I can't recommend this bed enough!! We bought it a few years ago when our son was a few months old. We wanted a bed that was easy to fold, easy to travel with, and one that our son could continue to use comfortably as he grew. We opted for the Lotus Travel Crib because it had all those characteristics as well as the open, mesh sidings (which some other travel beds lack). The bed has been incredible throughout my son's baby and toddler years-- we felt very secure with him when he was a baby (especially with the open sidings and the velcro tabs keeping the mattress and sheet in place). Now, as a toddler, he still fits easily in it at night and loves to "hang out" in it during the day. When a few of the tabs started to pull off the mattress I contacted customer service about the possibility of obtaining a replacement-- not only did they immediately offer to replace the mattress, they also included a new carrying bag to accommodate the slightly different size of the new mattress. I was so impressed by this--it made me like the product even more! All told, I am so happy that we purchased this, and have been and will continue to recommend it to everyone!

I debated buying this crib versus other travel cribs for some time. This one was the way to go. It's light, sets up in about a minute, takes down in two minutes, and has been great for traveling around the country and to other countries with a baby. We put him in it for a week or so before a trip to get used to it again, and he has no problems sleeping it it later. Now that he's 15 months old, the crib is still functional, and he is not able to tip it over as some other reviewers mentioned. The mattress is better than the one in the crib we use at home. The only downsides are the velcro straps that hold the sheet and mattress onto the crib take some effort to use properly and you really do have to buy the sheets made by Lotus because others don't fit and don't have the holes for the velcro straps. The sheets are so expensive. All in all, the crib + two sheets is cheaper than the Baby Bjorn which was my second choice. Finally, being able to carry this thing as a back pack has been very helpful for shlepping through airports.

I have held off on this review until now because i was waiting for a WOW moment. This was the first of 3 portable cribs I was considering, and my original impression was simply "ok". I was actually leaning towards a 3-star review and initiating a return once the carry bag started to fall apart. After traveling and utilizing other brands over the holidays, there are multiple factors making this one superior. 1) On the floor vs raised bed padding (this allows parents to utilize the side door and join baby in the crib with no weight restrictions) 2) Soft mesh vs steal & scratchy siding (this crib allows for baby face and limbs to be pressed comfortably while others feel like modified chicken wire) 3) Door on side vs nada (being able to comfort baby in their domain is such a unique feature & a must have)

I wanted to wait and use this product a few months before writing a review. We purchased this travel crib over 6 months ago for our 5 month old's first trip and have traveled with it three times since. We also use this crib twice a day as my daughter naps in it in her nursery (her wooden crib for overnight sleep is in our master bedroom). So, I can say that we've used this crib A LOT. It's nothing short of amazing. It's so easy to set up and take down. They even have the instructions on a tag attached to the crib so you don't have to fool with using a manual. It's very lightweight, so if you want to move it room to room you can easily do that and this makes traveling with it a breeze. My favorite part about this crib is the zip down panel. I'm a 4'11" tall mom and this is a lifesaver for me as I wouldn't not be able to reach my child from a traditional portable crib on the lowest setting. I feel like all petite moms absolutely need this crib. I also love how I can snuggle with my baby if she's having trouble falling asleep. There have been many times where I've dozed off laying half in this crib with her because it's so cozy and comfy. Other warn you of the mattress thickness, but I assure you that it's not a problem for us. It's just cushy enough (hence me also falling asleep laying on it) and my daughter may even sleep better on this mattress than she does our super expensive crib mattress. To sum this up, this crib is hands down our favorite baby product and one that we will continue to use with this baby and future children (we plan to get the bassinet attachment with our next child). Money very very well spent. P.S. Their customer service - the owner's themselves - are wonderful people who respond quickly. I wish I could hug them for inventing this.

