I have used several brands of vacuum bags and this brand, at least for me, performs best. With bags from other manufacturers I've had problems with the machine evacuating the air. Although the machine will eventually succeed, it sometimes takes 2-3 minutes of constant vacuuming to remove the air. I believe this is due to the amount of force that is created when I clamp the bag in the machine. The embossed side of the bag with the air evacuation channels seems to collapse when clamped into the machine making it nearly impossible to evacuate the air from the bag. These bags are 4 mil thick instead of the standard 3 mil thickness and the extra weight seems to prevent the collapse of the evacuation channels. My machine has no problem creating a full vacuum in less 15 seconds when using these bags. Although they are heavier than my previous bags, they are somehow softer and more pliable. I have not had any bags lose their seal in the freezer, pantry, or fridge. These are my go-to bags for future purchases. To those who complain that these bags lose their seal: The bag is not losing its seal...your machine is failing to create a good seal. These bags are 4 mil where most bags are only 3 mil. Therefore these bags are 33% thicker than the standard bag which may require a slightly longer sealing time. You may encounter this problem on lower quality machines that are only designed to handle the lighter weight bags. Blame your machine, not the bag if you're losing your seal.

I have had a food saver for years and years, actually burned up my first one and am on my second. I love it for the convenience of keeping foods fresher longer in my fridge and freezer. Anyway, for Christmas I received a Soux Vide which also uses food saver bags. I was out of the 8" size and didn't want to use 11" bags for smaller items. I have never purchased non Food Saver brand bags before but decided to give these a shot. I am very pleased. They are every bit as good as the name brand bags. The rolls are large and will last a long time. They seal nicely and I have had no issues. They only difference is that the marks on the bags are a bit different from the name brand ones but nothing worth paying tons more for name brand. I will definitely purchase these again.

Don't waste your money buying this product. It will vacuum pack in the beginning and make you think it's like the original Food Saver product but does not hold the seal/vacuum. The vacuum breaks in a few days or less and you end up with air and frost in whatever you have sealed. The name brand product keeps it's seal for a long time, this does not. I read the reviews before buying this and believed that it would work the same. Read my review and you will know that it does not. This is a followup to my previous review. The company's customer service agent contacted me by email and offered a replacement product that was "new and improved". The response to my previous complaint was very quick and impressive so I'd have to say their customer service is great. I received the new product in two days. I tried it in my Food Saver model 1075. I vacuum-packed two separate things a few weeks ago and checked the seal today and they are still as tightly sealed as the day I originally sealed them. The new product seems to be of a thinner construction but works great. Compared to the original Food Saver brand bags, these are far less expensive and seem to do a really good job. So, judging by their quick response to my original complaint and their followup replacement at no cost to me, I say this company and their product deserve a 5 star rating. Thanks Jo!

I like to use my Food Saver vacuum sealer, but the bags are so expensive it kind of takes the "fun" out it. Every time I'd use a bag I kept thinking how much money it was costing me. So I searched for other options and I found these and they're great. They are the exact size I needed. The price is affordable so I don't hesitate to freeze as much as I want. I also purchased these because I wanted to try my hand at sous vide cooking and they are thick enough to do that. The rolls are large so they won't fit in most sealers, but I was able to lay the roll in the compartment to cut the bag. Much easier than using scissors. But even if I did have to use scissors, these bags (and the great price) are well worth purchasing. The bags seems to be of good quality. I had no problem sealing them. Time will tell if they hold their seal, but I don't expect them not to. The width of this bag is also the perfect size for me to freeze portion sizes of pasta sauce, chili, soups, etc. Because it's best to freeze liquids before vacuum sealing them, I discovered that the Glad containers are the perfect size for the 8" wide bags. The containers I use hold 25 oz, 3 1/8 cup. The inside space is 6" across, so after my food is frozen, I simply run warm water over the container enough to release the food, and then slip the frozen chunk into the food storage bag. (Be sure to wipe the top inside of the bag to remove any moisture before sealing.) I also use these containers to store cooked meats such as hamburger that I can thaw and use to quickly make tacos, sloppy joe's and chili. Because the food is frozen in a chunk, the bags don't lay flat like I'd like, but the ease of sealing them is a trade-off I can live with. I've also used smaller sized containers. Another reason I ordered the rolls was so I could size the length myself. The other advantage to using the containers to freeze items is that the bags don't get "greasy" from fat and oils, which makes reusing the bags impossible. The items go in frozen, and if you run water over the bag long enough to release the food you can easily reuse the bag! Just drop the frozen food into a container or bowl to thaw. I will enjoy using these bags for freezing and trying them out for sous vide cooking. I will definitely be ordering these bags again and again.

