Great unit for a variety of electronics!
This little dash holder is what I was looking for. Originally I'd planned to throw it into my bag to travel with but once I received it I decided it was too heavy and a bit bulky to add to my carry-on. With an opening of about 4.25", it can easily hold my Garmin GPS or my iphone 6s plus (plus my case!). It doesn't interfere with the plug on either unit. And there are three top and two bottom slots to accommodate whatever size phone or GPS you have. The grip is tight so the phone/GPS isn't sliding within the unit at all. I was worried about it hitting my phone where the volume buttons are located but that isn't an issue either. The only issue that I have is that with one of our vehicles, it does slide on the dash. Don't know who designed the dash of my car but it slopes pretty dramatically and therefore the sticky part on the bottom doesn't come into contact with much of the dash. I can't move it too far forward or it won't be sturdy. And the bottom area without the sticky isn't holding when I turn sharply. That said, I like this unit enough to find something that will create some sticky (either a piece of sticky made for phones or the stuff they sell in stores to protect your dishes/pans/glassware. And in our other car, it works exactly as it is supposed to!

Great, impressive unit.
Took Amazon 4 trys to getting the shipping right. I was impressed with the Hippo as soon as I opened the box. Appearance and weight showed quality and good design. I started using it with my S8+. Even when I put the phone in off center never a concern about the phone security. Now I use it for my gps. Large trucker unit. Unit fits and is secure. Very little holder movement as I travel. I do not use the sticky grip as I change trucks often. Not only do I recommend this unit I have several of the other drivers in my company using it.

Better than the vent and suction varieties. Sturdy and good use.
These don't have any suction or adhesion. They stay on the car board because they are heavy. They hold my phones well. Only downside is if you swerve your car or turn around too fast it might slide down. But otherwise well made. Infact I bought this after seeing my friend use it. It's so much better than the ones that need to fixed on vents. The suction ones or the vent ones never work with big phones and damage the car.

Love this GPS holder.
This is a great thing. I put it on the corner of the dash next to the windshield and I can read it without moving my eyes from the road. Much better than a suction cup holder in the center (although you can put this there if that's your preference). The corner location puts my GPS closer to me and rotating it toward the inside of the car cuts the glare. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase.

Works well with a Moto G (4th gen) for GPS navigation
After thoroughly researching the various types of smartphone/GPS mounts, I decided on this "bean bag" and immediately put it to the test on a 800 mile drive. It worked extremely well using my Moto G (4th gen) for navigation.. The positives: - Stayed in place on my dashboard for the entire trip. - Allowed me to keep my eyes on the road more than most other types of mounts This was a huge plus for me. - It's easily removed from the dashboard when not in use or when parked. The negatives: - When mounted on the center of the dashboard, it can block your view of turn signals on cars in the right lane. I would use it very carefully when driving in heavy traffic. It's not a problem in light traffic at freeway speeds. - It was easy to inadvertently switch off my Moto G when putting it in the mount. As long as you're mindful of this, it's not a problem.

The Perfect GPS Beanbag Mount
I just received this GPS mount today, and normally, I wouldn't rate something until I've had it awhile. Having said that, I couldn't resist -- that's how impressed I was with this necessity (for me at least, I drive for a living). The build is far better than I expected, it fits both my Garmin Nuvi 50 and my iPhone 6s+ firmly and perfectly. The company even provides a foam insert, just in case you need to use it for a smaller device. Altogether, there are 8 (!) positions to ensure a great fit. The bottom of the beanbag has a really good non-slip grip surface, and that's without even using the enclosed sticky pad. As to my security rating, I gave it 5 stars because it can be stowed under my seat very quickly, and the clam-shell design easily keeps it out of view. Of course, Amazon got it to me in two days, as usual. I could not be more pleased with this purchase and will definitely consider this company for future needs.

Wish I'd ordered this sooner!
I looked at so many different products when my Tom Tom GPS started jumping off the dashboard every time I tried to use it.... I was about to resort to glue or duct tape when I decided to give this Hippo a try. I was leery of all the negative reviews of similar products saying it would slide all over the dash. I LOVE my Hippo! Really wish I'd ordered it sooner. I am a social worker and travel around to homes in a large county on a daily basis, and use my GPS constantly. I also (allegedly) drive like a bat out of hell (sometimes). The Hippo has never moved, not even once. It tucks into the left corner of my dash/windshield perfectly. It puts my GPS at the perfect level to be able to see the info on the GPS without obstructing the windshield. For those who had issues with glare, I found a simple fix, just put the bottom of the GPS one slot back from where you put the top (so if the top is in the first slot, push the bottom back to the second). No more glare, and it's actually a great angle for reading the GPS. Can't say enough about this product, it's made my life much easier.

Worth every penny!
This thing is worth every penny! IF you are looking for a universal mount, have room on your dashboard & you don't mind something sitting there, this thing is near perfect! I used a piece or no-slip grip liner under the Hippo without using the double sided tape that's came with the Hippo and it stayed put! This way I can move it from car to car or change the location on the dash or even turn it for better viewing. Did some hard turns and it didn't budge while the sun glasses slid across the dash. Didn't intentionally try to dislodge it with hard driving but I think it will hold nicely. Used it with an old Garmin Nuvi & a friends Samsung Galaxy S and it worked great. The only problem, if you can call it that, was the power cord on the Nuvi was near the bottom and to one side. Thus you could not perfectly center the Nuvi in the jaws of the Hippo as the right jaw would sit on the connector. So it was a bit off center. Because of that, the power button was under the top jaw and you had to open the jaw slightly to turn the Nuvi on or off. No big deal at all.

Works well for any car and any device!
I have an older GPS and couldn't find anything to fit it to save my life! Finally came upon this little creature and it works great! I have a curvy dashboard and thought it might not work well, as I could not affix the bottom tape they have. However, it's weighted in such a way that you don't need the tape to keep it stable. I took it out for a test drive, round some really sharp curves, and the most it did was shift a little. It never fell off the dashboard. It never got so wonky that I couldn't fix it in a second. Just drove to a friends for the weekend, 3.5 hours on all kinds of roads, and it remained stable the whole time. The other great thing is that when you park your car you just take it off the dashboard and put it on the floor of your vehicle, away from prying eyes. Something you couldn't do if you affixed it. I'm buying one for a friend who has a bad habit of putting her iphone on the seat between her legs and then frantically picking it up when she's not sure of the directions. She'll love this. Super happy with this thing!

Functional. Easy to use. Stays put on the dash.
I bought this to hold my Garmin Nuvi GPS. My Garmin has the connecting cord in the back lower corner so it is not possible to center the GPS in the holder but this doesn't really matter. I just offset it slightly and it works fine. The holder works like a giant clip to hold any device regardless of size or shape up to about 7". The holder is weighty and has a small, square sticky pad on the bottom which helps it stay put on the dash. The sticky pad is not an adhesive. It is more of a soft, gel like substance that works through friction and it can be wiped off if it gets dirty. You can sit the holder anywhere on the dash and it generally stays put. If you slam on the brakes I suppose it could go flying but so far I've not had any problem. It's a good design, is functional and works as described.
