Couldn't ask for a better deal
Would highly recommend. Bought this for my wife for Christmas 3 years ago now, and she's had a latte from this machine nearly every day since then! After ~1500 brews, here are my thoughts. * Easy enough to make a good, consistent cup, even my kids can run it and it turns out great. * Under the hood, everything still seems to work as perfectly as the day we bought it. * Pays to keep it clean (especially the milk steamer, it can get clogged a bit). * Maybe obvious, but it's best to use espresso grounds (if it's not fine enough, your quality won't be good). * The printed markings around the switch (and all over that silver area) have faded, I guess because of the heat. Not a big deal, as there are only a few positions and it's easy to remember.

Graet Espresso machine and light weight too
I contacted the manufacturer after unit failed for leaking water out the bottom. Then, through a long process of proving it leaked, (taking video pictures to send them) they agreed to send a new unit. I would rather have had a refund, even though an Amazon 'rep' was on the phone with me, they never offered to take it back, or refund me. I await a new unit, but am not happy with Amazon's refund promise, nor the coffee makers long process to honor its warranty. Imagine only two days old, and I had to go through this process. UPDATE: I received a brand new unit from DeLonghi manufacturer, and in the meanwhile I purchased another for my travel trailer on a trip. It is brand new and still in the box, so I asked if I could return this in place of the defective one, and Amazon agreed. Thank you AMAZON, and Sebastian the other rep. BTW, This is a great coffee/espresso machine. By one from Amazon, they are a great company!

Good machine
This is a good machine. Comes close to my old machine which I still miss. I personally use it 2 -3 times a day. I'm very happy with it. My last machine was tall and the steamer was able to accommodate a large milk frothing jug or travel mug to steam the milk. My only real complaint it some times not, every time, the unit it will leak from the left side and flood my counter when I fill the water reservoir without removing it. Now I just put a towel down in case it happens.

Great buy
Big fan of their espresso machines. Had a cheaper older version for almost 5 years before it stopped working. And I used it a few times every day. Was going to get the same one but decided to get a newer version, and glad I did! The espresso pour is perfect and the steamer is strong! The older cheaper one didn't always give a good pour and the steamer was more watery. I love thus machine!

Great Home Machine
Great home machine, easy to use! Even my 3 year old granddaughter can make coffee on the machine, she loves to help. It's simple for anyone to use and makes a great espresso. The only thinget I would change is to separate the tamper, don't build it in, otherwise I expect to be making lattes, macchiatos and espresso on this machine for a long time to come.

Best machine I have purchased to date
Absolutely love this espresso maker. I have gone through so many espresso makers over the years. Even broke down and bought an expensive $400 pod with milk frother thinking that it would last...it didn't. This machine is easy to use and makes the best espresso drinks ever. Never had a machine where I had a nice crema on top. Froths milk easily and quickly. Flip the switch and watch the espresso flow. Highly recommend this machine. Update: nine months later and I still love this machine. Still making espresso as well today as it did when I first bought it. Longest working machine I have had in the last 10 years.

As a first time espresso machine buyer this machine is easy, good quality, and wasn’t intimidating price wise
Bought for my husband for Christmas and he loves it!!! I have not personally used this machine and have nothing to compare it to but i chose it because i didn’t want to make a big Finacial investment since it is our first espresso machine and i wasn’t sure how it would go. This machine had good reviews and costumers seem to think it’s is a great balance of quality and price. So far my husband uses it at least once a day and keeps telling me what a great gift it is. He was very excited to get it and is really enjoying making drinks for them both of us!

Great budget espresso machine
This is an excellent budget espresso machine, that will let you make "good" espresso if you have a decent grinder and tamper. About six months in it's been very reliable. If you want to make "excellent" espresso, you'll have to spend more money. But it's an honest machine at a good price that doesn't make me long for one of the more expensive Breville models.

Now If I Can Only Perfect My Method
I've been an avid coffee drinker for decades. Recently I eliminated dairy from my diet, so Half and Half is no longer my morning friend. A good cup of coffee has been hard to come by ever since. In an effort to put some oomph back into my mornings, I decided to buy a new Espresso maker. My old Krups had been put away for a while. When I cleaned it before using it again, I discovered it had developed a bad case of the pits. I returned the first brand I bought because, like my old Krups, it had an aluminum boiler. I settled on the De'Longhi EC220b for its size and the fact that it has a stainless steel boiler. I've had it three days so far and here are my first impressions. As other reviewers have noted, the filter holder arm is very stiff when it first arrives and only swivels to left of center when first used. Don't try to force it. It loosens with use. Now I can easily move it to center as the directions require. I suggest downloading the Getting Started manual from the maker's website. The illustrations are in color and they are accompanied with printed explanations, instead of just the pictures as they are in the instructional manual that comes with the Espresso maker. For me, the hardest part of making espresso was realizing that a double shot is only 2 ounces of coffee. If you are used to drinking a 16 ounce cup in the morning like I am, it means a lot more work making a couple of espressos instead of loading a coffee maker and waiting. Of course, there is no comparison when it comes to taste. After being surprised by lukewarm Espresso with the first Espresso maker I purchased, I followed the De'Longhi instructions and primed the Espresso maker before making the first cup. (If brand X had suggested this, I'd probably still own it.) One, it warms the cup you will drink from, and two, it heats the water to the proper temperature and eliminates the possibility of a lukewarm Espresso. I'm still getting accustomed to the proper amount of water to use. My son, the fledgling barista, found instructions online that suggest the best Espresso requires 20 grams of properly ground coffee, tamped at 30 lbs. of pressure; then you count to 32 after the dripping begins. He is right so far. The trick is getting the correct grind and the proper tamp. I bought a tamp and merely drop it onto the grinds a few times, rather than twisting it and trying to estimate 30 lbs. of pressure. Once the coffee is about 1/8th an inch below the filter holder rim, I stop tamping, attach it and begin brewing. This method has worked well for me. I really like this machine, so far. I have concerns about how long it will last, but I am careful not to run the pump more than 45 seconds at a time as the instructions indicate. I have been keeping the water tank on the machine and have been pouring water into it from a measuring cup, so as not to disturb the seal that rests between the tank and the machine. Good luck finding that seal a few years down the road. I went on a search for E.S.E. pods at several stores. Nothing but K-cups, and they are... everywhere. It made me wonder if this unit is old technology, since it cannot be used with K-cups. I am now investigating E.S.E. pods online. I also bought a grinder and have been experimenting with grinding French Roast since I have a few cans in my pantry. I'm looking forward to experimenting with other beans. The search for the perfect Espresso has begun. What a great way to spend a few snow days. Yum!

It turns out the parts were just really really dirty. I took a Phillips screwdriver and undid the ...
I've owned this espresso maker for just under 3 years. It is a bit loud but has worked very well almost daily for that length of time with filtered water. Just this weekend, it gave out. After looking at this same model again, and thinking about buying it, I realized that the issue was not the pump as plenty of steam was coming out of the wand. It turns out the parts were just really really dirty. I took a Phillips screwdriver and undid the part where the portafilter and basket connect to clean it out. The parts in the basket also screw off by hand and I was able to thoroughly clean the parts and "unclog" the holes. It's running as good as new. I will say the symbols on the knob just faded...but it runs!
