Great developmental toy
For us, we didn't have any problems with the quality of this toy, we've had it for a couple of years now, and our son really loves it (he has a fondness for toys with shape sorting elements). It has many ways it could be used to teach concepts, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. We haven't had any issues with chipping paint, and I personally don't think there needs to be magnets to hold the pieces on. It props up at a bit of an angle, so if you're sitting at a table with your kiddo, my experience has been we don't need to prop it up. Our son developmentally isn't at a point yet where we're using the time teaching functions on it, but it's something I think is really a cool feature of this toy.

3 in 1 M&D toy
This is 3 educational toys in 1, shapes, numbers, digital clock. High quality Melissa & Doug wood product as usual. My nephew loves this. I told my brother to Velcro the blocks so they don't get lost.

Great Value as a Shape-Sorter and Introduction to Other Mathematical Skills
I bought this clock primarily for the shape-sorting aspect it offers. 12 unique shapes to to be fitted into their respective holes on the board. I feel it is a good value for the money in providing my 14 month old a broad range of shapes and colors from which to enhance her spatial skills. As she grows, she will also be able to engage her brain in number sense, and eventually telling time. Again, the skills offered with this product are a strong value for the investment. It's a great addition to the playroom, classroom, or homeschool room. My only criticism of the Melissa and Doug brand, is that once you get accustomed to the thicker, higher quality of brands like Janod, Hape, Haba, or even the Alex line of wooden toys, you can clearly tell the craftsmanship is not on the same level. This product is much thinner, and not sanded to the same softness as toys by the other brands. Dollar for dollar, with all the skills this particular toy offers I still highly recommend it as a 5-star purchase; but overall, brand for brand, I don't feel that Melissa and Doug offers toys that will stand the test of time as well as some of the other manufacturers on the market.

Great toy! Great gift as well
Especially love this wooden puzzle clock. It's great for the different stages and will continued to be appreciated. First as a puzzle (helping the fine motor skills), then learning the numbers and shapes (I didn't even know some of the names of the shapes :D), then to teach the little one how to tell time. I received one as a gift initially and have purchased this one as a gift for my friend's toddler to enjoy. Her toddler started playing with it right away and completely ignored the other gift. I'm planning on gifting more in the future.

It's amazing. He knows what a trapezoid is
My grandson who is 2 1/2 years old. He first learned all his letters that his colors and his numbers. Then he got hooked on shapes. So I seen this clock with all it's shapes. He lives in Arizona and I live in New Jersey. So my son Face Timed me and was telling me how that's the only toy he plays with out of all the toy's got for Christmas which was a lot considering he has a lot of ants in uncles. He told me he want to bed with the shape clock and my son hide it in his room when he fell asleep. As I was Face Timing with my son Christmas morning my grandson walk downstairs with the clock and shapes and we both started laughing because he found it and he wasn't coming down without it. There's some shapes in there that I don't even know what they're called and he knows them. It's amazing. He knows what a trapezoid is. To be honest I'm 56 years old and I did not know that.. Anyhow he loves it.

Five Stars
I like this clock so much. I love that it is wooden and very well made. I also like that it is a puzzle with removable shapes as well as a clock. I like that the minute and hour are movable and that the minutes are listed on the clock to help learners understand. I home school a kindergartner and I use this in in my home school classroom pretty regularly. I try to use it every morning that we have "school" and have her do it as part of the morning work. I will ask her what time is it and have your look at at roman numerals clock then match it with this one. It is really helping her to learn to tell time. I also like that it has a double feature and can be given to my 2 year old son when we are done telling the time. He likes to take the shapes apart and put them back or line them up. I can also use this for shape identification and counting. This was a very good buy with lots of possibilities.

Great learning toy to grow with your child.
I purchased this as a gift for my 2 year old nephew who is learning his colors and numbers. When he starts learning the more difficult shapes, he'll be able to use this as well. He loves doing puzzles and this is a perfect learning toy. The numbers are all different colors and shapes that will only fit into the proper spots on the clock. As he gets older and starts learning to tell time, they can use the same toy to teach him how to read a clock. There are no super-small pieces with this that I would be worried about him putting in his mouth. The Melissa & Doug toys I've bought my family in the past have held up very well and can take a beating from a toddler/child. I'm sure this one will be no different, it seems to be very sturdy.

Just what I was looking for with the complex shapes
I bought this because it has the complex shapes. My little one already knows the basic shapes and some more complex shapes like a crescent, semi circle, and trapezoid. The 2 is a parallelogram, 5 is a pentagon, 6 is a hexagon, 8 is an octagon, and 9 is a trapezoid. My little one decided that the 1 is a cross (it’s a quatrefoil). This set helps teach how to tell time, colors, numbers, shapes, spatial awareness, and math. It’s a great addition to our home preschool and I’d only change one thing, I’d make it magnetic, I already knew that it wasn’t but it would have been nice. When it’s time to clean up and put things were working with away my little one likes to carry this to the bin it goes in and the pieces always end up dropping off.

Great quality, great for toddlers and kids!
Melissa & Doug puzzles are the best quality! I also love the artwork and designs. I swear they're the only ones who make these wooden puzzles anymore. Lots of great designs! & I love that they always have ideas for activities on the back. The clock puzzle is made up of nice thick, durable pieces. It's gotten a lot of use and still looks brand new. Great for toddlers and young kids. You can use it to teach shapes, numbers, and to tell time. The hands of the clock do rotate around the clock face.
