Great unit for the price
After reading the many different reviews for many different products for portable air conditioner I finally bought this one it was definitely worth every penny you can't put a price to a good night sleep. It's definitely cold and will cool a room down fairly quickly other reviews have said about the draining of the unit yet to drain the units I live in California and humidity only gets up to about 80% at the worst days. Compare to the prices of other units this is definitely the best price the only con that I see on this, is that the low fan in the high fan really make no difference also in a room under 200 square feet it will be hard for you to not be cold because this unit is pretty chilly. Lots of reviews talk about the noise level I read one person said it's like having your blow-dryer going that is about correct. I need to sleep with some kind of noise anyways so it doesn't really bother me. Also make sure you read the instructions the unit specifically needs to be plugged in to one outlet with no other plugs plugged into that particular Outlet. The window vent kit that it came with was about 6 inches too short for my window I used some of the styrofoam it came in the package to fill in the gap nothing a little duct tape can fix. I personally bought the warranty it's a 3-year extended warranty like this it gives me peace of mind that I will have a good unit for the next 3 years Overall I definitely recommend it this will not cool an entire house, I live in a one-bedroom apartment the room that it cools and maintains very cool is about 350 square feet.

Great price for cold air!
Even after it starts cooling down outside, it's still 90 inside for a while. high 80's all night long. This little girl is a life-saver. I am in my 50's, need my sleep, work hard all day (in AC :)), come home to my 17 yo red and sweating and my pug rasping for air, and me not wanting to turn on the oven or stove to cook dinner. I have seen folks below complain about the noise and emptying of water. It's no ore noisier than my box fans blasting away day and night, and I have not had to empty mine even once. I have had this little beauty on High from about 6:30 am to about midnight every single day for 9 straight days so far (heat wave in the NW). No water to empty at all. I'm not sure how accurate the temperature gauge is on this thing, but that is not as important as the comfort of my family - and myself. I just learned that my 77-yo mother does not have AC in her current home (step brother "taking care of" them). So I just bought one for her. I recommend this one to everyone. It's at least $100 less than others I have priced, it's on rollers so easy to move from room to room or window to window, and never lets up on the cold air. When I get too chilly, I just point the levelers upward or shift it toward the kitchen (or both) - I never turn it off during the day. LOVE this thing! So does my pug :).

More cooling power than my other 14,000 BTU portable AC
This thing kicks muthatruckin @$$! i don't have any central AC in my 1 br apt. i actually already own a Honeywell 14,000 BTU MM14CHCS.. but was tired of rolling it back and forth between the bedroom and the living room. because the Honeywell is (listed) as stronger than this Global Air AC, i was anticipating the GA to go in my bedroom, and the Honeywell to do the heavy lifting of cooling the living room / kitchen. Well i was wrong. This guy blows my Honeywell out of the water. My Honeywell at best gets the living area down to 75 degrees when it's in the 80's outside. This thing can keep it at 72 with no trouble. could cool it more if i wanted. i actually have to shut the AC off after a while because it makes the space too cold. So i am very happy. Especially considering it's literally half the price of my MM14CHCS. The one knock is that it is a tad loud. Even when the fan is on low (hardly a difference between low and high). you'll definitely know it's there and it's working. The remote works great so using it is very user friendly. the Hose and window blocker also much better quality than my honeywell's. The hose is longer and more flexible, and the window blocker can blocker a longer window than the one that comes with my other AC. Also, all of the reviews you'll read about having to drain it every few hours are either false, or these people live in Florida (ha) . i have ran it for about 6-7 hours straight for 3 straight days and have not had to drain it yet. All in all, very glad i found this unit on here. i would highly recommend.

Instant Coolness
I am thrilled with my purchase. I researched air conditioner options for weeks before making my selection, and I am so glad that I chose this unit. It is perfect for our needs, quieter than our window unit we needed to replace, and the filters are easy to clean. My only concern was the cord length, but the cord and the hose were both plenty long enough to reach our window and outlet. Set-up was instant and painless. I love how user friendly the controls are, and it even makes a cute little start up beep. :)

This AC literally saved my relationship!
Moving into a top floor apartment without AC during a month-long 100 degree + heat wave in August was a big mistake. For the first week or so we thought “nah, let’s save the money, fall is coming and we can find a cheaper AC when spring rolls around.” This optimism quickly turned into bickering, cold baths, and sitting in the car with the AC blasting just to have a minute to think. As a couple who had moved in together for the first time, we were questioning everything. Was it just the heat?! Has he always been this annoying?! Of course, every store in the entire city was sold out of portable air conditioners. You know that scene in “Jingle all the Way” when Arnold Schwarzenegger was looking for a Turboman doll on Christmas Eve, and the toy store employees laugh in his face? I literally had that experience but at Best Buy with an AC. So I took to amazon, and read reviews for probably 30 units and finally decided on this one because it seemed like the least of the evils (in our price range, all the ACs had a bunch of complainers in the reviews so I was very nervous to spend the money). Finally, on the hottest day of the entire year, the delivery man’s knock on the door was the sweetest sound we’d heard in months. Assembly took minutes. Some cuts of cardboard and duct tape helped fit the provided window insert into our huge window. Within 30 mins our 15 x 15 master was cooled down. That night we could actually sit in our living room comfortably. We actually smiled at eachother! We HUGGED! Like, our skin touched and we didn’t flinch. To address some of the issues others have brought up: The noise was actually one of my favorite parts. So much so that it is the end of November and I JUST put the AC away, because while we stopped using it on cool but still ran it at night just for the cozy sound. It’s loud enough that watching TV was a little difficult because we probably disturbed our apartment neighbors with the volume. But I still wouldn’t complain about the noise, we loved it. I never once had to empty the unit. I just tried to empty it before putting it away and there wasn’t a drop. The self-evaporating function worked perfectly! We don’t live in a particularly humid place but I had seen reviews from our same region complaining about how often they had to empty the water and I did not have that same experience. It is very user-friendly, we never had to refer to the manual for assistance. It’s a beautiful unit, it looks clean and shiny and it’s sleek enough to not look out of place in the bedroom. Sun turned to rain and leaves started falling. My boyfriend and I made it through. As I pulled that duct tape off the window today I felt a chill from the air outside and smiled, thinking about how prepared we are for next year when the heat rolls around once again.

