Outstanding quality! Perfect for my tall 2 year old!

This table and two-chairs set from Melissa and Doug is GREAT! It is solid, exactly what I was hoping for and expect from M&D products. I purchased this for my tall just-turned-two-years-old son. It fits him perfectly- his toes touch the floor (without shoes) and is feet rest on the floor with shoes. Assembly-- This set was easy to assemble! I used a philips-head screw driver. There are two sets of screws-- that's it on the small-parts end! Each piece of the chairs and table are labeled clearly with "A", "B", etc. For the table, it was just four legs to add. The chairs, a few more wooden parts, but not a lot. I'm one week short of giving birth and was able to put this together in about 20 minutes (only because I was taking my time). Most folks could do this in 10 minutes, even less. And the best part? The holes the screws were going into on the "end" side had pre-drilled-and-placed metal threaded holes-- truly a sign that this furniture will LAST. The wood is sturdy, feels solid, and did not rock after assembled. I had noticed that others said their older kids still sat at this table and wondered how that worked, well now I understand-- its very sturdy, as are the chairs (that is always a hard combo to find!), so I could see older kids siting at this table, too. If you look at the stock pictures, you'll notice that the back of the chair arches slightly- this seemed to fit my son perfectly, a very comfortable chair. I could see it also fitting older kids' backs, too. The metal screws are visible, but they are high-quality and there is a bit of an indent doweled in for them, so while they're visible, they don't poke out at all. Excellent quality!

Clean & perfect finish.

Beautiful & durable table/chair set, appropriate for an educational or home setting. Paint finish is very smooth and easy to clean/maintain. My husband advised that it took him just a few minutes to assemble. We’re planing to buy a few more sets soon. ‘Melissa & Doug’ educational materials have not disappointed me in my 20+ years of professional experience as a Preschool Educator/Art Teacher/Behaviorist and I’m happy to say that their furniture stands up to their ‘best wood puzzle’ reputation. Functional & clean.

So far I'm in love with this little table.

I just got this table today and so far I absolutely love it. It feels nice and sturdy and the wood looks like pretty nice quality. It was an absolute dream to assemble. It didn't take more than 15 minutes to put together, and that was with my almost 3 yr old and 1 1/2 yr old helping. The directions were awesome. As a once top ramen poor, putting herself through college kid, I've had my fair share of cheap furniture and this definitely does NOT fall into that category. One of my favorite parts of this table is the metal re-enforcments inside the pre-drilled holes. It makes it seem like this table can be disassembled and reassembled again without out loosing much of its integrity. Of course if you use wood glue for the doul sections then that might not be the case but that's your decision. I hope to update my review after a few months to give a status update on how well it's holding up in a house with two very very active toddlers. I hope the pictures help.

good stuff

I purchased this produce after considering the cost of designing and building something similar from scratch. I concluded that buying this would be a better use of my time and money. I will be giving it to our two-year-old grandson. I just assembled it. I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship. The instructions were very clear. It was a breeze to assemble and sturdy when finished. There was one bolt that was slightly misaligned so that the head would not go fully into the countersunk hole. It still tightened up.To satisfy my own psychological needs I glued the joints but I am confident that it would hold up very well without the glue. The description doesn't describe the type of finish so I think I will coat the table top with some polyurethane to assure durability. It only took about 30 minutes to assemble and clean up the packaging. Good product. Follow up - I put the poly urethane on the top of the table, the seats of the chairs, and the person back of the chair where the kid will lean without any problem (brushed on). I put the second coat on the same places from an aerosol can (same product, etc). The second coat was fine but I had some left-over spray so I coated the back of the chairs, legs of the table, etc. In a few places this lifted the factory finish leaving a whitish color in a few places. Perhaps they use a lighter coat of finish on the non-contact parts of the pieces. I am still happy that I used the poly-urethane because it will provide a tougher finish but I thought some folks might want to be aware of this outcome.

Absolutely love this table! Very sturdy, and looks adorable in my sons playroom! It’s the perfect size too, not too small but not too big, our almost 2 year old looks a little small on it but he will have so many years to grow into it this way! Took us less than an hour to put it together and the instructions were super easy and only two different screws to have to work with! So fast and easy! 🙌🏼❤️

Very good quality!

I love this set! The quality is all there, with the 4 bracings on the legs, that is why I really ended up going with this set. And the sale price almost matched the cheaper brands. My kids are 1 and 2 and we have another on the way, and I have no doubt of this lasting all the years we need it. Assembly was incredibly easy. My kids spend hours of their day sitting here.

Perfect, well-made table & chairs!

My toddler has been using this Melissa and Doug table and chairs now for several years. I am very happy that it is solid wood and sturdy! My toddler asks my husband and I all the time to sit and draw with her! And the chairs hold each of us fine! My toddler will draw on the table and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers make washing this table with just water super easy! I included a picture so you could see what our set looks like after several years of use. It’s definitely a soft wood that dents, but we don’t mind! My husband didn’t have any issues putting the table and chairs together when we arrived too. Originally I wished it was bigger and came with four chairs, but the size has turned out perfect with our limited space! This table is used for tea parties, drawing, and so much more! Highlights: solid wood, sturdy, perfect size for toddler!

Great kids table set!

I bought this table for my 6 year old daughter so that she can read, play and do arts craft on. The table was really easy to assemble - it took me less than 20 minutes. The table came without any nicks and all of the items were accounted for. That’s not always the case when you order made to assemble furniture, so that was an added bonus. The table and chairs feel really sturdy and the quality is higher than I anticipated based on the lower price point. The table hasn’t really got dirty yet so I can’t really to speak to the cleaning aspect, however, I think that eventually it will show marking and various colors given the bright white color and glossy finish. Given that the table is easy to put together, affordable and sturdy I would recommend buying this table for your young ones.
