A Must Have!! Will play everything on a tv!!!
Works great and it allows you to watch anything from your iPhone on any TV that has a HDMI port! Some people on here say it doesn’t for some reason let you watch streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or just any app that streams any video content) but it’s just simply not true! On any TV that has an HDMI port, which it’s insanely rare that you will even own or use a TV that does not have an HDMI port, you will 100% be able to watch anything on TV with this device that you can watch on your iPhone. I even watch DIRECTV through my DIRECTV app on any TV. It’s a must have especially in a place where there is not a internet connection like in rural areas or just any place with no internet. It just all depends on the type of service you get though if there is no internet connection. But, it all boils down to if you can watch it on your iPhone then you can watch it on a tv with this device. It just simply mirrors whatever is showing up on your iPhone screen. So, as soon as you plug it into your iPhone and then plug it into the TV you will immediately see whatever your screen on your iPhone is displaying! I take this with me every time I travel just Incase the hotel, vacation home, lakehouse, or anywhere that might not have internet, good Wi-Fi signal, or just Incase the place I’m at happens to loose internet service for a while or something? Just remember to invest in a lengthy hdmi cord so you can use it while you are in bed or sitting on the couch. If you do not want to buy a lengthy HDMI cord and you have two at your house then you can always buy an hdmi extension adapter to make two smaller hdmi cords just one longer hdmi cord to help reach wherever you are at. Buy, I highly recommend buying both (lengthy hdmi cord and extension adapter) so in case you go on a trip and the cord isn’t quit long enough you can just add another one from the place you are at, that is if they have another one? I bought a 15’, 20’, and even a 25’ hdmi cord and I have to say the 25’ cord is the one use the most because it’s never not long enough and I always can use the device while I’m in bed or wherever very comfortably. Lastly, since it has a charging port on it which is the best part I might add due to the battery consumption that streaming videos takes up on a phone. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to buy a iPhone chargrging cord (usb to lightning cord) that is much longer than the standard iPhone charging cord. If you want to use the long hdmi cord to use it while in bed or on the couch and you don’t have it charging then it’s pointless to even use the long hdmi cord or even the device itself. You don’t want to be using this and then go out and your phone is almost dead or if you want to use the device to watch something on the tv and your phone is almost dead. My point is you never know where the outlets are going to be in a place you have never been and you are wanting to have it on the nightstand or just close to you so you don’t have to get up and go hit pause, play, or switch to something else to watch. I hope this was thorough enough and helps answer any questions some of you might have. But, I promise this plays any streaming app your tv so please do not listen to anyone saying that it doesn’t because they are for some reason lying or they just have no idea what they are talking about?! Alright, have a great day!!

Thank you Apple, So long Comcast! 🤪 Xfinity name change didn’t fool me!
This device is saving me hundreds of dollars a month in Comcast Xfinity costs. We all know how over priced and out of control Comcast pricing has gotten, since upgrading to Unlimited data w/ Verizon I am able to utilize my iPhone w/ this adapter to maintain my entertainment needs and save approx $160.00 a month. UPDATE 5mo post purchase: Still working flawlessly.....NO issues at all. If you’re willing to wait 24-48hrs you can watch virtually anything from any Chanel/Network via their respective websites. Take advantage of this device before somebody somewhere ruins it for us. UPDATE: Almost 2 years later and we have upgraded to Apple TV for our streaming entertainment and I now use this device to watch NFL games at work, shhh don’t tell anyone.

Netflix, Vudu, etc works!!!!
Just like my original apple adapter which still works but hated switching it from tv to tv in fear that it would stop working. Can watch sling tv Netflix amazon prime YouTube, etc. Very pleased that I didn’t have to pay 60 through Apple. Paid half and got the real thing.

Does what it says!
So far so good, mirrors fairly well, very little latency. Though one issue, hulu has some sort of anti-mhl thing going on where I can only hear audio when using hulu....but netflix and youtube (...and everything else) has no issue playing on here. So I know it's not the adapters fault, ergo, keeping it at 5 stars!

