If you compare a small pile of these lentils to "ordinary"/brown lentils, you will immediately see a difference. For starters these are about half the size of the brown lentils, more rounded than flat. I've found that both lentils cook well without pre-soaking, but the LePuy variety stays more firm through the cooking. (I made lentil stew yesterday and only had 1 cup left of the LePuy so used them and another 1/2 cup of brown lentils. The LePuy, when done, have more "tooth" than the brown lentils.) If I want the lentils to disintegrate and then be blended for a smooth soup, I'd use the brown ones. If I want to enjoy seeing and feeling the entire lentil, usually my preference, the LePuy are what I'll use. In my opinion, the LePuy lentils are more flavorful. I was using my slow cooker and tasting occasionally, and the flavor was strong enough to carry more savory additions like chopped kale, fresh spinach and cooked wild rice. I had these in my subscribe & save section as one box every 2 months. After working with the lentil stew yesterday, I switched to 1 box/month.

i always liked the flavors of lentil soup, but hated the mushy lentil texture...so when i discovered green lentils i was eager to purchase. i was not disappointed...the flavor and slightly chewy texture of these lentils is wonderful and very satisfying! even after cooling in the refrigerator, the lentils were still in their lovely broth and hadn't gotten mushy. totally sold on green lentils!

I used them to make Ina Garten's French Green Lentil soup. I had no idea what the difference was between lentils. Now I do. It's a kind of "tactile for your mouth" thing. These lentils don't fall apart. They are soft enough to chew easily but still remain solid enough to give you a sense that this soup is more interesting than a "mushy" lentil. You can swallow them whole but it adds a little fun to the soup that you can chew them if you want. They tasted wonderful and made my soup special.

These authentic LePuy lentils taste so much better, and retain their firmness better, than grocery store green or brown lentils. I am addicted, and use they in the Carraba's (copycat) sausage and lentil stew in the Instant Pot. Even leftovers are heaven! I make this at least once a week.

Food writer David Lebovitz remarked that these are the best lentils. I wanted to make the lentil salad in his book My Paris Kitchen (also available on Amazon.com). The salad was delicious. Now, I'm eager to find other lentil recipes. Amazon.com makes it possible for me to experience and enjoy other world cuisines in my American kitchen. I love that!

I was in France recently and I read French lentils are something special. I didn't have space for them in my bag, so I tried Amazon. Once again, Amazon has everything. I got the lentils and the soup we made from them was terrific. I will definitely order these again. A definite hit with my family.

I love these Lentils! I used to buy puy lentils in bulk at the Berkeley Bowl but since moving to southern Vermont I haven't had access to a good bulk section. It's wonderful to see so many of my favorites delivered for free to my country doorstep. Thank God for amazon! These are peppery and dense. I followed the directions & now I have a week of delicious protein from this one box. Legumes are amazing because they're versatile & inexpensive, easy to prep & soooo good for you!!! I also love beluga lentils which I just ordered off here also.

Great product. I could not find Puy Lentils in any store. They are so cute. Little dark green peas. And they make wonderful lentil stew when cooked with homemade chicken stock or with a boneless pork shoulder in the crock pot. Actually that's a recipe for black beans and pork shoulder, but Puy Lentils work too. They just don't take as long to cook as black beans.

I'm a vegetarian and eat a lot of lentils, beans, etc. These lentils are tasty. I make a fair amount of soup but also frequently cook the lentil plain and mix them into homemade lentil burgers with other ingredients. They are healthier than processed. I not only use better ingredients but also control what goes into the burgers. The lentils when cooked properly keep their shape. You can also add a variety of flavours, spices and mixes, to change the flavour. I originally purchased these because the price was reasonable. I continue to purchase them through subscribe and save because of the flavour and price. I have used this product for nine+ months. I would recommend these lentils and have in fact shared them with family and friends so they can taste before they purchase.

These tiny lentils are excellent for dishes like lentil salad where you want each lentil to be its own gastronomic experience, because they don't fall apart and they retain some bite even when they are done. Maybe not so good for lentil soup.
