan (prefer over China), and backed by Apex's lifetime warranty on Gearwrench tools. Also, this isn't my first GW ratchet, but for those that have never used the XP ratchets, they're really nice, and the pawl action is smooth as silk. Snap-on, Matco, Proto, and SK are all great (and I own Matco and Snap-on ratchets as well)... and I like the fact they're made in the USA, but, the quality here is much the same as the tool truck brands, and you couldn't come anywhere close to this price for a set this large in Matco or Snap-on.

Top quality without the high tool truck price
Fantastic set of high quality wrenches. If you've been buying cheap sockets, these will be a delight. 6pt sockets don't round nuts and bolts. High tooth count ratchets make working in tight spaces massively better. Every socket and every ratchet is delightful to use. My only disappointment with the set is that the case doesn't hold the sockets in well. If you tilt it, they'll all be on the floor and spending a few minutes putting them all back. Really wish this set had a better, more secure case.

Would buy again
I love this 3/8 set I bought the 1/4 to try out and had to get the 3/8. I’m a road mechanic for construction equipment so I leave everything in cases to make it easier in the field. So nice to grab one of these sets and have what I need all nicely organized. They stay in there spots too I would recommend to anybody weekend warrior or professional mechanic

Superb.
This is the best socket set I've ever owned. On par with the 1/4 set of the same brand. The ratchet with this set is superb. Extremely smooth mechanism. It makes the rest of my ratchets sound terrible in comparison. The fit and finish, while not perfect, is excellent. You would have to look very closely to find any defects. The down side, is the injection molded case does not hold the sockets in place when held vertically. They will arrive both shaken and stirred.

Highly recommended
This is a great little set. Very versatile. You can do alittle but if everything with it. I keep it right in my truck. The ratchet is very smooth and easy. I noticed the price seems to change a lot on this product so keep an eye on it. I got it for just 45$

Quality tools
I picked this set up when it went on sale for under $50 and this is a great quality set for that price. Very well made. Comes in a nice quality case. Now I see that they are going for over $75. Glad I picked mine up when I did. GEarwrench makes good tools but I always try to get them when they go on sale.
