LONG THOROUGH REVIEW from a skeptical pessimist
This collar is PERFECT. Okay so I was really really super skeptical about buying this for several reasons: - I hate the thought of my two pups having to constantly wear an extra collar - I've tried the flea/tick collars from Walmart and they were greasy and had a weird smell but even worse, they did NOT work. - I've read some of the horrifying reviews - I'm just a skeptical person and simply didn't think this would work. BUT IM A BELIEVER NOW. For context, I have a 3yr old short haired ~45lbs pup (pitbull, lab, corgi mix) and and a 7yr old long haired ~30-35lbs pup (Lhasa Apso terrier mix). I live in Maryland where the weather is just always unpredictable. I feel like we have like 6 seasons instead of 4. We have woods in the back of our house which deer always like to frequent, along with a swamp/pond across the street. This spring and the start of this summer we had a monsoon season where afterwards, there was an annoying infestation of ticks (mostly Lone Star and Deer ticks). It was disgusting. I legitimately could not take my dogs out for a walk without finding at least 4 ticks on them afterwards and on me!!! And this is on top of treating my dogs with the monthly tick/flea topical oil treatment. That's how bad it was, which is what prompted me to buy the Seresto collars. (I bought Large for both of them) Once I did and placed them on my dogs, after maybe like 1-2 days, I have not found a single tick on them. I know that sounds so far fetched but I don't know what else to say because it's absolutely true. It does take about 1-2 days for the medication to get into the system (from experience and from *I think* what the package said) because I still did find a few ticks on them the next day. But after that, not a single tick! They've been wearing the collars for about 1.5 months now so I'm still keeping an eye on them (I plan on updating this review after 7-8 months to see if the claim of lasting 8 months is legitimate). Right now though, I am sooo happy. Now I want to address some of the other reviews I saw. After I saw some of the pictures of rashes this collar left on some dogs, I was worried, especially cause my smaller one already has exist in skin issues. But both are doing perfectly well with no skin issues from the collar. I don't want to be presumptuous and I may be totally wrong, but I'm thinking maybe the rashes the other dogs had were because they're not used to wearing collars? So they just kept itching at it? Maybe? I say that because for me at least, my dogs are used to wearing their regular collars nearly 24/7 since they were babies. So when I added the Seresto collars, they were unphased. But then again I'm also aware that just like humans, each dog reacts differently. Luckily, My dogs have no rash problems from the collars. As for some claiming that the collar doesn't work.. I'm not sure what to say other than that they really truly work for my dogs, and I live in a heavily tick infested area. It really is like night and day in terms of how well this collar works at preventing tick bites. Especially with my long haired dog since ticks would easily hide in her fur. The collar isn't greasy nor does it have a strong emanating odor. BUT it's still medicated so it still has a very slight residue to it but nothing that interferes with everyday life. I'm sold and plan on continuing with this product from here on out. NO MORE GREASY NASTY SMELLY TOPICAL MONTHLY TICK GREASE! **Side note** Make sure you read the packaging instructions carefully!! They mention a few things like about how the efficacy is shortened to something like 5 months for dogs who swim a lot, or how the collar is designed to unlatch if the dog pulls incase it gets stuck on something (which I thoroughly appreciate) so you CANNOT substitute this as a walking collar! The collar DOES unlatch if you hold onto it and your dog pulls (personal experience: guests came over, one jumps and I accidentally grabbed the Seresto collar and it unlatched). But you CAN reattach it!! So definitely take the time to read the package instructions. Hope this helps! I really loveeeee this collar. THANK YOU SERESTO!!!

They work
We got one of these for each of our dogs. The both had fleas when we put the collars on. We were giving one of them the monthly pill for worms and fleas and ticks but still had fleas. Now we can't find a flea on either of them. I never thought I'd pay $50.00 for a flea collar but our neighbor recommended them since they had four of them. Plus they are made by Bayer( aspirin company) so I thought they ought to work. They are supposed to last 8 months which makes them cost about $6.00/mo and we've only had them about two, but as I say, no fleas. We still have to give the heart worm pill since we live in the South close to rivers, creeks, bays, and Gulf of Mexico which makes for lots of mosquitos. My 2nd time to order. Our first ones lasted a little over 6 months with no fleas. New price makes that about $9.00/mo. Still good for no worry about fleas and ticks.

