I purchased these to replace my Altec Lansing Speakers that I had which had a subwoofer. These BOSE speakers sound just as good and take up a lot less space. I have read other buyers reviews stating the BASS isn't very good with being a BOSE brand. I thought that as well when I initially plugged them into my PC. It turned out that I had a REALTEK sound card - which had very little customization options. After several attempts to uninstall the REALTEK drivers (pain in the butt), I was finally able to use Dolby Atmos which made the sound quality so much better. I verified this by plugging the speakers into my Samsung Galaxy 9+ 3.5mm jack. The sound was much better still. I would highly recommend these for any BOSE lovers out there!

I had been using an old pair of computer speakers that were making funny noises (low whine when turned on), and had been eying these Bose speakers as a replacement for some time. I finally decided to order them after someone sent me an Amazon gift card for Christmas. They are AWESOME. When I plugged them into the wall and into my computer, I didn't even realize that they were turned on. They were completely silent at 50% volume. I was completely surprised when I started up a game and BOOM, they came to life with a roar. The sound quality is crystal clear. These are easily the best speakers in my house now, much to the chagrin of my wife, who does not always share my taste in music. I am also super impressed that they are completely silent when they are turned on -- even at max volume there is no telltale speaker hiss to be heard. I am very satisfied with these, and I would definitely spend the $100 on these again.

It does not come with a light that indicates it is powered, but that's OK. And since it has excellent signal-to-noise ratio you really have to stick your ear up against it to hear hiss; there's no hum. For those who complain that it does not sound any better than your cheap speakers and this is why. Do not adjust the volume from your computer. Adjust it at the knob. The knob not only adjusts the volume it also adjusts the loudness. Meaning, there is bass, midrange, and treble equalization. When the knob is set low there is more emphasis on base and treble, or the midrange is depressed. When the knob is all the way up the equalization is flat, or no equalization. I have my computer set to max.

I just installed these speakers on my HDTV, and they are outstanding. I have them in a 400 square foot room. The sound is outstanding! I am so impressed with them that I had to write my first ever review. They installed just like they would on my computer--very, very easily. I can't believe how amazing they are especially since they were not terribly expensive.

These speakers are bit on the expensive side, specially when you compare with other computer speakers that you can buy for $100 but they deliver on my expectations. I work in IT and apart from regular stuff like listening music, I do lot of vlogs and video conferencing on my desktop and this is where these speakers really shine. They make your music sound good and they make simple sound (in my case person speaking on a speakerphone with lot of ambient noise) audible. These might not be good speakers if you are looking for a window shaking bass or ear piercing treble but if you are looking for a set of minimalist speakers which do most of the things right, then this is for you. This is my first BOSE and I must say that they do justice to the brand name they carry. Before these speakers I had $ 9 logitech and an 2.1 and both were completely useless for tele/video conferencing. I will not talk about the 9 $ speaker as I am comparing with something which is more than 10 times expensive but the issue I had with my 2.1 was that it used to make the normal voice very muddy. I did disable the sub woofer but then the treble even at minimum from the two speakers was very irritating and this is where I find significant difference in voice quality from BOSE speakers. You may not realise if you directly go and listen these speakers and might find a cheap 2.1 system better if you just listen to high bass hip hop. But for varied acoustic, these speakers are a very good starting point. One more thing, it has 3.5 mm headphone jack. I have a battery operated noise cancelling headphone and when I use it with these speakers, the sound is significantly louder then when inserted directly to my desktop/laptop. This is an added benefit.

First I ordered these speakers a couple weeks ago and I was not really impressed. They didn't sound any better than the old generic logitech speakers I had on my pc before. Actually those speakers had some bass while these had none at all. They kept buzzing if I lightly tapped my table. l unplugged the cables and re-plugged them in to make sure they were tightly connected but nothing would work. I already trashed my old speakers so I was reluctant to send them back. Finally I decided to send them in for a replacement. At first I was leaning towards getting a full refund. After thinking about for awhile I decided to give Bose one more chance. The UPS guy picked up my return package and maybe two hours later the replacement came. I can only say that Amazon is awesome when it comes to exchanging your product if it has an issue. Now onto the speakers after being replaced.... I realized after plugging them in and playing one song that the previous speakers were defective. I can even tell these have some bass to them. They sound a lot better than the ones I sent back. I have never had pc speakers that sound this good before. I may even buy a Bluetooth adapter so I can use these with my Apple Tv.

Booming! I am enjoying the speakers. I don't like to write reviews but I appreciate them when others provide them. I live in a small condo, so I need speakers that are small and carry crisp clear sound. These speakers are great for what I need and like to enjoy.

I feel like I'm listening to music for the first time. The range of sound I'm hearing out of these is almost overwhelming, like nothing I've experienced outside of a concert or some kind of surround sound experience. Granted, they are pretty hefty speakers for what I'm using them for - just desktop peripherals for my PC, inches from me, but wow, it really feels like the sound is coming from more than just the two points in front of me. I don't usually spend a lot of money on these kinds of things, but I'm glad I went a little bit out of my usual price range this time. At the time I got these, the 4-year insurance plan was only $2, and with the name brand like Bose, I really have no fears at all about longevity, and in the moment I'm loving how they sound and look. The chunky, but at the same time kind of toned down minimalist style of these is just great in my opinion. Very much recommend the speakers if you feel like or can afford to spend the money on them.

Considering the small size, and the fact that there is no separate subwoofer, the sound coming from these speakers is very impressive. They blow away others I have from a different brand, that do have a separate subwoofer. My other speakers sound muddy compared to the richness and clarity of these Bose speakers. I never expected to experience so much bass from these little speakers. Understandably, they don't have the same intense bass as a Bose surround system, but then that isn't a fair comparison. These speakers aren't inexpensive, but when you consider the quality and amazing sound, I think the price is reasonable. In this case, you really do get what you pay for.

We bought these speakers for a turntable my wife uses to listen to her preferred music - from our collection of old vinyl - while working at her desk at home. The turntable has terribly tinny speakers (as expected) and while my wife was OK with the sound quality I couldn't stand listening to anything she played. These little Bose Companion 2 speakers made a huge difference. They aren't meant to fill a room with audiophile quality sound, but for a small space they work just fine. The range is sufficient for casual listening if you're not looking for deep, window shaking base, and there is no discernible distortion at high volume. I've also connected them to my laptop as a check and they certainly improve the sound quality over the laptop's speakers (no surprise there). The bottom line is they're so far superior to the sound from the turntable's speakers that they're definitely worth the price, and would be a great pairing with a laptop for serious listening and gaming.
