got this to mount a camera on a bike. works on the handle bars and on the side of my bike rack. so has a good range of clamping and good holding power at least with a smaller camera. i used a sony nex 3 with a standard lens, no slippage in the ball head or clamp. small gopro style camera piece of cake. ball mount is a little rough could be smoother. again at a price point where a cheap ball mount by itself would be as much or more i give it a pass, it will hold a small camera fine on a jolting bike ride id imagine a larger camera would be fine stationary. you can swap out a better ball mount and i think its 1/4 20 with a 3/8 16 on the other side of the mount, so you could go either way if you wanted to upgrade. happy with my choice.

I had a photo shoot coming up where I had to attached a bunch of speed lights in odd locations. To cover myself I bought 3 different brands of similar clamps. These were the beefiest of the lot. Each one weighs about 3 times the other brands because these are solid metal. I was sure I would break some others if I clamped them down as much as I wanted, but these I could go ahead and clamp away. Under vibrating conditions the rubber may come loose, but in a studio that is not an issue. I also found that the jaws are very well designed and were able to grab surfaces that were nearly 2 inches wide down to a sheet of paper, and hold them firmly enough to let my speed light extend out horizontally and stable. This is the only type I will be getting in the future. Mind you, when I say that there heavier than other brands, they aren't really heavy. They are just really solid. The other ones looked the same on Amazon but are made of nylon (plastic).

This clamp is a nice alternative to the Manfrotto nano + ball head combo out there, especially for a fraction of the price (manfrotto nano + mini 492 ball head = $80ish). I own two of those combos and I'm confident that this super clamp can perform as well as the manfrotto combo. Per other reviews, the moment I received it, I used superglue to secure the rubber pads on the clamp. They were incredibly easy to remove and slightly annoying to put back so I decided I didn't want to deal with that in the future. vs. the Manfrotto nano + 492 ball head: This has a slightly wider clamp opening This has a slightly larger profile The clamp has just as a solid feeling The ball head is less solid feeling From previous experience, I know these types of ball heads will eventually wear out and loosen up, usually sooner than later. Given the price of the clamp, I suppose it's not a huge surprise they would use cheaper components.

This clamp system is the best that I've found for attaching a speedlight (Nikon SB-910) to a monopod for night sports photography (e.g. high school football) It's lightweight, grips firmly with a load on it without damaging the pole (monopod section) to which it's attached, and the mechanics work smoothly.

This is a high quality clamp that I use all the time. It does the job and holds on tight. I love this tool. It's a must have if you need to attach anything from a monitor to a microphone. Just to give you an idea of what it can hold with no problem, I attached my 7" monitor with one extended Canon type battery and hung my headphones from it and the clamp held on with no slipping. This is a must have for every type of Camera person.

I was looking for a solution for how to mount the HTC Vive's lighthouse base stations, I used these in conjunction with FastCap's 3rd hand support system, and it has made an excellent mounting solution! I looked at other products which had plastic construction, and I wasn't too excited about that, as I have had problems with plastic mounts in the past when I was mounting Bose speakers. These are made of metal and have a very solid feel to them, I feel very certain they are going to hold the lighthouses just fine.

I needed something to make it easier to use a small carbon fiber tripod for wild flower photography. My Benro with tilting column is perfect except it weighs about 4 pounds more than my carbon fiber tripod. This little gem allows me to clamp low on a tripod leg and get a macro lens down close to ground level and aim it right where I need it. It grips the leg well and the ball head is strong enough to hold an Olympus E-M5 with macro lens with no trouble. I will try it out with a Nikon D300 and long lens to determine if its capable of holding a heavier DSLR and update this review.

This product is very nicely machined. Great "fit and finish". I wanted it to use with an iPhone clamp to use on an exercise bike or on my treadmill (the aluminum plate that would be a book rest). The clamp is solid and works really well for my machines. Of course, I would not use this for riding a bike on the street. It isn't really designed for this and potentially could shake loose. The product is also not designed for heavy weights, such as a camera with a long telephoto lens. It might work, but it looks like this would be asking too much, and slippage could be a problem. The metal seems very good and I don't think that would be the issue. Rather, the friction surfaces are not too big. But, for what I wanted it is just right. Small, well built, easily portable in a gadget bag. The screw is also well-designed. It moves both jaws with each turn; so, opening and closing is quick.

Overall, this is a pretty good clamp. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would, but I'm erring on the side of 5 stars rather than 4. It is very versatile. I used this clamp to mount an on-bow camera on my compound bow for deer hunting. This is a very well built and somewhat "heavy" clamp. I like it MUCH better than the similar plastic ones I bought for comparison, and it was just a few bucks more than the plastic. The biggest thing I didn't like was the sliding crossbar on the adjustment screw. For most applications, it's probably not an issue, but in the case of my deer hunting, I couldn't have the noise of metal sliding on metal each time I picked up my bow. I ended up taking a rubber band and wrapping it several times around the handle after I got the handle tightened down where I wanted it. I found the adjustment wheel on top of the unit is best (for my purposes) oriented in a straight up and down or a 90 degree angle configuration. I like this clamp mount, and I will continue to use it until I find something better.
