bought this on Amazon warehouse deals for a steal! i was interested because it came with everything i needed in the kit. i was a little hesitant because it is only rated at 4500# and i planned on using it for my car trailer but i couldn't pass on the deal. after installing it in a modified old breaker box. (which is perfect for hiding everything out of the weather)i very easily wired it up on the trailer with a car battery. i tested it out right away with pulling a car on the trailer and it did not struggle at all!! im very pleased, this works perfectly for a car trailer. i also purchased the champion snatch block which will really improve the pulling on the trailer. the wireless remote is definitely a life saver and can also use the handlebar switch as a backup. everything in this kit is well made, thank you!!

I made a custom hoist for the back of a ride on mower and this was the perfect accessory. I'm a retired tow truck driver and I used a winch on a daily basis for 15 years. This little guy is a bit noisy and slow(ish) but thats from a guy use to hydraulic professional winches. I have had almost 900lbs on it and it doesn't mind but the mower did. I have pulled fence posts both metal and 4" round wood out of the ground with it. BTW the instructions say do not use as hoist. Its now a year old and this review is really late... But the good news is it been out in the northern Nevada desert weather (snow, blowing sand, 110-F summers, fluke thunder storms) 24/7 worked nearly every day and going strong. Its weathered but no sign of rust or corrosion. If it "broke" right now this review would stand since it has more than served than expeced for the price. The most handy thing to have around didn't realize how much I use it but its almost daily. I made a scraper blade and the winch handles the up and down for that and a 5' rake attachment. I made a dump trailer out of a 55 gallon drum and I use the winch to lift the trailer to dump it. It Even on the mowers battery I can use it for 5 minutes (respooling the cable under 500lbs load) and still start the mower. I got 2 more, 1 is going on a jib hoist mounted to a trailer and the other is going on the front of the mower.

I bought the Champion 4500-lb winch kit for my 2017 Honda Pioneer 1000-5. I needed to buy "KFI Products 101285 Winch Mount for Honda Pioneer 1000" in order to mount this winch to my UTV. After watching several videos on YouTube, I was able to install the winch without any problems. Fortunately, the instructions provided in the mounting kit from KFI were much better than the instructions provided in the Champion winch kit, and installation was fairly straightforward. Dealing with all the wire when making the electrical connections was a little challenging, but after cutting off a lot of excess and using a fist full of tie wraps, it all looks pretty good. Other than testing the system, I have not had to use the winch to get me out of a tough spot yet, but based on it's performance so far, I'm happy with this purchase. Highly recommend.

Installed the Champion 12003 2,000 pound ATV winch inside a Ford Transit Connect van in the space normally occupied by the twin middle row passenger seats. A local sheet metal fabricator created a sturdy but inexpensive custom bracket for the winch that's held in place by the recycled seat bolts. The application is a little unusual, and likely not something Champion envisioned for its product. The winch operates off a 12V marine battery to hoist a 350 pound, vintage Hammond organ (on dollies) up a metal wheelchair ramp and into the back of the van. It's not going to win any races, but it makes the job almost effortless. The winch remains cool, handling the load without breaking a sweat. And it's taken what would otherwise be a difficult two person (or more) job and turned it into a task that can be safely done with just one finger. Couldn't be happier. And either could the guys who no longer have to wrestle with this beast.

I purchased this winch to install onto my 2004 Honda Foreman 450fe. I chose to purchase a separate mounting plate trhough Amazon thats made specifically for my Honda ATV instead of using the provided generic plate. The Winch and the Fairlead fit the plate perfectly and then I still had room to mount the whole assembly into place after turning the ATV wheels to the right. It was a tight fit but it went into the frame just fine. The winch works great, looks great, and was really easy to wire up. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality winch.

This is a good product - and tech support is outstanding! I ordered the winch to install on a ham radio tower to raise and lower tower so I didn't have to climb tower to work on antennas. Works as it should. Most outstanding. When I tested it on bench the remote wouldn't work. Called tech support, on hold for 8 minutes and got a very nice knowledgeable man named Chris who seemed to be based in USA and spoke perfect English. Turns out I needed to "reboot" and "reprogram" the remote. He talked me thru the process, now remote works just fine. I said I was going to write the procedure up to keep. Chris says we've got a PDF file on how to do it, but it's not online. He emailed a copy to me. Now I've got PDF of manual and reprogramming. Their tech support is worth the extra cost. The winch is made in China, but this 4500 winch came with SAE bolts, not metric!

I bought this Champion winch instead of better established winch brands based on online reviews I have read and my own personal experience of Champion products such as 5K generators in the past. The price was attractive enough for me to just give it a shot. The product didn't disappoint me from the first time I opened the package. The installation using KFT plate(101215) was a piece of cake on Honda Pioneer 500. I like the big buttons at least for this UTV. All the cables were clearly labeled. Included hardware was all high quality. The only part where I thought was subpart was the protective sleeve for the actual rope. It was not sewn well and started pulling apart but this doesn't really affect the functionality so I could care less. Also, the included wires were short but I do understand it would've worked fine on most ATVs but not for UTVs. Most UTV installation would rely on also a solenoid as such extra cables are expected. Since it was only about a foot short, I emailed Champion and they got back to me in 10 hours with a couple of solutions. I just appreciate when a customer cares to listen to their customers. The product may not be perfect but as long as they are working with their customers and I am loyal. Of course in this case, the product is pretty good. Thanks.

Bought this to mount to the front of a utility trailer to pull my 850 lb motorcycle up. It does so without breaking a sweat or slowing down which it should since the load is probably no more than 300 lbs. The mounting plate is a bit annoying and not well thought-out. I mounted it to a 4x4 beam at the front of the trailer, However, when you mount the winch to the mounting plate it will rest on top of the mounting bolts. You may therefore need spacers, like a stack of washers, to put between the plate and the winch when tightening down the winch bolts. The way I mounted my plate on a 4x4 beam I had to get another bolt for the front of the winch mount so it would reach all the way through the 4x4.

My wife was recently in a car accident and just bringing her home (RV) from Trauma ICU. I was concerned we might have to find a place to stay temporarily due to needing to get her up into the RV and back down for appointments. I used a very long ramp from my box truck as , well the ramp. Prior to her arrival I tried a hand crank winch and a come along, neither giving the results I wanted. So I decided to try this winch and it worked perfectly. Not only faster and easier but also only very slight more in cost, which is easily outweighed by the convenience. The winch is mounted to a 2 x 8 x 5 foot long piece of lumber. That lays on my couch and allows me to use the two seatbelts to strap the piece of lumber. Works great. I have only two complaints. It needs a better free spool brake. When you release the drive for free spool, pinch the exposes sides of the spool to add resistance, otherwise the cable is going to bird nest. This happened twice and you will have to let the cable all the way out and then reel back in with tension held on the line to get the winding back tight. The other issue is the remote buttons. The are a little to hard to press.

This winch is really nice. There is plenty of length to the wires. Very easy to connect up. The directions were very easy to view and very understandable. I am not an electrical professional...ALL of the wires and connections are color coded and can fit together ONLY in the correct connection. I only needed to tap into 10amp circuit, one wire--which my son-in-law located for me. The winch works great! It is custom mounted to front end of my tractor. I pulled the tractor up a very steep embankment, no problem. My primary usage is dragging logs up a slope. You can use the hand-held switch and use your other hand to guide the log up the slope to tractor. Very nice! I also used winch with pulley connectors to lift plywood panels to top of fire place. Winch is incredible force multiplier and makes moving items very easy. I highly recommend this winch because of ease and simplicity of hookup. Other cheaper devices have crummy instructions and way too short wiring
