DIY energy efficient project!
Our bedroom receives a lot of direct sunlight and consequently, our room is significantly warmer than the rest of our house. We were tired of waking up on the weekends, feeling overheated and begrudgingly awakened by the amount of light entering our room at 7am. Our bedroom has 4 windows for reference. First, let me explain the installation process and what we learned from this experience. 1. Two people are needed to coordinate this application of this. 2. Make sure your windows are clean. Make sure you wipe them down with a material that doesn’t leave behind dust or pet hair residue. 3. Trim any excess caulking around the glass/window frame to ensure tight, adhered edges. 4. Measure your window pane, roll the film out on a flat, dust free surface and cut measurements with about a 1-inch grace margin for error. 5. Use a slightly soapy water mixture and thoroughly wet the window pane prior to application. Use towels on your floor. 6. Remove the clear plastic lining from the film using tape on alternate sides of the film to help peel off the layer. Do this in a synchronized fashion. For example, my husband held it tight while I slowly peeled away the plastic liner. 7. Peel the liner off only about half way, spray the sticky side of the film (the side the liner was on) and place it on the window pane. 8. Adjust the placement prior to removing the rest of the liner. A wet window and wet film allows for the film to slide. This is also crucial for removing bubbles. Make sure it’s WET. 9. Once in place, slowly pull of the rest of the liner and spray before allowing it to adhere to the window. 10. Once on window, spray the film again. Use a squeegee to squeeze out air bubbles and get a nice, tight fit. If your squeegee is running across a dry film, it’ll damage the film. Make sure the film is wet on the side you’re squeegee-ing. 11. Only begin cutting off the excess when the film is completely adhered without bubbles. Use a straight edge object in sync with a box cutter to get a tight cut along the line where your window pane meets the glass. 12. Squeegee again to make sure the cut edges are flat and tight. Dry everything off once finished. We need two rolls to do our bedroom. Our windows are about 5.5 ft in height each. One roll was able to comfortably do 2 windows with some excess left over. What you need to know about the product: 1. The product comes with a box razor and a squeegee for application. This is located inside the film tube and we didn’t find it until we opened it. 2. This is not a magic mirror. It works in the same fashion an interrogation room works. It’s reflective from the side facing the light and yes, it looks like a mirror. This means during the day, it looks like a mirror from outside. At night, the effect is reversed. 3. People cannot see you from outside during the day. At night, they can see into your home. So please don’t assume you DON’T need blinds or a curtain during the night. 4. This reduces sunlight and heat. Our bedroom is MUCH cooler. The product reflects light and therefore, there’s a noticeable difference in the ambient temperature of the room following application. It reduces yellow light to a more “cloudy day” light. 5. It’s energy efficient and if you follow the directions above, you can perform a DIY - energy efficiency project within your home for a fraction of the cost to hire a professional. We plan to purchase more over time for other sun-facing windows in our home. For reference, we live in Florida. We know how important it is to reduce heat within your home, save on your energy bill, and live comfortably.

Birds and Cats Living Together…Mass Hysteria!
We set up a bird feeder outside our dining room window so we could enjoy watching visiting feathered friends in the morning while eating breakfast. With 5 cats, we were not getting bird activity because all the feline window lunging had the birds freaked out and off to greener pastures. This weekend we put up this mirror cling and immediately the birds were back! They can't see the evil, lurking fur balls with serial killer tendencies just on the other side of the window and can eat in peace. It's a win-win because our sociopathic cats are entertained without the innocent birds being any the wiser. The downside is that the film has a blue tint to it so we can't see the colors of the birds as well as we would like, but without it, we see no birds so despite the tinting, we are very happy. Window clings and films are never easy to put up and it does require two people to get it to look nice. It will never be perfect because there are always little bubbles here and there despite our best efforts to get rid of them, but it does look pretty uniform for the most part with careful application. Putting this up is not a quick 10 minute process. Set aside some time and grab yourself an extra pair of hands. Read the instructions and use J & J baby shampoo with water in a squirt bottle to spray your windows and apply. My package contained a nice little squeegee and blade for cutting. Both were very helpful and I am glad they were included.

Great Mirror-like Film
I bought this to put on my glass door. It works really well for privacy, however it takes a little bit of patience. You have to cut the film to size, clean the area that you're applying it to, then separate the clear layer from the film (yes, believe it or not there are two layers!). That took me a good minute to detach and I thought bending the film would damage it but it didn't. You have to apply soapy water, but not too much. If you apply just enough of water to dampen the area, the film goes on easily and slips and slides for you to apply it in the right position. You need to use the included tool to smoothen it out and it takes out the bubbles and water. It may take a little while to dry though. Now, I can leave my door open and watch people who approach my home admire their reflection, or see their inquisitive faces wondering if anyone is behind the door. If the lights are on inside your home, then people can see in. Overall, I am pleased with this product.

Perfect
I purchased this to allow my cats to look out the front window and still provide the human staff with a bit of privacy. It works very well for this during the day and doesn't darken the front room too much. The application was less painful than I had thought it would be, but definitely requires two people. From the outside during the day it just looks like a reflective window over a dark room and you cannot seen inside.

Read Description Before Buying
A one-way film only works when one side is considerably brighter than the other side. The dimmer side gets the privacy and the brighter side cannot see through. For example, when you see office buildings during the day, the windows look like mirrors (privacy for the inside). During night time, you can see which rooms are lit up because the privacy direction has switched. The same thing applies to the one-way glass in interrogation rooms. There really is no such thing as one-way film, this is just as close as products can get and the name is by industry standard. If you use these on your home's windows, expect to get privacy during sunny days. Come nighttime, people will be able to see in.

