Love this "kit"! The guitar is perfect for novices, which I am. I've had 2 teachers say that for a cheap guitar it produces amazing sound. I live in an apartment so I haven't heard the full capability of the amp but for the size and weight, it sounds just fine. I wish that the case had structure to protect the guitar while being moved around or in my car, I had to get a hard case for it for that purpose. Strings are easy to change and it sounds even better with flat wound strings. I hope you enjoy this guitar as much as I do.

It came ready to play out of the box. It has a buzz in the high tones, but I like a deep rich bass sound so I just turned it all the way for me. It might be in the cable, but I can always get a better cable. A shielded cable will reduce outside electric noise coming in. The edges of the frets are a little rough, but they don't cut and I shouldn't be rubbing them anyway. I took an emery board and rubbed them about a half dozen times and that took care of this. The neck was straight and required no adjustments to the truss rod. I will take it to a professional eventually just for any minor adjustments, but I don't have to. The amp is a small 15 watt, but that is all I wanted to play for myself. I live in the suburbs and don't need to annoy my neighbors - yet. The website for Davison is helpful and has links to guitar lessons. Overall it is a good introductory Bass. It will get me started without spending a lot. I want something that works no matter the price and the minor flaws above do not detract from the primary purpose - a bass that sounds good and is playable. For a little more money and someone more serious I would buy just the bass, then match a better chord and amp, but this suits my needs.

Had this a month now for my son. Good quality according to bass instructor. Slight adjustment made to height of strings, otherwise it was good to go. Blue color is dark blue but finish is good. Amp is good for beginner/practice, not a performance amp. Good for in the house. Case is a soft vinyl, not a hard case. Overall liked the full package idea for about the same cost as a low end Fender. Son loves it!!

It arrived very quickly, and the condition exceeded my expectations. For the price and quality i would recommend this to anyone who is starting to play the bass guitar. I will be ordering from this seller again. Highly recommend!

Bought it purely to use with Rocksmith 2014. Works well with the Rocksmith program although level still isn't as high as with electric guitar. My acoustic/passive electric bass didn't provide enough of a signal for the program to detect. This Bass has just the one pickup, but does have individual adjusters at the bottom of each string to ensure proper pitch on the frets. Neck has tension bar adjustment. Excellent bass and amp for the price. Would buy again.

Update 3/2018: Knowing what I know now, I probably should have gone 4 stars, but still, it’s not like this costs a ton of money. A serious beginner will quickly outgrow this and eventually want to throw it away. The frets needed to be filed down or it would scratch the hell out of my left index finger. It’s also very hard to keep this in tune. But....I needed something to start with, and it did serve that purpose. Anyways, original review is as follows: What you have here, in my opinion, is one of the best options if some one wants to play bass, but has always been a guitar player. I will always be mostly a guitar player but for some time I have wanted a bass, and for some reason I recently became determined to get one. I did not want to spend much on something that is not my main instrument. The Pawn shops were my first instinct for buying a fairly good priced one, if a little beat up looking. My Gawd, I was wrong! My skin crawled realizing they probably got those bass guitars for next to nothing, yet are selling them, in some cases, more than if you bought them brand new. Pawn shops appears to be the worst option to buy any used musical equipment, in my area anyways. So, I saw this full size starter bass here on Amazon. I really did not need the amp, but what the heck. I was just hoping the bass was solid, stayed in tune and had that fun deep bass sound. Reviews were mostly favorable, and my expectations were not high end to begin with. The bass itself is of solid construction and stays in tune just fine. Of course, the toy amp that comes with it is much too small and cheap to do its sound any justice. I did not expect any different, but of course I tried out the Amp. Other than discard it, it might be a bit better as a beginners guitar amp. It also turns off and on with an annoying electronic snap. Plugged into my 8 track recorder and good speakers the Bass itself has a sound that was deep and rich. Easier on my fingers than I expected, too. I think better quality strings would make an even bigger difference. I purchased Ernie Ball regular slinky strings, tho I have not put them on yet. It sounds good enough that I plan to use it to record with. If you are not expecting $500.00+ quality, but want something that at least sounds and plays good, you really can't go wrong on this one.

I played rock band on the Xbox 360 a year ago and I found that the bass guitar was easiest for me to play.So I was looking for one and came across a few on here.I was skeptical like everyone was BUT I read the reviews before purchasing the Item.I found some people had a few problems with the product. All in all they said they liked it and would recomend it to others so I went out on a whim and odered one for myself lol.I got it on 5/8/13 I opened it up and plugged it all in and EVERYTHING worked great.I put the strap on and as of yesterday the strap pin on the top of the guitar came off and I am unable to put it back on.That is ok because I will get a bigger screw and put it on again.Other then that I really enjoy playing the bass as a new hobbiy lol I have NO other complaints about this product and would recomend it to anyone who wishes to start playing the bass guitar :).

This package is great if you're just starting out. The guitar is pretty average, the amp doesn't have a lot of features, and the gig bag is meh, but that's why I love it. The guitar has 2 knobs to deal with which is perfect if you have no idea what the heck you're doing. Additionally the amp doesn't have a million settings to mess around with to make a decent sound. You can get away with just fiddling the volume to the appropriate level. The gig bag leaves something to be desired but is also plenty for throwing your guitar in your car and taking it somewhere. To people that complained about the strings constantly being out of tune, it appears that you have never played a string instrument before. When you get new strings you're going to need to stretch them a bit before they settle down and stay more consistently tuned. If I end up sticking with the bass I will definitely end up getting a nicer instrument in the future, but this is plenty to practice on and learn with.

Very impressed by this beginner pack. The guitar itself feels sturdy and well constructed, and the strings stay in tune pretty well. The amp is exactly what you'd expect - far from great but good enough for practicing and learning songs...it sounds best at a lower volume, so it's perfect if you live in an apartment and don't wanna get noise complaints. It has knobs for volume, bass and treble, along with a headphone jack. Pretty basic stuff but it does the job. You also get a strap, a few picks, and a bag to lug around your bass without damaging it. If you're new to bass guitar like myself, this is an excellent choice. Very nice quality for the price, especially the guitar itself. I don't have any complaints at all. It's not top of the line gear, but one would be crazy to expect that for the insanely low price point. It sounds good, feels good to play, it's the total package, and it's cheap. What else could you want? 5/5 Also...if you wanna get a dirty, rumbling, Geezer Butler ish sound...crank up the bass knob on the amp and turn the treble down to 1, and turn the tone knob on the guitar down almost all the way. I dig that doom rock sound but if you want a brighter tone, this package can do that too.

So when I first started thinking about getting a bass I knew i wouldnt be able to buy the top of the line $800 bass. So i took chance on getting this starter set and I do not regret anything. The Bass: Pros: -Holds tune -Sounds great -Pick up are still working fine -Comfortable weight (After a few hours your shoulder may hurt but I think if you get a better strap you should be fine) -Very beginner friendly Cons: -After a while i started to hear a little buzz/rattleing sound from the head but I do not know where its at. -Dont feel the tone knob effects to much of anything AMP: Pros: -Very loud. (dont be a fool like me and crank it up thinking it doesnt pack a punch) Cons: -Nothing Bag: Its a bag, not much to review on that. Overall: I feel this bass will lead me on to get a better quality and more professional bass. This bass is a beast and even tho it includes picks to start with im kinda leaning more to using my fingers. This bass will last you a while you lean the basics. Great use of tax returns.