Very well built and easy to install.
Let's just say I'm sitting at a very cool 68 degrees in my office above the garage right now. What else could you ask for? Very quick and easy install. The only thing I would change is to have the weather stripping included with the product but that's a very minor miss on the manufacturers end. I am extremely happy with this product and would recommend to a friend. My office is just over 400 sq ft and this product cools it from 80ish degrees to 68 in about 15-20 minutes.

Don't listen to negative reviews about the unit
I ordered this unit and it arrived today. Everything was in the box and was packaged easy and very well protected. Thankfully the window adapter fit my window! The manual and description didn't give dimensions. My window is 45 inches wide. The adapter will fit a 48 inch wide or 48 inch tall vertical window. I hooked it up with ease. Pretty much self explanatory hookup. I'm a hotel engineer and work with all kinds of HVAC systems and ptac units. Hotels use these style stand alone for emergency services for faulty in house systems. So a guest can have a.c. if their room unit breaks down. Indoor units seem a little louder than wall mounted or window units. This unit is fairly quiet lol. I've heard louder cold water cooling systems than this thing. So don't worry about the negative reviews saying it is loud. It's typical fan motor noise like a house fan. Secondly many had bad reviews about the unit runs constantly and never shuts off. That's because it does not have energy star auto fan on and off. Those kind of units are more expensive to make. This unit runs fan constant because the room temperature sensor needs moving air to measure temperature. Then it tells the compressor to turn on. The fan speed is a modem style variable speed capacitor type. Meaning that when switching from low to high speeds, the motor slowly speeds up in a few seconds. It's inaudible. That's why people are giving bad reviews about the fan speed is the same as low and low is same as high speed. This variable delayed speed up keeps the unit quiet when changing fan speed. So yes the high speed is blowing faster. You just can't hear the fan motor speed up. Another myth that people are giving bad reviews about? This unit has a dehumidifier setting. Make sure you don't accidentally push the button on the remote control for that cycle. Dehumidifier cycle keeps compressor on until the humidity is out of the air, and the temperature is below the manufactures programmed setting that cannot be changed. Dehumidifier cycle monitors the incoming air moisture and will not turn off the compressor cooling system until it reaches whatever percentage of humidity the manufacturer pre set the unit for. No air conditioner is 100% efficient in the auto evaporate system b and will not be able to evaporate the humidity it pulls out of the room when humidity is over 95%. I've cleaned up many of overflowing hotel units in my career. These units are not to blame. It happens with any self evaporative systems. If you live in a very humid part of the country, I'd recommend elevating the unit and using the provided drain hose with the unit, and attach it to the drain pipe on back. Then run the drain either in a pan or bucket, or if your dwelling permits? Drilling a hole to drain condensation tank outside the home. Then the unit will not go into overflow protection and shut down with the famous Fl CODE!! I know those codes from my job as a hotel maintenance engineer lol. So if you read the bad reviews about the unit, and want a professional honest opinion? Go for it. You have nothing to lose but the sweat off your back! Because this beast is well underrated! It's more like 12000 btu power! That's 1 ton cooling capacity. Fan blows hard and compressor does the job! Hopefully it will last me a few years. Maintenance is the secret to these things. Keep filters clean, coils clean. If the coil behind air filter is dirty? Home depot has commercial foaming coil cleaners. You want the safe one that doesn't harm or corrode metals. It'll say it on the can. Heavy duty commercial unit coils are made of brass tubing. Home units are mostly aluminum coils. Fred Munao

Great AC for the price.
Honestly for the 96 dollars off this was the best air conditioner for the price. Lucky for me i didnt have the same oily shipping issues that many have been complaining about. (Which happens if a unit is shiped not standing up right) so when mine came it was ready and good to go. Took me about 10min to set up and bam it was on. Quickly cooled my bedroom from 84°f to 78°f in less than 10min. Has trouble getting below 78 but thats my fault. 10000 btus is far to big for my bedroom so it cools super fast and then doesnt have time to efficiently remove the humidity in my room. But give it some time and eventually it will get there and believe me i absolutely love it. Would definitely buy again. Ps. I also didnt buy the foam probably will though to decrease air leakage.

This is an amazing machine. I like to sleep cold
This is an amazing machine. I like to sleep cold, and i always have to have air moving, or else i cant sleep. This machine almost can make my room too cold. This is a room that can have up to 4 people sleeping in it, with quite a bit of electronics producing heat. Ive been running this thing for almost a year now, and I havent even needed to drain it because it vaporizes the moisture before it can build up in the drain pan! Do your sweaty self a favor and get this now!