GREAT Window Film!! Worth the cost!!
GREAT Window Film... I just received it today and already on...( I did this by myself in less than 1 hour from start to finish) I have a glass front door with a black iron decorative frame and I leave my front door open most of the time, but I have nosy neighbors and I want the privacy from anyone walking up. This was a easy to install, I read the instructions first and did my prep work. I cleared off my dining room table and placed the film to cut, went to measure the door and came back to cut and left 1/2 inch on the side and bottom. after washing the window I placed a piece of tape on each side of the corner and then laid the cut film on the floor by the door, sprayed the door with soapy water and also the film, pealed back some of the film and then placed it on the door, used the tape from one side to get me started. Went very fast, then used the squeegee that came with it and trimmed the edges with the blade that also came with it. Looks great, I recommend and I have enough left over to do a couple of windows in the bedroom. 5pm eastern time and I went out to see if I could see in and nope, but then again I didn't have the foyer light on either. I would buy again.

I was blown away at how effective this film is at deflecting heat. It just may be too dark for some people.
I live in an upper-level apartment and have a pretty wimpy air conditioner that costs a bloody fortune to run during the summer time. I have a large sliding glass door in my living room and a large window in the bedroom. Needless to say, they both help to increase the levels of heat in my home to extremely uncomfortable levels and the air conditioner has to work ultra hard just to keep the living room at a comfortable level. So I needed something to help reflect the sun away. I had looked into a few DIY options and things like tin-foil doo-dads to stick into my window. But I still wanted to be able to see out of them. So I bought a roll of this film just large enough to fit my sliding glass door. And WOW! What a difference it makes! It's a night and day difference in the levels of heat penetrating my living room! I'm not joking when I say that you can barely feel the heat getting through when this film is on...But don't get me wrong, there's still heat coming through, but at much, much lower levels. The air con doesn't have to work nearly as hard, if at all. And if I throw a window fan in there to suck out whatever heat does make its way in is quickly sucked out. We had an early 80-degree day not too long ago, and I didn't even have to think about turning my air on. The sun can beat into my home all it wants and it remains comfortable or close to it 90% of the time....I was so satisfied with this product I bought another roll a week or so later for my bedroom and had the same results. A little window fan paired with this film will keep you cool..Or at least, much cooler than if you didn't have the flim. Two CONS: The film is a pain in the ass to apply on large surfaces like sliding glass doors on your own. If you have to go it alone, make sure you measure and cut the film properly and make sure your windows are spotless and you soak both the window and the film with a spray applicator. Keep them both wet as you can. Otherwise, you'll be sorry if the film touches a dry spot, as it's not easy to just peel off for a quick adjustment if you screw up and will likely end up with creases and crinkles on your film. Second, the film is quite dark. I provided a photo of my sliding glass door so you can try and gauge the difference of how much light this stuff blocks out. During a bright sunny day it's nice to keep the shine at bay. But with even a little overcast it's hard to determine if the sun is even out at all. It almost look's and feels like you're looking outside on a grey, rainy day..So this stuff may be too dark for some people. Personally, I love having it in my bedroom. Keeps the sun from lighting up my room as if an atomic bomb just went off, but just bright enough to wake up peacefully without burning my eye holes. All in all, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff, and will be buying more when I eventually move!

Great tint, mirror is awesome.
The mirror and tint area great. I don't expect perfection because this is a DIY solution, and it perfectly served my need. I am not a professional who applies films regularly, but I do have some experience and I'm also a bit obsessive. I think that combination is enough to achieve great results. I think it's very important to remember that the vast majority of negative critiques could easily have been avoided with proper preparation and an appreciation for the the varying factors that influence the rate of success. If the surface is scratched, shipped, uneven, or even a little bit dirty, your results will reflect that. Spend TOO much time prepping, and be anal about the details. It's not fair to fault a product for user error. And when you are squeegeeing out the bubbles, be thorough. It can take several passes to get them all out and any that are left behind will show. Also, if you don't understand how light passes through a mirrored tint, don't complain about how you can see through it. Physics doesn't take a break just because you want a product to do what it's not designed to do. The mirror is great and the tint is heavy, but you will ALWAYS be able to see through to the side that possesses the light source! So yeah, as long as your expectations match your effort, you will be pleased with this window film.

Shocked at how great it was
First, I read a lot of reviews saying the tint has a mirror effect at night. Which is true, but it clearly says it is in the description. The product itself came perfectly in the box, instructions are easy and clear and if you follow them directly you will have no issues at all. The tape to separate the film and liner can be a bit tricky but just be careful. Make sure you DO spray the window AND adhesive side before installing, it will make your life a lot easier! After you first place it on the wall, wrap a piece of paper towel around the squeegee and slowly get the air bubbles and water out and also use the squeegee to cut the excess off the edges. You honestly can't tell it's there during day. Also, your room will be darker and with more privacy because during the day you can't see from the outside looking in. BUT at night it's the opposite, so just put your blinds down. I wanted to test this on my bedroom windows before anything else because I wanted tint that keeps my house cooler, darker, privacy, and I can still see out during the day and this does exactly that. I can honestly say my bedroom was minimum 10 degrees cooler than any other room in the house. I will definitely be buying more and this is by far the best bang for your buck for buying window tint.
Pretty Swag
This stuff works great!
This stuff is amazing!! I can see outside perfectly and can't see inside the house unless I put my face directly up to the glass and shield the light out with my hands around my eyes... which I'm not worried about someone doing! I just wanted some privacy from the window in my front door that would allow anyone to see inside my house while standing at my front door. I can now see who is ringing my doorbell without them knowing I can see them. The photos I included are from the inside of my house looking out, then from the outside looking at the door, then a closer and closer look at the mirrored effect until my phone is placed directly against the window with my hand shielding the light out.