Like giving away the razor and charging for the blades. Food Saver rapes you for the bags. Twice as many bags for the price and they work fine. Cost of product goes up significantly with Food Saver bags because of outrageous prices. These bags make the use of machine-sensible. No cost savings with Food Saver bags. The machine uses 25% more material than necessary and then they charge you twice the amount that is reasonable for the bag. The machine itself is great except for the wasted design of using more material than necessary.

I use a FoodSaver V2244 low end sealer and these rolls work perfectly with it. At 25¢ a foot it's the best price for 8" rolls I've seen anywhere. It sure beats 50¢ a foot for FoodSaver rolls at Target. The material is slightly thinner than the FoodSaver rolls. The rolls are plain with no markings to guide your cut and no "write on" area. I use a strip of masking tape to "write on" and they stick to the bag even in the freezer.. I've bought other size rolls (6" and 11") from the FoodVacBag company and I really love their good prices, prompt delivery and great products.

We have used FoodVacBags with great success on our Weston 65-0501-W sealer. We actually like the weight of the Weston bags better but we have had no problems at all with FoodVacBags. The bags were very easy to cut to size. After a bit of trial and error our favorate "cut" size is 13" long which allows for a nice seal on either end and a little more capacity than a standard quart zip lock bag would hold. We have found that cutting and sealing one end "assembly line" style was very useful for us. We then stored the "precut" bags in a large gallon zip lock bag. They were then ready for us to quickly use with a minimum of effort later. We have used these bags with steak, chicken, hamburger, salmon and in packaging and freezing 12 quarts of homemade spaghetti sauce. So far we have had no complaints at all with any of the results i.e. no freezer burn. Oh, as an added bonus sharpie marker does a good job at sticking to the plastic which makes labling and rotation of items easy.

This is the 4th or 5th time I've ordered these bags. They are excellent quality and the seal holds well. I have learned if you have any problem with the vacuum sealer sealing these bags, flip them over so the "bumpy" side is up, and they will seal properly. Easy enough to get used to. I seal mostly meats with these bags, and have no problem with freezer burn or the seal giving out, even after six months in the freezer. They cut easily with the machine cutter. I highly recommend.

These bags hold a seal much better than the Foodsaver brand. I took a chance on these since my Foodsaver brand bags kept loosing the seal in the freezer. It is a shame to take the time and effort of the vacuum system to find your food freezer burned. This product has not let me down once in two years.

**UPDATE** I can now honestly raise these to 4.5 stars. PROS: First of all, they are as strong as the rolls I bought at a big box store that cost more. I didn't think they would be because, as you can see from the photos, the circumference of a roll looks smaller than you might expect for 50 feet. However, these are going to last me a whole. My main concern with the bags was whether or not they would be strong enough. I did use one small roll of another brand that I got at a store here and, while it was cheap enough to match the cost of these longer rolls, I noticed that they tore too easily. For some items (like food and other items with hard or sharper edges) I was having to pre-wrap in paper towels or regular plastic wrap. These are at a really good price and I don't have to worry so much about them tearing. After having used both sealer bags and rolls, I find that I prefer the rolls. This saves me money because I'm not having to buy different sized bags for things. I am able to re-use some of the bags I cut but for some things - like wet or messier items - I have to toss for sanitary reasons. Still, these are good for rinsing and drying to re-use in some cases. I can't even find the longer rolls (definitely not 50 feet) at the local stores here. CONS: Because I have trouble visualizing things and I didn't look at a ruler, I didn't realize that these are not very wide across. The product is labeled very clearly as 8 inches across and 50 feet long. Somehow, I only focused on the length! LOL Though these are narrow, it's still possible to fit most things because you make your own length for each bag. I will look for this brand in a wider option next time though. Unlike the Food Saver brand that came as a bonus with my sealer, these rolls are not marked in any way. It's not a big deal, but the markings did help a bit when making cuts. I could lay an item against the bag and see which marking was close to where I wanted to seal off a bag. Overall, if these were wider and had the markings, they would be 5 plus stars. In spite of the lack of markings, I will buy this brand again if I can find them in a wider variety.