I think the collar is worth the money based on what I have seen

Finally! Something works!
We live in Florida in what feels like the flea capital of the world. We get fleas on us when we play in the yard and it doesn't seem to matter what we do. They come back with a vengeance. We had been using Advantix II for many years on our Boxer and it just wasn't working. We recently had a flea out break INSIDE the house and I was sick of it. We decided to try the collars after reading the many good reviews, but with caution and common sense. She's had the collar on for about a week and a half and I sprayed her down with Vet's Best Natural Flea + Tick Home Spray, 32 oz and only saw ONE flea!! That is MAJOR improvement from two weeks ago when we'd easily see 15-20 dead fleas after spraying her down. I've definitely noticed that she's not itching or licking as much. The collars are so easy to use and way cheaper in the long run. With that being said, we paid close attention to her the first few days. There was no change in behavior and no skin irritation, but if YOU notice something with your pet REMOVE THE COLLAR ASAP. Don't wait until they're lethargic or their "skin is melting off". This is a new medication and like with any medication there can be side effects For us, this has worked great and we will definitely repurchase as long as they work! I've started to order them for the cats as well.

very happy!!!
This product works great! It does seem to take a little while to work however. I have read the same thing on other reviews. It works by releasing the active ingredient with the movement of the dog. So make sure it is snug enough to slightly rub the skin without causing pain or discomfort. My Pebbles is 13 and she has a pretty bad allergy to flea bites. Most of her hair past her shoulder blades was gone. She had sores and scars on her back. The flea topical drops didn't work. I tried a lot of things before I purchased Seresto. I am so happy I made the investment. It worked well on my second dog, Pierre, as well. After about a month of wear I noticed a difference. And now after a few months we still have no biting, no more hair loss, and Pebbles actually gained a little weight from an increased appetite (which I attribute to her being happier!) I will purchase this product again when the time comes. It is well worth the money, and actually cheaper than buying the drops every three months.

Live in an tick infested area. Never picked a tick off the dog last year. Wished they made these for people.

Look no further
So let me say first I have not been compensated in any way for this review, and I rarely take the time to write a review. Having said that, I felt this was so necessary because of our journey with our pups. Last year we moved to a new (old) home in a beautiful, but very wooded area. Our dogs have never ever had a flea or tick. We have 3. A basket that lives outside, and our girls who live inside. Well, we got fleas, and when I say we..I mean we. The dogs, the house, the yard. It was horrible. We treated, and treated and treated some more. Both professionally as well as every at home method out there. We spent thousands..yes thousands of dollars, and the poor dogs...oh my gosh. It was terrible. We battled for over 3 months even after the first hard freeze! I was so thankful when we finally won that battle! So, May rolls around and I saw these collars on Amazon. I was somewhat hesitant to buy because of the terrible reviews saying the collar had hurt the dogs, but I knew I would watch closely and take it off before it got bad, if it did. Bought the collars, placed them, and here we are October and I am not kidding when I say we have not had 1 single flea or tick on any of the dogs!! NOT 1!! We are customers for life! Now... as far as the negative side effects I see folks talking about. I cant say for sure what caused their trouble, but if you follow the instructions to a T, place the collar loosely, (it only needs to be in contact with the fur) and *make sure it is a authentic device and not fake. I'm sure your pet will be as happy and healthy as ours! I included pics of our very elderly lab, no trouble ( I watched for neurological)! And our poodle no trouble ( I watched for skin)!! ...and our Bassett Bogey, well he's just happy as a lark and outside rolling in the dirt right now🐕

