This carpet cleaner has seen things... indescribable things that no one shall see or smell. Ever. We use the carpet cleaner for all over cleans along with larger spots. But let me tell you a story that goes down in history... One day, my brother wanted my son and I to come over for dinner and so he could see his nephew. I told him that I wasn’t really sure my 150lb Pitt/Great Dane mix was feeling that great. She had the runs the night before but it seemed to be drying up. He, naturally being a brother, claimed I was using that weak excuse to get out of coming over. This peer pressure set in. I let my dog out one last time and left. For way too long. Keep in mind, my down stairs all hard flooring. The dogs have access to that, the carpeted stairs, and a small hallway of carpet. Should be fine. Narrator: It was not fine. Cue my return to the distinct smell of explosive diarrhea. The smell has filled the house. I see a couple of poo streaks down stairs and think, wow, what a stench for a few streaks. Oh but wait, there’s more. I slowly creep up the stairs and see brown spots as I climb up. Please no. Oh but wait, there’s more! I reach the top and see a few more small spots. Okay not terrible. BUT OH WAIT, THERES MORE!! I turn the corner and low and behold, a fecal nightmare. At this point, you know I have a big dog and there’s poo on some carpet. Big dogs = big poos. Not only were there two large streaks of runs and plops of patties all over. The dog done pooed up the bathroom door. Still not sure on the logistics but there was splatter and patter because it was on the door, the frame, and somehow the half wall on the other side. Now... the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The cleanup. I picked up as much waste as I could using the ole ‘hand in the bag’ technique so there was minimal solid waste. Keep in mind, the waste is cold so it’s been here a hot minute. I then pretreated with the Hoover pretreat spray, which I also highly recommend. Next was busting out the power scrub deluxe with pet cleaner shampoo. This cleaner scrubbed like there was no tomorrow. I had to do a little more than the manual recommended passes but not only do I not see any evidence from the crime committed, I can lay my face on the crime scene and SMELL NOTHING. NOTHING!!! This horrifying episode alone earned every penny spent on the carpet cleaner. Thanks for a great product Hoover and those who took this story journey with me. Always remember to immediately clean your machine afterwards so it doesn’t get smelly.

I put off hiring a carpet cleaner because of the inconvenience and cost since you just have to hire them again the next time. The Hoover power scrub deluxe is a great price, is easy to use and had the best reviews (even consumer reports rated it one of the highest) and I can use it when it's convenient to me. But does it work? Well considering I cleaned half the living room before realizing I had forgotten to switch it to 'wash', I thought it was doing great with just hot water rinse -even better when I turned the knob to add solution. I was worried the scrub brushes would over scrub and make the carpet fuzzy(some reviewers remove brush during the rinse time) but it was fine on my middle grade carpet. It has good suction. After a wash and a rinse I went over the whole area with just suction, as if I was vacuuming. A half hr after I've finished, it's just damp. My only minor complaint would be the cord is a little shorter than ideal and it tends to get in the way so you have to hold it up while cleaning. The weight is decent. Not too heavy but after pushing and pulling anything for an hour you may have a bit of an ache in the shoulder. All in all Im thrilled to have clean carpet. 3 kids and a dog and I just wanted to replace it. Coffee stains, spit-up, soda and juice, it was so embarrassing when company came over. But I can get a few more yrs out of my carpet now that it's clean! And if I want to do one room or ten it's no cost when you own a carpet cleaner and this ones great!

First, I should say this is my first time using a carpet washer, so I can't compare it to others, and I've only used it once (for several hours), so I can't speak to the longevity. I'll update my review if it breaks down as some other reviewers have mentioned. With that said - this is the best $135 I've ever spent. I'd been putting off dealing with my carpet since I have a senior Chihuahua that will probably (definitely) continue to have accidents on it - so spending $100 for a professional to come in and work on it felt pointless, and I wasn't sure how well an at-home one would work - but now that I have this, I wish I got it sooner. Now that my carpet is clean, I feel like this weight of grossness in my daily life has been lifted off my shoulders. As you can see in the pics, the area by my door was the worst - although there were a few stains in other areas as well. This washer made my carpet look almost like new. I'd say, compared to the intense stains I started off with, it's 98% better - and I didn't even spot treat it right before washing. I've cleaned spots right after the fact, but it never seemed to fully get it out, and after a while it got hard to tell where there were new stains to work on. We're talking about a 7 pound dog with a tiny bladder here (see photo), but over time, it really adds up. I did have to empty/refill the water tanks a bunch of times (maybe around 20 - at least 6 of which were by my door), but I didn't mind it too much - since I won't be doing a full-blown carpet cleaning every day - and the sizes of the tanks are just the right amount of water for me to not feel like it's difficult to carry between my room and the tub. I also like the spout on the dirty tank, making it easier to pour into the tub without it splashing out. I used the Hoover pet-specific detergent, but again, I can't compare to others just yet. My room looks amazing, and no longer requires a powerful plug-in scent going strong right by the door. It is almost completely dry overnight (very slight dampness by the door, where I finished last and did a lot of repeat washes). The "after" photo is from this morning, after joyfully walking barefoot on my carpet once again.

