I bought this for my daughter for christmas, about 3 years ago. Still going strong! I LOVE this dollhouse! Made of real wood, and easy to put together. Ours was missing the door... so I called them. I GOT A LIVE PERSON when I answered the phone. I thought I called someone else by mistake! So I hung up and called again... same lady answered lol. I was blown away! Customer Service out of this world! I love Melissa and Doug products!!!!

Super cute! We got this for our 3 year old daughter’s birthday. It was pretty easy to put together, and I think it’s well made. We also got the Melissa & Doug car, and animals from Hape. Really pleased with the purchase and it was a great value!

Great house, with one minor damage. But overall very pleased.

I got this house for my 2,5 year old son. I spent a lot of time comparing this house to the almost identical Hape house. One thing that I did not like about the Hape house, is the "wasted" space on the bottom. Where this house has a garage, the Hape one has a panel, half the height of the garage door, with some trees on it. The space behind the panel cannot really be used for play, unless you use it is basement - storage! : ) My son like the garage option on this house, and I liked that all the space here is used well. I did like the Hape furniture a bit better, but this furniture does what it is meant to do, and of a good quality. House was easy to put together and took me under an hour with my 2,5 year old and 6mo old "assisting". My only complaint is that one of the parts came damaged, and now we have a hole in the floor on one of the levels. It was not significant enough to return the whole thing over it. My son enjoys playing with it, and once my daughter is old enough, it is a good size for them to play together.

My son received this from Santa Claus after asking for a dream house to accompany the Barbie he also asked for. Well, Santa must've thought it over and met him halfway, getting him a five dollar Barbie doll and this lovely dollhouse. It's so well-made, and it was very easy for me to put together. It took me about an hour and a half and I wasn't exactly operating at full speed and I should also note I am not terribly mechanically inclined. I did use an additional tool kind of like a Leatherman in addition to an Allen wrench that was provided. This dollhouse is nice looking and durable and he is found many uses for it. Sorry to say the Barbie doll has gone by the wayside but he is enjoying using half of it as a parking garage and half as a dollhouse. The furniture that came along with it was nice also and it is cool to see something more substantial grace his bedroom rather than all of the plastic playsets that are so common nowadays. Loved it and will find it hard to let this one go when he outgrows it. I also should mention, that although it is quite spacious, a Barbie doll does not fit the scale. Thankfully.

Perfect 3rd Birthday Gift!

This family house was perfect for our sons 3rd birthday!! With the addition of the garage it made it a perfect house that wasn't overly girly. When I purchased I was prepared, based on the reviews, that it would take a few hours to put together. Not accurate! It only took my husband 45 minutes. Zero regrets on this purchase! In fact the grandparents bought the car to go in the garage and additional family members.

No problem putting this together - easy set up and looks great!

I had this dollhouse in my cart for several weeks before placing the order. The reviews talking about the difficulty in putting it together kept me looking for something better. Once the Christmas budget had been decimated on ipad minis, it became apparent that this would be the perfect dollhouse, because it fit what was left of my budget! I figured if I ordered early I would have time to send parts back that didn't fit right. Anyway, to make a long story short, I received the dollhouse yesterday and started putting it together as soon as my daughter went to bed last night. I kept going along in putting it together, waiting for the part where things got hard or didn't line up, but that never happened! I put this together in roughly 45 minutes (a little less if you take out the time it took me to install a flashlight ap on my phone, so that I could see the nut and make sure that it was lined up straight in the hole). Perhaps they have changed the instructions or addressed a quality control issue? Not sure. All I know is that it was super easy for me to put together. One tip is to have a flashlight handy. You drop these little nuts into the pre-drilled holes and you need to be sure that they are facing the right way so that when the other piece goes on and you put a bolt through, the bolt will fit into the nut properly. A flashlight helps with that - I also used the tool that was included to put through ahead of time and make sure that the nut opening was tilted just right. A couple of times it turned a little while I was putting on the piece that I needed to secure and I just had to use a screwdriver to tip it back up a bit. Anyway, just wanted to add this review because I don't want others to be scared off by the negative reviews regarding putting this together. It was a breeze and I couldn't be happier! My daughter is going to love this! ****edited**** Now that we've had this for a few weeks I do have a couple of small complaints... 1) the elevator has come out once. Luckily it was easy to get back in, but I have had to fix it a couple more times since then because an edge was starting to come out again. 2) the elevator does not stay put. It would be nice if the elevator channels had little notches in it - or something that would catch so that the elevator stays put. My daughter (3) plays with it with the roof off and she came up with her own little system - she put a rubber band around the roof pegs and "hangs" her elevator by that. Doesn't really fix it, but she likes the novelty of the elevator going up on it's own. I have a feeling that the elevator will be gone before too much longer. I think her dad can probably build some stairs and attach them easily enough 3) and this is not necessarily the dollhouses fault, but I think this is a little difficult to play with at floor level. My daughter plays mainly with the higher up levels. When she is sitting she can't really reach the bottom level (kitchen?). When we get the chance I'd like to build a little, low shelf for it so that she can reach that room as well. Otherwise I am still very happy with this purchase!

Perfect Gender Neutral House for a boy and all his cars!!!

I bought this for my son on his 3rd birthday a couple weeks ago. I noticed that he plays regularly with his "house" at daycare with his friends using cars, animals, anything he can play with. I wanted something open-ended (so he could use his imagination) and gender neutral that had some bells and whistles a boy would love. This has a moveable garage and elevator, came with furniture and (slightly creepy) people and he LOVES it. With all of his cars and trains in and around it, it has become a car house and he plays with it in so many ways from the time he wakes up to the time he goes to bed. His dinosaurs have made breakfast in the kitchen, Lightening McQueen has taken a bath after racing Miss Fritter in the mud, his firetruck has rescued people and cars stuck in the garage and he loves the elevator and easy to access rooms on each floor. If you have ever put together something from IKEA, this will be a breeze. I highly recommend this house and if your rough and tumble boy is anything like mine, he will love it, too!

Perfect size for my 2 year old and my 4 ...

Perfect size for my 2 year old and my 4 year old! Easy to put together and looks nice. There really isn't a need to buy other accessories since it comes with so much. Even with everything, my 2 year old got a Hape pet set and Hape outdoor patio/grill set from her aunt which made it really complete.

I am surprised this does not have more 5 star ratings. I bought this for my 3 yr old granddaugher who will be visiting this week- needed to up my game in the toy department. Having no mechanical skills I was a bit daunted by the number of parts and the pages of instructions- I actually had a friend on call just in case. BUT, I did it in about 2 hrs., would have been less time if I didn't have a cocktail going. The instructions were the best written directions I have ever read. Pay attention to the tips and the call outs and you will have 0 problems. The box was a little beat up on delivery but all the pieces were perfect. Very sturdy, colorful and I know my 1 yo grandson will also enjoy it when he gets a little older.. I also bought the car that comes with 4 more figures and the pet set (dog, rabbit, cat with pet houses, food bowls, and food)-- just adorable. I know my gd will flip out when she sees it.

Great dollhouse -- don't be scared of the assembly!

We LOVE this dollhouse. I was a little nervous after reading about the assembly. While it was a little tedious, it is well designed -- you just have to follow the directions and have a bit of patience. It is totally worth it in the end. Another great product by Melissa and Doug!!
