Tiny & excellent for identifying deer ticks.
I was skeptical, given the price. When it arrived, I was surprised and a bit disappointed by how small it was. But it works. I was surprised by the clarity of the optics, the ability to see three-dimensional features, the trueness of the color (using the white, rather than UV light), and the magnification. The angle of the light helps a lot in seeing in 3-D. And the plastic cup at the bottom allows you to keep it steady on the table without crushing the specimen. I've used it successfully to distinguish features and colors on ticks the size of a sesame seed. Haven't tried it yet on the tiniest nymphs, the size of a poppy seed. This is my third pocket microscope" and by far the best, including one that costs that costs 5x as much. I wish there were a way to photograph the images, but what do you expect for under $5? (or under $3 is you don't mind waiting for delivery from China....)

Tiny convince microscope
I bought this microscope not for a real job of identifying counterfeit banknotes, but for educational purposes for my child. It is very small and it is convenient to take a walk in the Park, where you can see in the microscope the different objects that children find on the street. The microscope has a very bright backlight conventional LEDs and backlight mode by ultraviolet light, but this mode is not useful to me. Included was a magnifying glass, a nice gift.

Works great!!!
This thing is outstanding for the cost. Came w a cheap little case and led light is nice. For those complaining, your not using it right. Place the clear plastic part against whatever your looking at, whether it be a plant or a circuit board. Dont friggin try to hold it to your eye and try to find your target. Put the microscope ON what you want to look at, and thennnn look into it.....basically it works like a microscope, not a pair of binoculars and if you use it right it really works good.

This microscope/loupe thing is so good that I'm writing this review, even though I dont write reviews.
I've always kept 2 or 3 different Jeweler's Loupes for various reasons, working on electronics, removing splinters, investigating tiny insects, reading small print, looking at gems and jewelry, and often just for fun. I have been using it for a couple of months I guess, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I only recently realized that the magnification level is adjustable by sliding the eyepiece in and out. I took a chance and ordered this thing, expecting to be disappointed, because of the low price, but instead I experienced serendipity! I wasn't disappointed at all! On the contrary, I am shocked at the quality and usefulness of this thing. The LED is very white and is bright enough to be a small flashlight, and is much more useful than I could've imagined. There is also an ultraviolet LED that makes bright colors really glow brightly. I actually expect this to be really handy for some things, but I haven't figured out anything it's good for, yet. But I'm sure it really is handy. My wife got an identical one after she used mine a couple of times. She now carries it in her purse everywhere she goes, and she says she uses it at least once every single day. In fact, one of the best things about buying this loupe/microscope is that my wife likes it so much that she has finally stopped making fun of the oddball gadgets and things that I occasionally order through amazon.com! I didn't keep up with the shipping times, but it must've arrived quickly or else I'd remember it. And I also cant remember anything about the packaging, but we've received 3 of these and there has been no damage nor problems of any sort.

Fun close-ups for all!
Unbeatable for the price. Lightweight plastic, but decent image. Here in Texas we frequently encounter tiny cactus spines that needs seen to be removed. Or it's often handy to have a loupe for something small enough for observation. I actually wish I could give one to every kid in the neighborhood to encourage them to observe our world in a fun and unique way. We now now have multiples to keep all around the house to inspect garden pests, splinters, injuries...just about everything is worth a closer look at this price. Batteries have only been found online, but they're cheap in bulk and arrive in a week or so for free. I'm sure it'd work well as a jeweler's loupe, but it doesn't have high quality casing. These are more for fun and exploration.

Tiny but powerful!
This is the third pocket miocroscope that I've purchased. Guess I'll have to stop showing it off as it's so powerful that my friends beg me to give it to them. Think of anything tiny that you can't see and this little powerhouse will pop it into view. I carry it in my purse 'cause you just never know when you'll be at a garage sale or second hand shop and can't see the tiny marking on some items.

Damned cheeky little instrument!
Surprising little product. Initially, I was disappointed. The thing is small and feels as though it were cheaply made (and it is mass produced and Chinese). It is metal, plastic, glass, with a battery and LED's. Physically (it is always "folded") the thing takes up maybe half the volume of a pack of cigarettes. When I tried to focus this (by turning, as you would with a normal microscope), I couldn't get it to work. The reason: The focus is not a "turn to focus" function, it is a "push-pull" to focus. Again, that seemed cheesy, but: This is a remarkably inexpensive little gadget, and it turns out the magnification is every bit what it says it is: 60x (approx) and "true optical", no digital tomfoolery. And the thing has features you will not expect: There is a 3-position (center off) switch for the LED's. One direction lights just one blue LED, a weak but "colored" illumination. The other direction lights three relatively powerful and very bright white LED's. Both LED settings have specific uses, the 3 bright ones are for everyday use and work great. The dim blue is an "alternate light source", a feature of higher end products. Look: No one is ever going to use one of these to become a finalist for the Nobel. But this item works perfectly, as described, and the price is unbeatable. It is my favorite gadget of the year, at least "value-wise".

Reveal the Secrets of Nature
This a great little microscope for the home hobbyist. Granted you are limited to looking at a flat surface. But for $6.99, it is a fantastic deal. The microscope has either 2 LEDs for white light, or 1 for UV light (hence the currency checker, but UV is also great for looking at biological specimens like leaves, flowers or bugs. It is easiest to put an object on a flat surface. Turn on the appropriate light source, and then rest the shield of the eye piece on the surface. You pull out the eyepiece to adjust the focus. You and/or your kids are ready to explore the world, natural and man-made.

Bang for the bucks...Good product!!!
I had no special use for this product. I bought it out of curiosity. The casing is plastic (silver/aluminum color). It came with three LR1130 button batteries and a pleather pouch for storage. For replacement, the battery is available on Amazon, not yours local Walmart store. To replace the battery, you push down on the battery cover before turning it, else it will not turn. I guessed it's child-proof. They failed to mention it in the product guide, so it took me awhile to figure it out. Most loupe has 1 LED light and 1 UV light. This one has 3 lights. The UV light is in the middle. The two LED lights are bright making it easy to see the details. The light toggle switch has 3 positions. The middle position is off. The other positions toggle UV and LED lights. This is a microscope. You slide the barrel (Black end in the picture) up and down to focus, instead of moving the loupe. Now that my curiosity is satisfied, I will find a use for it. It's a good item to have on hand for examining gemstones or whatever at 60x. Bang for the bucks, highly recommended.