This is not a paid review, I’m just responding to the standard Amazon request for review. I purchased this as a brand new grandma so that I would have a cramp in my house, and my daughter would not have to drag her traditional portable crib that she purchased for her house. Hers is a commonly known brand. I wanted something lighter weight and what I really loved was the zipper in the front. I knew it would be difficult for me to bend over the crap to lift a heavy baby in and out. So far we have only used it when she visits during the day. We have had it for about three months. It’s really easy to set up and to fold back down, thoughI do struggle a little with getting it all finally packed back into the bag because I have a little arthritis in my fingers. It’s pretty easy to push the safety straps through the holes in the bottom of the crib to attach them to the legs. Originally I found a little bit to fold it all back up because of the angles of the legs when you flip it upside down and fault. I have only one complaint – I had purchased the fitted sheets that were recommended on Amazon and when I got them home and washed I found that the little button hole holes in the sheets that are for the safety straps are in the wrong place. So I can’t recommend the sheets. I went to the manufacturers website and purchased the sheets they were selling for twice the amount of money and found out I got the exact same sheets with a little button holes in the wrong place. So far I have not found a fitted sheet that has the buttonholes in the correct place for this crib. I am going to try and get a newton baby mattress, the breathable one, but it appears that it may not be a perfect fit for this crib. It would be my only complaint that this complaint is not exactly the same measurements as the standard American porta crib and so American porta crib but trust sheets do not fit this mattress pad

Like many others out there, I could decide between the BabyBjorn and the Guava. I did A LOT of research, so this is going to be a lengthy review. :) Let me start by saying, you really can't go wrong either way. Personally, I was looking for a travel crib not for travel as much as just to replace my old pack n play that I no longer wanted to keep due to wanting to get rid of all of my baby gear that contained flame retardants. From my research, the only pack n play replacements currently on the market that do not contain flame retardants are: BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light, Guava Lotus, and the Nuna Sena. The Nuna Sena has the perk of being more like a traditional pack n play because it has two levels (one for a newborn), and it does not sit on the floor like the travel cribs. It also is bulky like a normal pack n play and isn't as easy to haul around. The Sena is also the most expensive choice at $250. It also is bulky like a normal pack n play and isn't as easy to haul around. You can find the Guava for $189 on their website, and the Bjorn averages in the $219-250 here on Amazon. First I bought the Bjorn because I couldn't resist the thicker mattress that everyone raved about. I will say that this is a VERY good travel crib. It is very nicely made, super easy to set up and take down, and the mattress is super comfy as others have stated. The footprint is slightly smaller on the Bjorn (see photo. The legs don't stick out quite as far as the Guava). The mattress is slightly wider than the Guava (see photo). The mesh of travel crib gets narrower as it gets to the top of the crib, making the top opening smaller than the Guava (see photo), so this makes the Bjorn not as good of a play space in my opinion, because it feels a little more closed in than the Guava does. To clarify to anyone out there that is wondering, the Bjorn mattress is made of polyurethane, not polyethylene (same is the case for Guava). I had seen a couple of reviews saying that it was polyethylene, but it is not. Also, the Bjorn is not completely made in Sweden. It says that the textile is made in China, and that the crib is "finished" in Sweden. The textiles are Oeko Tex Certified, which means that the materials used have been tested and certified to meet certain parameters. The tests for harmful substances cover:' legally banned and controlled substances, chemicals known to be harmful to the health (but not yet legally controlled), ' parameters for health protection. The Guava is not currently Oeko Tex Certified, but is Green Guard Gold Certified. The Bjorn is the clear winner for you if: 1. Your baby will be doing a lot of sleeping in the crib, as the mattress is definitely thicker and more plush than the Guava. I would also say that it does have a slight edge over Guava as far as quality, but not by a far stretch. There are currently no accessories to go with the Bjorn. It folds up compactly into a suitcase, whereas the Guava folds into a backpack. The Guava Lotus is another great choice for a non-toxic travel crib. I emailed the company, and they told me they are looking into Oeko-Tex certification, but are currently instead Green Guard Gold Certified. I was told "GreenGuard Gold standard that tests the actual product in a sealed chamber for 7 days to make sure there is no un-healthy offgassing occurring." The Guava mattress is about half as a thick as the Bjorn, and a bit firmer. Some people may actually prefer a firmer mattress for their baby, so this isn't a "con." I would still say the mattress is better than a standard pack n play mattress. The Guava is made in China, which is a bummer...but what isn't anymore?! I do appreciate that Guava is a small company out of California, and I have been happy with the customer service I have received from them thus far. Things that make the Guava a clear winner for you: 1. You travel a lot and want to be SURE that your crib can be carried as a carry on (in my experience airlines have always shipped my giant pack n play for free, but according to other reviewers this is not always the case. I guess I have been lucky ;)). 2. You want to use it as a play space (The Bjorn has a narrower top, making it a more claustrophobic feeling space for playing. Guava also makes a "Fun shade" that turns the crib into a fun play space to be used outside or inside as a fort of sorts. 3. Your baby wakes up when trying to lay them down (it's a long way down to the mattress on these travel mattresses, and sensitive babies are sure to wake up on the way down!). The Guava has a zipper opening that you can use to gently lay them down. 4. Your baby nurses to sleep. The zipper opening allows mom to lay down with baby if needed. 5. You have a bad back, you're short, or you are using the crib for the grandparent's house. Leaning down to pick up a baby that cannot yet stand up gets old really quick. My mom is 69 and about 5'1 and hated the Bjorn because she could barely lean in to pick my son up or lay him down. The Guava zipper solves this problem once again. Did you make it through this review?! I hope this helps someone, as I tried to cover some areas that other reviewers did not. I ended up returning the Bjorn, as I wanted the crib primarily as a safe play space at home that I could put baby when I needed to do something around the house. One last note: The American Baby Pack n Play sheet fits both of these mattresses, and is a lot cheaper than the ones made specifically for each crib. :) Feel free to ask me any questions, and I will try my best to answer.