Great for connecting iphone/ipad to Hotel TV's to stream Netflix/Hulu
I got this adapter as I travel quite a bit for business. I have Netflix and Hulu Live TV at home and so I like to watch my regular shows and DVR when on the road. Hooked this up to my ipad/iphone and connect HDMI to the TV and have my own personal entertainment system. It can also charge your device while watching. I did notice that this works better with my iphone than my ipad but this could be my device. Seems like the ipad takes a bit more time and fidgeting to get it to work.

Actually Works
I was concerned about all the one star reviews but gave it a shot anyway. I am glad this adapter works without any issues with my iPad 3 and iPhone 7 Plus. Sound from the TV is loud and clear and there is nothing to complain about for the picture quality. Youtube app doesn't seem to fill up the entire TV but if I am playing any video clips from the "TV" app, it does fill up the entire screen. The lightning connector has a very snug fit. Now only time will tell how long this adapter will last. But so far this is a 5 star rating.

Use this instead of cheaper knockoff!
I originally went for cheaper knockoff and I may have just as well set fire to the money I paid for it. Then I got this (OEM Apple brand) unit which worked perfectly. HINT: use this to hook up iPhone or iPad to hotel TVs. Get a ten foot long HDMI cable which will connect the adapter device to the hotel TV HDMI input and the lightning connector on this will then connect to iPhone or iPad. Then change “input selection” on the hotel TV to match the HDMI input # you have used and the TV will then project what you bring up on the Apple device. You can then project Netflix, Amazon , Hulu or whatever you have on the TV. We just spent two weeks in Maui and entertained ourselves each night with movies streamed from these providers (I guess I’m showing my age if I admit that that’s how I entertained myself at night in Maui for two weeks!). Seriously, you can improve your connection a bit by adding an Apple lightning extension cable (at least three to six feet long) which will allow you to have the source device (iPhone, etc.) further from the TV but this is not necessary just convenient. All the cables easily fit into a large ZipLock Bag (first photo). The second photo shows an “exploded view” of the cabling with the HDMI cable at the top, the adapter in the middle, the lightning extension To the left and below the adapter and the power cable to the right of the adapter. The adapter can just connect to the phone or you can use the (more convenient) extension cord. I was just able to sit on the couch in the condo and run the shows as I wished.

Great item, but buy an adapter extension cable to eliminate wear and tear
This Apple lightning cable adapter does the job for sure. Only downside is they wear out quickly. Only last a few months if plugged and unplugged often, which is the case if you’re plugging it into your iPhone, but cheer up. Perfect solution: I bought 6’ extension cable for $8 which I pluggged this item into and leave it and just unplug adapter extension cable from phone. You’re all welcome.

Worth the price, yeah it's expensive, suck it up.
Originally, I had a cheap HDMI to Lightning Bolt alternative, for ~$20. It worked for a while and then suddenly stopped working. I was using it to connect my phone to my computer's Elgato for streaming/video capture. It started to go wonky and I would have to reset it by unplugging and plugging it back then, then it sometimes didn't work, then it just outright stopped. At some point it also stopped charging my phone, even though it needed to be plugged into a power source to work. With this, however, I can plug straight into the Elgato and there's no fuss. It doesn't charge but it comes with a slot to allow charging, so that's nice. I also have a lot of cables at the ready with my desktop setup so it's not a bit deal. Although, ironically, I also finally upgraded my device (iPod 5th Gen -> iPhone 8) so I can just video capture natively. Whoops.

Works great
We live in the boonies with no cable, wifi or dish. I do own an iPad and just got unlimited data. I also have a amazon prime account. I used this baby and the recommended cable and hooked my iPad to my tv, holy cow! I can't believe I waited so long. Love being able to stream pretty much anything. Great device! I'm sure young people know all about this, but for us older folks, who are not tech savvy, it's a cool little tool. :)
