Not Sure At First, But Raving About These Now (Lifetime Crocheter)
I have been crocheting since I was five years old. I have been privileged to have some of the nicest, smoothest, beautiful crochet hooks from my grandmother, as well as back when I was young and purchased my own set. Along the way, they have been stuck in various cases, lost, or borrowed and not returned. I had a few left, but when I lost my small steel hook that I was using to help me knit socks, I was very frustrated. The prices of these things are ridiculous now and the quality is not nearly as good. I looked and looked for a nice steel hook to replace the one I lost, and I just could not find one anywhere. I looked at every case and set I could find at a variety of places in person. I was either not impressed with the quality, there were not very good sizes, or the price was ridiculous. When I saw this set, I was not sure WHAT to think I saw some of the reviews of people who were very upset and I thought I should not bother. Then I saw some of the reviews of people who loved them and I thought it was too good to be true. I finally decided to take the plunge. BOY am I GLAD I did. That was one of the best decisions I have made in a while. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS SET -Case is sufficient and durable to store all hooks and hold up with careful use -Case is handy- I don't lost my hooks anymore! -Hook Quality is as good or better than ANYTHING I saw in the stores -Larger hooks are color coded -Has every hook I think I could want -Price is AMAZING for this set -IT COMES WITH A FANTASTIC CASE THAT IS EASY TO USE AND CONVENIENT!!! -Case odor was not offensive but faded within a week or so as it aired out (I am sensitive to odors) WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THIS SET -Hooks are labeled with mm only, but I used perm marker to label them with US sizing -Clear compartments are only heat pressed into the lining, could come loose with rough handling THE BOTTOM LINE I have looked everywhere for good crochet hooks and a way to keep them all in one place so I don't keep losing them. No other cases have helped me, as they just didn't work out well. This by far the best collection of hooks I have ever had all in one very compact, convenient case that is easy to use and store. I can not rave enough about this set. The price was WAY lower than any other set I came across. The quality is as good or better than what sells for a lot more. The price of one or two hooks of the sizes I wanted is about the same as what I paid for this entire set PLUS CASE! I did what another reviewer suggested and printed out a tiny chart of conversion to insert into my case behind the hook heads. If I have any questions, it is right there (in addition to marking each hook with a sharp permanent marker). If there were ten stars, I would give this that!

Very pleased.
Very pleased with the product. You simply cannot find these for such a low price in any store. I primarily bought them for the bigger hooks (the colored ones) to crochet with thicker yarn. I'm a beginner, so I'm probably not quite there to use the really small hooks (the plain metal ones), yet. In stores likes Joann's and Michael's, one hook alone will cost you what this entire package costs. The Case: There are lots of reviews complaining about the case. Let me tell you, the case is very durable and seems to be pretty good quality. Probably China made, but honestly, do you need something to stand up to hurricane winds? It's great quality, thin, and very convenient. The plastic ribbon that holds the hooks is cheap, but comm'on.... what can you expect. It's nothing that a dot of super glue will not solve. I personally do not care one bit that section MAY come off --- mine hasn't, by the way. It's easy to fix...and as long as the case holds the hooks inside, who cares? (By the way, the case zips up with a strong zipper...so, nothing will fall out). The Hooks: Each one has both of the standard measurements clearly written on the handle. They are easy to hold and I have no complaints. Like I said before, the price is a steal.

Great quality for the price
I purchased these for my boyfriend's mother who does crochet in her spare time. I researched multiple sets of crochets before settling on this particular one and it's mainly a combination of quantity and price -- the quality of these hooks are a bonus. I love that there are so many hooks for my boyfriend's mother to choose from and it's all conveniently located inside of one pouch. The pouch is quite dandy and also small so it fits inside of a small drawer very easily. The quality of these hooks are great for the price that you're paying. They're sturdy and they hold up to a long day's worth of crocheting.

Awesome Value!
I just started crocheting and was quickly overwhelmed by the different hook sizes. I'd go buy a hook and then the next pattern would call for a different one. I found this kit but was on the fence about ordering a "generic" brand. I'm glad I caved and ordered it. It's an awesome set at a great price. I really love having the little case, too. Some reviewers mentioned sharp edges. I honestly have not noticed this on any of my hooks. If I ever notice anything like this while crocheting I will update the review, but all of the ones in my set look pretty smooth and comparable to the "brand name" hooks I have. Some reviewers also mentioned the plastic separators inside the case ripping. I can definitely see how the plastic would/could tear. So far they are holding up, and I even gave them a little tug just for the sake of this review and they still held. However, I expect that one day I will go to grab a hook and will rip the plastic, haha. Not a major issue in my opinion. I did just notice as I was taking photos for this review, that the inner lining is somewhat torn where the two sides of the case are connected (looks like the end of the plastic where they sewed was jagged). Doesn't seem very major but I thought I'd point it out. Overall I'm highly satisfied with this set and would definitely recommend it.