Last time carpet was cleaned: At least a year. Houehold Occupants: A 2 yr old chocolate milk junkie, a 6 yr old food spilling champion and a senior chihuahua who doesn't always make it to her doggie pad. Shipping: Amazon is amazing as usual. Packaging: Very well packed. All the pieces were there and intact. Setup: Easy. Open the box, attach the handle, fill it up with water & solution, plug it in and start cleaning. Filling: Easy. The openings on the water & solution tank make filling a breeze. No leaks so far. As for the tank size, I feel it's adequate. I believe I had to fill the water 4 times and used the entire sample solution bottle for my 10 x 12 living room. Cleaning: Wow! That's what my wife said when she first saw the carpet after I finished. I felt it put down a lot of solution though so I went back over the area twice with just water which made the rinse option come in handy. The heated air feature is not a gimmick, I feel it helps the carpet dry faster. While this thing isn't a miracle worker, compared to what the carpets were before, it definitely cleans! Emptying: Easy. The separate tanks and spout on the dirty water tank let you fluidly empty the tank when necessary. Manueverability: Easy. Given its smaller size and larger wheels, I had no trouble pushing/pulling this thing around the living room. The cord was long enough to cover the entire room. Upholstery cleaning: It cleaned our microfiber sofa! I was seriously considering replacing our current sofa with a leather one (still might) because this thing is a stain magnet. If I could find the guy who told me this was the best fabric for kids and pets...I digress. The spin brush worked ok for me although I mainly used the wide upholstery brush, scrubbing as I went. I can see why companies charge a lot extra to clean a sofa or chair; very time consuming. The only downside is I need to go back over the side I cleaned because I missed some spots as it is hard to tell when it's wet. Storage: It's the size of a vacuum, so it fits right next to Shark Navigator in the closet. The accessories bag that holds the hose and upholstery attachments has a hook attached to it which allows you to hang it on the machine when you aren't using it. Durability: Too soon to tell. I think most things can last a while if you take care of them (cleaning before storage, cleaning the brushes, not running it into walls/furniture etc.). Can't do much for manufacturing defects except hope Hoover stands behind their warranty. Overall toughts: I was debating between this and the Bissell Big Green Machine. Both had great reviews and videos on YouTube, but at $127 I couldn't pass this machine up. I expected not to like it and carefully opened the packaging so it would be easier to return it to Amazon later, but as you have read above, I really like this little guy and I'm keeping it. It might or might not clean as well as the $400 Bissell, but I'm happy with it so that's all that matters to me. Thanks for reading and I hope my review helped you. Have a great day!

Only used it once, need to run it again! Easy to use, from the water color it seems to have cleaned well. The carpet and room smelled so fresh when I finished. It was easy to clean the fabric furniture too.

I just moved into a new house about four weeks ago and not long after I moved in I adopted an adult dog who was not fully potty trained. He had a couple accidents in the house and I never knew if I was REALLY cleaning the accidents or just the top of the carpet. I didn't have any stains, but I wanted to get this to really get down in the carpet to make sure the urine was completely gone. I went over my carpet with a black light (pet stains will glow bright neon yellow/green). I didn't find any of my own dog's so I guess I cleaned those well enough. Just out of curiosity I moved my furniture to check there too. Sure enough I found a urine spot, I had doubts the previous owners had the carpets "professionally" cleaned before we moved in anyway. So I knew this stain was pretty old, at three months (when the previous owners moved out). I thought I would try this Hoover on it anyway to see if it worked. IT DID! I'm so impressed! Although the urine wasn't visible to the naked eye, I included pictures with the black light where you can clearly see it. I went over it a couple times with the wash cycle then a couple times with the rinse, mostly just testing the thing out. I swear I almost died when I saw the urine was completely gone. I'm not at all worried about potty training the new dog now because if this thing can work on accidents that old it can probably do anything!

I bought a Rug Doctor spot cleaner for $130 and it leaked everywhere. The dirty water tank left stains all over our carpet and i was trying to clean the stains out with the spot cleaner, but it ended up leaving more stains than it was worth, so I had to throw it out. I ended up renting those rug Doctors from a grocery store which did the job, but left our carpet soaking wet for four to five hours. This beautiful product on the other hand, which I have named Karen, is the best. Do you see any stains on this carpet? Because I don't. You know why? Because Karen can clean it like nobody's business. I love Karen. Assembly was easy, the heads work great. Carpets are dry within the hour. I would consider leaving my so for this machine.

I had two of these machines over the past 8 years, then switched to the Bissel ProHeat Pet last year. I switched because both of the Hoovers had started leaking (just small drips on the floor when moving it from place to place if it wasn't empty). After using the Bissel for a full year I just couldn't take it anymore and bought one of these again. The Bissel does not remove water from the carpet nearly as well as the Hoover. It left our carpet sopping wet, no matter how slowly I tried to go. Even using the hand tool I could not create enough suction to get even a majority of the water out of the carpet. As a result all of the water would sink into the pad and then "wick" back to the carpets surface as it dried, leaving big dirty streaky spots on the carpet. It was disgusting. The Hoover is where it's at. It pulls almost all of the water right back out of the carpet and has no "wicking" issues. I will gladly deal with this one dripping again (if it does) because it actually cleans the carpet like it is supposed to.

Purchased this machine in July of 2016 along with a Square Trade 3 year extended Warranty. The machine worked great for 2+ years with no issues even with regular use cleaning up after 2 dogs who like to mark spots regularly and shed a lot. This machine handled it like a champ. The cleaner would pull up set in stains and pet messes with ease. I even used it one time to pull water out of a soaked basement carpet after a plumbing leak, did a better job than my husbands $200 shop vac. He was shocked! In short this is a great cleaner. Just buy the extended warranty, see next section for more info as to why. A few weeks ago the motor started making some unusual noises and had burning smell, so I cleaned it and checked things over seemed to be a mechanical issue. Went online and found the warranty info called up square trade and after a few minutes and giving them some info. I had an Amazon gift card emailed to me for the replacement value of the cleaner with in minutes of being on the phone with them. I will be buying a new one with the card today. It lasted the 2 years of the manufacturers warranty which unfortunately is all I expect out of most consumer products these days. So the $7 extended warranty was worth it this time.