I didn't buy it through amazon, but I'm writing a review because I want people to know how awesome it is. My husband and I both have our immediate families living in other states than our own and needed a crib to take to both New York and Minnesota that our one year old son would be comfortable in. So many of the regular cribs are ridiculously heavy and bulky and are not comfortable. I am so happy I came across the Guava Lotus when I was researching mobile cribs. We can take it on the plane when we travel as a carry on which saves us money. Also since it sits on the ground, the age of use goes higher. I can easily use this crib till my boy is three. He can still use it afterwards for fun. We currently use it in his room like a fun fort. I drap a blanket over the top and open the side and he runs into it all the time to play in it. It is so easy to set up and carry around. It's a bit pricier than other cribs but it in reality has saved us so much hassle and money. The only downside is that as my boy hit two, I knew the bed would be a little too flat for comfort. It has a bit of padding that is perfect for infants and past 1 years old, but by two maybe not as comfortable , depending on the child. We found an easy solution. We happen to have a large roll of bed top foam that my sister in law gave to us. We cut the foam to the size of the crib and slipped on the waterproof casing from the original bed. It worked perfectly to give my kid a more comfortable bed while extending the life of the crib. The foam still fits in the bag with the frame of the crib for easy travel . If you are willing to do go the extra mile to be creative to make it more comfortable, you can make it last longer .

I cannot say enough good things about this product. But I'll try. Before I get to the construction, I'll mention that this is a long-overdue review, because this company was as generous to us as customers as a company could reasonably be. Thank you, Guava! First, the construction - it's lightweight without being flimsy, and fully opened, the mattress rests directly on the floor (which yields a much more even sleep surface than products that "suspend" their mattress floors). Our son used this as his primary bed for an entire year (from about six months to a year-and-a-half), since our shoebox Queens apartment didn't have room for a full size crib. Still, it was nicely spacious for him, and the sidewalls were just high enough for him to eventually pull himself up, but not climb over. The zipper is low enough that he couldn't maneuver the side flap open from the inside, but when left open, it was a nice way for him to independently enter and exit the crib. We traveled a fair amount during that year, and it's a PERFECT fit for the overhead luggage compartments on all but the smallest commuter planes. The mattress folds around the frame, and protects it well during transit. It's totally easy to clean - even the mesh - and we learned this through some serious baby messes... But now the customer care story: my 6'3" husband was vacuuming one day, tripped over the cord, and fell INTO the crib. It's strong, but not that strong; two legs snapped. Incredibly, we'd just received a new twin mattress for our son to transition that very day, so he did have a place to sleep that night. But we still were dependent on the Lotus for travel. So we contacted Guava to purchase replacement legs (they're not designed to come apart, but can be unscrewed if you really want to). They immediately made it clear that we would not be charged (and yes, we told the truth about what had happened), and assured us that the new legs would be at our home by the end of the week. But it gets better: the next day, we got a call from them, apologizing that the legs were no longer the same design, so they'd already put an entire new frame in the mail to us, which arrived about 42 hours total after my husband had squashed it! Fast forward another year. Our son is two-and-a-half, and visiting his grandpa with his father. He's still happily sleeping in his Lotus.

The best baby gear item we have! For traveling and adventuresome families, you can't go wrong!
