• BUILD AND TRANSFORM A ROBOT - The 14-in-1 Educational Solar Robot kit allows your future engineer to build a robot and transform it to 14 different robot modes, with unique movements and designs. The robot can be changed from a running beetle, to a rowing boat, to a walking crab, or even to a zombie-chaser.
  • CHALLENGE AND EDUCATE - Curious learners will be challenged with building and interacting with the 14 different robot designs and functions. Boys and girls will learn about solar energy and robotics from the comfort of their home or classroom- while having tons of fun. This kit includes educational instructions and two levels of complexity for the robot builds.
  • POWERED BY THE SUN - With alternative energy playing such a pivotal role, there is no better time than now to start children on the path to learning basic concepts behind robotics and renewable energy resources. Fortunately, this product is powered by the sun, so there are no batteries required. The robot moves in the direct sunlight and allows kids to create and use their infinite imagination.
  • WORKS ON LAND OR IN WATER - The robot has modes that work in both the land or in water. Some modes will walk or crawl and others will float or swim. Explore mechanics and science on your tabletop, floor, pool or bathtub. Switch up your environment keeps this toy interesting for your child or student.
  • S.T.E.M. LEARNING - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics; rather than teach the four methods as separate and individual subjects, STEM consolidates them into an interconnected learning standard based on real-world applications. Each Build-Your-Own Robot Kit is a working model that demonstrates STEM concepts for ages 10 and up.

We gave this to our 11-year old for Christmas. It was hard to find at the time but well worth the search! Our son's face lit up like the Christmas tree when he saw this and he got to work as soon as we were done with gifts. I LOVE the packages it comes with. Made separating and organizing the kit a breeze. I wish every company thought of such things. My husband did have to help him get some of the pieces separated and they are engineered a bit rough, as other reviewers had mentioned. Thankfully, Daddy knows enough about these things to help him and got them to do what he needed to do, but unknowledgeable Mommys like myself might have trouble. The robots do work with a flashlight aimed directly at the panel so they can be played with inside. Just make sure you have a nice, bright flashlight. Well worth the money for the educational and fun value!

If your kid is into building or robotics this is the item for you! It has multiple configuration and was fairly easy to set up with help from a adult. Its not huge, but doesn't need to be. Each configuration has its own difficulties, which was great part of the building progress for child and parent. It would be my recommendation that the child be of seven or older. Can't remeber exactly the age limit on the box. I would definitely buy this item again!! It was a great project for father and son!

My Grandson of 11 loved this product. It does require a bit of patience and a careful hand to separate the numerous pieces from their mold frames. Adhesive tags were supplied along with small plastic bags for sorting and identifying the construction piece groupings. No adhesive or tools are actually required for assembly or disassembly. Although a good pair of small diagonal cutters and a needle nose plyers are a great help. He made two designs which worked great. Remember these are solar powered with no reserve energy, so they require direct sunlight to function. He disassembled his first robot and went right into a second design. The product demanded tremendous attention to detail and hand motor skills. This is a wonderful teaching and learning experience. The price offered here was 10 dollars less than retail and using PRIME there was no shipping cost. It was SUPER deal.

Great product. Super fun to play with. Clearly built by a genius, as it comes with baggies to store parts. Not just that, but there are stickers for labeling the parts. And not just that, but all the parts are organized so that no two parts in each baggy are similar at all. It's a small thing, but SUPER HELPFUL. Looking forward to adding some Arduino fun to this little toy.

It took several hours for a 3rd grad to put the solar car together with some help. The car can self-drive under sun or a 60W lamp. 14 different designs can be built up, including a boat. The car is small but functions! The boy loves it.

I had to assist my 10 year son w/the gear assembly but after that he couldn't stop building the different robots. First he had to complete each robot then he took it upon himself to create original robots. Great concept, I hope OWI comes out with additional kits. Most important, I ordered on Amazon.com but this product is sold by a different company - Find Cool Toys. When I received the shipment it was a different model (7 in 1 Kit) I called Find Cool Toys and they apologized for the error and told me I could keep the kit for free and they sent me the larger kit later that week.

Small. Simple. Time consuming. Fun project. There are a lot of small pieces that take a lot of time to seperate. Cutting off plastic spurs left behind from seperation is important for the robos to run properly. Worth the time to do it. After cutting away what I could, I used a small sponge sanding block to smooth the area out. My 9 y/o son did most of the work and built the first few bots himeself. A little guidance goes a long ways. Start with the simpler bots first. Work your way up into the more difficult builds. Kit comes w/several sealable baggies to keep the parts seperate for storage and safe keeping. Great kit for beginner and intermediate builders. I recommend this kit for beginner robo and engineer enthusiasts.

Bought this for my grandson. It's hard to find educational toys that are also a lot of fun, but this one gets it done. He really enjoys being able to take it apart and rebuild it into a different configuration.

Great toy/learning experiment, especially for price. FYI you need to assemble like a model you have to trim and sand the parts. Its not just pop out and play or it wont work pieces will hang up on burs. We used Xacto knife to cut out, dremel tool, sandpaper, and files to finish them. We built 3 projects with a little tweaking they work.

The 8-year-old boy who received this as a gift said, "I've been dreaming about a robot like this!" He then promptly sat down and joyfully worked on all the tiny gearbox pieces other reviewers didn't like. However, for him, that was part of the fun! So don't worry about the many small pieces. It's just more fun for the right kid who likes that sort of thing.