Good Beginner/Backup/Budget set
I received a set of these as a gift and just purchased myself a second set. For $6 you just can't do better. They aren't great looking, don't have US sizes (but I don't use US sizes anyway) and they aren't very smooth - yarn seems to stick to the hook, especially after I've touched the tip of the hook. Cleaning them well first by wiping with a cotton cloth seems to improve them until I touch the tip again. Have not used the steel hooks much but they seem to work fine too. In the set I just ordered the 2mm aluminum hook was slightly bent at the bottom but bent easily back into shape and is perfectly usable - if an aluminum hook that size can be considered usable. The case is cheaply made but it does its job and I've replaced many of the hooks in my original case with Boye hooks which are a little smoother. This is a great set for a beginner as the stickiness of the hooks won't be a problem unless crocheting quickly. They are also good as a backup set or as a primary set if you usually only use a few sizes of hooks - just replace the most commonly used sizes with Bates or Boye hooks - or whatever your preference.

Although I already had a nice set of crochet hooks
Although I already had a nice set of crochet hooks, I've lost a few over the years Plus I never had as wide of this size range so it was definitely worth the $2 for these. Some are a little rough but a file quickly takes care of that. The case is definitely cheaply made but if you're gentle it should last. I'm thrilled with it! I noticed the smaller thread hooks getting a little rusted on the part where you hold (humid house) so after cleaning them up I placed a small silica gel pack inside the case and haven't had that issue again

Great beginner set
My 10 year old daughter just took up crocheting with a group that gathers at my local library. Currently she is only using one hook and one size yarn but I know once she masters this basic single stich crochet she will want to venture towards other products. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the tools for this new hobby because I don't know how long her interest will last. This set of crochet hooks was really inexpensive so I decided to try them out. They come in an adorable leather purple pouch that zips on closed. I have to admit I am really unfamiliar with crocheting but most of the hooks look like they are in decent quality. All of the colored hooks are beautiful with soft rounded hooks contrary to the silver ones that have sharp edge that seems to go more straight down than hooked. I wouldn't want to use the silver ones on fine yarns that would be prone to separate or possibly get caught. Still, completely worth the couple bucks.

Just Like Boyle
I was looking for some cheap crochet hooks, and this one seemed to fit the bill. I was a little worried, as some of the reviews were a little disappointing, but I love these needles. There are no defects that I can see, and they have a nice weight to them without being heavy. I have a set of Boyle (only 5 pieces) and I honestly can't tell the difference when using them. I have two small issues, so small I don't think they warrant a missing star. First, they only have the mm size, not the American standard, arbitrary number system, which can make it annoying to use with some patterns (although my gauge is usually off theirs). The other thing is the case smells like cheap plastic if it gets warm (such as when I left it in my car). The case is really nice, a beautiful purple, with room for a few more needles. Bottom line: I absolutely adore this set

OUTSTANDING!
Love these little crochet hooks. It said that the right half were for knitting, but they are also hooks, not knitting needles. However, they are fantastic for many different projects. I am practicing with the colorful ones for now, but look forward to crocheting lace with the tiny silver ones in the future. Everyone who sees this set is impressed with how well it was out together. The popping colrs, the leather purplecase it came in. It is unbelievable that it was merely $6.xx. I would have paid $15. I look forward to ordering the same "Lisa Frank" set as my daughter calls it for her 8th birthday. Simply an outstanding product, though the decription on site saying it's knitting is disconcerting.

Great set!
I bought this set of hooks over two years ago and have been using them ever since. I was a beginner crocheter and taught myself along the way. I needed a basic set of hooks to get me going and these were perfect. Even now, two years later, they're in perfectly great shape and I still use them almost daily. Are there fancier hooks out there? Yes, absolutely, and I even have some. This set, however, is great for a beginner. Even during long stretches of crocheting (like when I'm watching a movie or waiting for my daughter during her violin lessons), my hands don't get really tired. These are the same basic hooks you'd find at JoAnn's or similar. The case itself retails for $12 something in stores, so it's a great deal, trust me.
