Best Toy For Child With Limited Palate Preference

I purchased this set for my 10 month old son. At the request of his speech therapist we ordered a "play food" set in order to encourage him to put them in his mouth to expand his preference for different texures. After 3 days of "play eating" -- particularly the grapes and blackberries -- he expanded his preferences tremendously! This is just the right amount of rigidity I was looking for. I didn't want "hard" hollow plastic food I had seen elsewhere. This is coated with a softer rubber and a few of the fruits/vegs "give" just a bit with a squeeze. And now he LOVES playing with these as sensory objects too. The tote bag is ridiculously cute and I like being able to show him the real thing next to his play food. Perfect size, not too many items, and great price!

Good quality

I purchased this set for my two toddlers. The play fruit is very realistic looking, great size (not tiny and flimsy), durable, and feel sturdy, not hollow like the cheap plastic fruit. It’s nice that they include a bag for pretend play, but let’s be honest, are toddlers really ever going to put them back in the bag?! Feels like a basket would have been better to help parents with easy clean up.

Quality play set

Bought this fruit and veggie set for my 2 year old who received a play kitchen for Christmas. I knew from the reviews not to expect that the veggies filled the little bag completely as pictured, so no disappointment there. The amount provided is more than adequate, and my husband and I were amazed with the amount of detail on each piece. The plastic is soft and thick. Everything about it just feels like a quality product, especially compared to the cheap plastic food that came with our play set. Overall, very please, and won't hesitate to purchase my Learning Resources products.

18 month old loves it

The fruit is a denser type of material that I really like. My daughter will sometimes pretend to eat them but still bite down and it doesn't dent nor does it leave teeth marks. Reminds me of the targets you can shoot that self heal but not nearly as heavy. Every kid should have fake fruit to learn colors and words. Bag is much better quality then expected. Note: people complaining about the smell must have some sensitive noses or something. I smelled them and yes it's a plastic type of smell but not bad. Smells no different then the Slide we got our daughter and the rocking horse that's made from that same dense plastic. Another plus is the chemicals that are NOT used.

Perfect play food!

I love this play food. It's the most realistic stuff I've been able to find. The pieces are also very durable and easy for little hands to grasp and play with. My sister has a few sets of Learning Resources play food for her kids, so I was familiar with the brand when I purchased this set for my son for his first birthday. My sister's sets are several years old and are still in perfect condition (except for the ones the dog chewed holes in). The paint does not come off with wear, and the kids haven't bitten through or torn off parts of the plastic, either. They're firm but squish-able, and the material is smooth to the touch but not slippery, so little kids can grab onto it without a problem. Though they're not "life-sized," the fruits and veggies are a good size for kids, too - they're not small enough to pose a choking hazard, but also not too big. They're also not to scale -- the head of lettuce is about the same size as the onion, the ear of corn is about four inches long, etc -- but the shape, coloring and details are all very life-life. The tote in this set is a cute little addition. A good size for my one-year-old, and all of the fruit fits in it well, without being so full that they fall back out. I'll be buying more Learning Resources play food for my son in the future! For now, this 16-piece set is a perfect starter set. I don't need 30-something pieces of play food all over my house... yet :)

Nice toy for a toddler.

As others have said, these are made of a nice material (the carrot is made from a harder plastic - my husband things it is from some other set). The bag fits all the fruits and veggies, and would fit even more. (there is filler in the bag pictured for sure!) The bag is really nicely made; I was surprised by that. It has helped my 23 month old learn to say other fruits and veggies that he didn't know, like corn and apricot (since we don't eat those). We use it to pretend to make a salad, it is fun. I wish it did have a bell-pepper (especially since it is on the bag). Overall, a nice product. The price seems right for what you get.

A must have for little ones!

Bought for my 15 month old daughter for Christmas and it was perfect! The quality is great and the tote bag was a perfect size. Learning Resources have been one of our favorites and this product did not disappoint!! A must have for all kid kitchens!

Perfect for Toddlers

The play food in this set is absolutely perfect for toddlers. It is the right size and heft. Fits well in little hands and isn't too heavy, but also has a nice firm feel. The colors are bright and attractive. The "grocery bag" is of surprising quality. Very thick cloth and stitching - seems like it will hold up very well to active play. Fits all of the food items perfectly. Really happy with this food play set!

So perfect for toddlers!

First, this is really well made and made to last. The solid surface fruit does not contain sharp edges or holes where water can enter and grow microorganisms and the material is soft rubber-like. The quality is excellent and meets day-care standards. Easy to wash, easy to sanitize. A lot of play foods lose their color when washed frequently, I don't believe this is going to be the case with this set. The bag is so cute and the perfect size; filled to the brim with fruit and veggies it is still lightweight for little hands and arms to carry. The fruit is not only more realistically colored but the detail is perfect. I recommend without hesitation.

Perfect toys to teach your young ones about fruits and vegetables. Make sure to wash them thoroughly before use. Your child/children will love them! My little one loves included bag. She puts all her other toys in it when were traveling. You can never go wrong with "Learning Resources." Big fan!