It works! The first product we've ever used that actually kills fleas!
We have an outdoor dog that is absolutely covered in fleas nearly year round, since we don't get hard freezes here in North Carolina. We've tried Frontline, Capstar, Program, Advantage, flea collars, flea shampoos, spraying fipronil in the area around the barn where he lives, diatomaceous earth, brewers yeast and garlic, cedar oil and cedar chip bedding, and nothing worked. We even used corn oil to coat and suffocate the fleas, which worked but only for a day or two. I was convinced that these are zombie fleas and immortal. And the poor dog was miserable and scratching. I hesitated to pay $50 for a flea collar that might not work, but took the chance and ordered this Seresto collar. We put it on the dog two days ago, and I'm amazed! The first day, we noticed that the fleas on the front half of his body were gone. Today we didn't find one single live flea on him, nostrils to tail tip. We did notice some dead ones on him. This is the first thing we've ever found that got rid of/killed the fleas! He was lying happily in the sun this morning, not scratching or twitching, for the first time in months. Since the collar worked, I've also ordered one for our little indoor dog and the indoor cat, who also have fleas (but not as many). If these collars really kill the fleas for 6-8 months, they are worth every penny of the cost. I will update my review after a few months, to report whether or not the flea killing effect lasted. I'll also keep an eye out for irritation, baldness or oozing sores where the collar lies (since some pets have had an adverse reaction to collar) and report that here if it happens. For now, I'm very, very happy to have something to help combat the fleas! --------- Edited 6 June 2017: It's only been a few weeks but I wanted to update. No fleas on the pets - if they pick one up in the grass it hops off without biting. The small dog was a little lethargic for a day or so (just acted tired and didn't want to play - he was still eating) after we put on his collar, but we kept a close eye on him and he was back to himself on the third day. No rawness, sores or extreme symptoms from any of the pets. I also set off some Hot Shot flea fogger/bombs in our carpeted bedrooms, where we had fleas (the pets sleep with us). Between the collars and the bombs, we are finally, at long last, flea free! I'll update again at the end of the collars' lives to report how long they lasted. Buy this collar - you won't regret it!

Was worried before, ended up working great!
I have two pit boxers, recently their outdoor enclosure became infested with fleas and the dogs had them bad. We live in the woods so ticks are an issue as well. It took me a few days to do research on what I should do for them and I took a chance on these collars after reading mostly positive reviews. 24 hours after putting these collars on them all fleas were gone. The dogs demeanor and energy immediately improved and I am seriously grateful that there are no more fleas on them. Haven't seen a tick on them either. I was very concerned after seeing the bad photos and horrible experiences others have had but my dogs have not had any reaction so far. I am not entirely sure if it is related but the dogs fur does have a slightly "dusty/chalky" kind of quality now that they have the collars on. I am not sure if this is due to the collars (which do have some kind of "dust" on them) or not but its not really an issue (you can't see it + it doesn't come off on your clothes as far as I can tell). Either way I have not noticed any negative effects so far. It's been about 2 weeks, so far so good. We will see how long they last and if they are effective after repeated uses. Will update this post in 6-8 months. Update: Its been over a year and I am still very pleased. Just bought another one and it has been on for the past week or so - still no problems.

A yearly must have for us!
We have been using seresto collars on our 47lb short haired dog for three years now with amazing success. We live rural and our dog spends a *lot* of time off leash in the woods. Ticks are huge, horrible, problem here. Before these collars, I would pick so many ticks off the dog after being out - my record is 36 (and that's literally after about 2hrs in the woods). We tried literally everything else: nexguard (vet prescribed pill) it did kill any ticks that bit her, but didn't stop her bringing them into the house where I'd find them crawling up my damned walls. Essential oils, all sorts of natural powders, collars and oils. We were trying to avoid chemicals as we have children. However, this collar works. And it works perfectly. When it's on her, she literally never has ticks. I will still occasionally find them on her bed very rarely, but they are *always* dead. And absolutely no ticks crawling about my house when she's wearing this (without the collar I'll usually find at least one lost tick a day wandering about on my floors). My dog has had zero reactions to the collar. I have it on her from late April/early May through November or December. And it works the entire time. And in the hotter months she spends a good deal of time swimming in the pond or the ocean, and the collar stays working. The single issue I've had is when I put the collar on as per the instructions, she is guaranteed to lose it - they come off when she's out in the woods hunting (we learned this the hard way, losing two, which is bloody expensive). My solution here is to use elastic bands and attach the seresto collar to the inside of her regular dog collar. I used to sew it in but realised elastic bands work just as well and are less work. The added bonus having it on the inside of her collar also means kids are less likely to touch it. If you live somewhere where ticks are a real problem, I highly recommend this collar. It works, and, at this stage, that's all I care about.
