Sander is #1 A-OK.
I had 1/4 sheet sanders before, a Ridgid one which ended up being useless because the plastic parts that keep the sand paper on got worn out and won't hold paper anymore and a porter cable one. I can highly recommend the porter cable 1/4 sheet sander. I also highly recommend this Bosch Random Orbital Sander. The little dust collection thing works well and if hooked up to the shop vac well that's even better. I'll probably reach for this over the1/4 sheet sanders.

Great performance and great price!
I bought this sander to replace a porter cable unit of the same size that failed. I inherited the porter cable, so I had never used any other unit until now. This bosch unit blows my old unit out of the water. There is so much less vibration on this little sander than my old sander, and the dust collection is far superior. Even with the dust collector attached on my old unit I had to use a mask and keep the garage open for ventilation. I recently did a built in desk in a spare bedroom and needed to sand the unit in place. I used this unit and there was hardly any dust in the air at all. When I was finished, I took the unit to the trash can and emptied the canister, that simple. At this price point and quality, I wouldn't bother looking at any other model.

Excellent quality and reliability
This ROS is a terrific little machine. I got it primarily for sanding, but I've also used it for buffing out compound on gel coat and for buffing out paste wax. It's a workhorse. The velcro that's on the sanding disc is super grippy, and I've had no problems with sanding discs slipping or coming off. The cord is nice and long, and the adapter that's included for the Shop Vac hose is actually the right size. The bag it comes in is sturdy and good for storing not only the ROS but also sanding discs and buffing pads. All in all, I've been extremely satisfied.

Hard to go wrong with this sander.
This has become my "go-to" sander for both small and large jobs. I work with reclaimed barn wood and make anything from large, heavy, 12' conference tables to small night stands. This sander does the job and is really easy to use. My 8 year old grandson can use this sander with supervision. I agree with others about the provided dust collection unit...it does not hold anything and is not efficient. I always use a shop vacuum through a hose system I rigged up. Had to purchase some replacement Velcro pads as the original one got worn out fairly quickly. Not a big deal to replace and not expensive. I like the hard shell case as I have two shops and transport the sander back and forth. I have had this unit for a while now and expect it to work for a long time, but if it gives out tomorrow I would buy another.

A good sander but needs a better description
Ever since my old PC 333 died I have been looking for a decent ROS, but after unsatisfactory experiences with both DeWalt and Milwaukee, I thought I'd try this sander and it's been great. It is noticeably quieter, easy to hold and best of all, the dust collection is outstanding. My only complaint was that I probably read too many reviews about problems people had with dust collection, so I ordered several of the accessories. However, the sander ended up coming with the VAC002 adapter which enables the port on the sander to fit directly onto an 1-1/4" fitting of a standard shop vac hose. I ended up sending back all of the extra fittings and I'm as happy with it as I was my old PC 333. Although one of the photos is shown with the small adapter, you wouldn't know what it is unless you'd see it before and it is not mentioned in the description.

Amazing sander!
Bosch has outdone themselves with this sander. I'm normally a Makita fan, but I decided to take the plunge on this sander after reading the reviews on it. I'm glad I did! Up until now, I've always considered dust collection on sanders to be a complete waste of time unless you have the shop vac hooked up to the sander. I'm going to say that Bosch has now completely changed my mind regarding this idea! That might be because as a Makita guy, I'm use to great performance on a sander with the MOST GOD AWFUL dust collection bags know to man! Anyone who has used a Makita sander will tell you they do a damn fine job, but the collection bag might as well be decoration because it sure as heck isn't collecting the dust! As for this Bosch sander... Well... I will be the first to admit that I rolled my eyes at the whole micro-filtration dust collection before giving this sander its initial spin. I figured it was a waste of time, but what the heck I'd see how it worked. Suffice it to say, I quickly became a believer! What I passed off as a cheesy sales gimmick by Bosch left me absolutely speechless! I used this bad boy to refinish a bar top and I'll be damned if the dust collection was absolutely out-of-this-world! Bosch has got an amazing thing going with that micro-filter! It REALLY did the job! Not only did it drastically cut down on the dust, but the sander did an AMAZING job at refinishing the top! I'm going to say it easily matched my Makita in terms of sanding performance, ran smoother, and did it at about 2/3rd's the price of a similar Makita. This sander is absolute win in my book!

Comfortable Using Hours at a Time
I have used Bosch brand ROS for over 2 decades and they have always been comfortable to use for hours at a time and offer stellar performance and longevity. I have used other brands in the past on the job that other people owned that would leave your hand numb and feeling vibrations long after you stopped using the tool. Bosch gives very little feedback/vibration to the user allowing you to use for many hours at a time - can't say enough about that for the professional or even the DIY homeowner. Well worth every penny, and will last the avg user a lifetime and the professional at least a decade ( I still have one from the early 90's that works well).

Great little sander at a fair price.
After way too much research, I’ve found this to be the best one for me in this price range. Variable speed makes it stand out in this price range. Uses standard 5” hook and loop pads, has built in filtered dust collection, and it comes with an easy non-proprietary 1 1/4” vacuum adapter (which takes it from low dust to no dust). Vibration is average for a sander in this class. Unless you compromise and get one with proprietary sanding pads (like the Rockwell) or move up to a 6” unit with handles, you won’t do any better. Nice thick and heavy electrical cord with strain relief should stand the test of time. Included bag is nice and can hold the unit and a few packs of sanding pads and can be easily repurposed. Beats the useless bulky hard cases other competitors include. All in all, just about the best sander I found in this segment. I’d say it’s a tie with the Ridgid, but you can’t Buy that new on amazon.

This little guy is fantastic
This little guy is fantastic. I have started doing several furniture refinishing projects and needed a good little sander. This thing fit the bill. It is easy to use, comfortable in my hand, and doesn't shake my arm to the point that I feel fatigued after I use it on large items. The dust cup does a decent job of minimizing the dust from sanding as well. I often times do some of my less intense sanding inside my house and this has made that possible without a total mess. There's still some dust in the air but nothing like there would be without the dust cup catching most of it. Very pleased with this purchase.

First day with the new sander
Have to share my experience with this sander I purchased. Have to give respect for Amazon for getting this shipped the same day and allowing me to get started on sanding my deck. Now my deck is for a town house, it is rather small, I believe 8x11 ft. I used paint stripper, and wood brightened and pressure washed it. For a really old deck it looks better than the first day we bought the house and looks brought back to life. However the pressure washer loosened up the wood and there are little splinters everywhere. I thought about paying someone to sand it, they said it would cost about $150. I decided that I would rather just buy the sander and pocket the $50. I researched a lot of other brands and decided that this one was best for the price. I wanted to get this deck sanded for less than $100 and that is exactly what happened. The old splintering deck now feels better than ever. The sander has a comfortable grip and gets the dust and is easy to change worn sandpaper. It uses 5 inch 8 hole Velcro sand paper. I used 60 grit and got the job done. For first day impressions I am very impressed. Please do yourself a favor, trust that this sander will do the job and make this your choice.
