I was skeptical about using this at first, relying on all the positive reviews only. My god, has this been useful. When this gets REALLY useful is in the middle of the night if the baby gets fussy. You turn it on, and magically within minutes the baby goes back to sleep and you don't have to wake yourself up shushhing the baby for 15-30 minutes. Before we used it, for example, he woke up regularly at 4:45 am like clockwork. The morning we first used it, when he woke up completely at 4:45 (normally no way to put him back to sleep at that point), he gave us an additional ONE HOUR of sleep. When you're exhausted, how much money would you give for ONE HOUR of solid sleep? We've gotten this for two months now in the mornings, and many other times when he's woken up or fussy during naps. A total life saver, worth way more than its price.

This is amazing! I am a newborn photographer and use this during my sessions to sooth the baby. It works!

I didn't know this thing existed until my cousin sent me one as a baby gift. At first, I scoffed thinking "What a waste of plastic. I can make this sound myself!" I was so nieve. Shushing my baby for long periods of time made my mouth muscles burn and put me out of breath. This soother is MAGIC. I turn it on, and he calms down nearly instantly. When we were sleep training I would turn it on and leave it near his crib, then walk out of the room. The shushing helped him tremendously during the sleep training process and I love that it turns itself off so I don't have to go back in and possibly disturb him. Heck, this thing now works on me! I get drowsy when I hear it now too. LOL. Now that my baby is a bit older and good at putting himself to sleep we don't use it as often as we did. But MAN, the shusher is a godsend in the first few months when you need it most. This is my go-to baby shower gift now.

I bought the baby shusher in February, in anticipation of my grandson’s birth in July. When it arrived, I tucked it away and forgot about it. I started babysitting my grandson full-time when he was three months old, and for a month I struggled with his fussing and crying. Then I ran across the shusher and tried it on him. It worked beautifully and I was kicking myself that we had not been using it all along! When he was six months old, he started daycare. His first day was difficult. He barely slept an hour, so my daughter took the baby shusher and left it with him in the baby room on the second day. The daycare workers loved it! Not only did my grandson go to sleep, but so did the seven other babies in the room, all at the same time! The workers told my daughter how well it worked and asked if she could leave it there every day! I think that’s the best endorsement it can get!

When I first saw this shusher I thought - that is silly, paying that much for a little Shhhhh. Now that I have used it, this is now my go-to baby gift. It truly is magic for my son. If he is crying or having difficulty going to sleep, we turn this on, and he is soothed in less than a minute. I like that it runs for a little bit, then shuts itself off. And, you can adjust the volume to the environment and need. We have dropped it a dozen times and it has taken some abuse, but still works great. In 10 months, we have replaced the batteries once so far. If you are willing to try it, I don't think you will regret it.

*edit* my sis said she used this for about a month and it just stopped working. She replaced the batteries and still nothing. Hoping we can get a replacement one. It worked GREAT up until it crapping out though. I still think it's a great buy, just stinks that it doesn't work anymore. I bought this for my sis, who just had her first baby last week. I bought it solely based on a blogger that I follow who said and I quote "we don't go anywhere without it"...that's all I needed to hear to buy it. They've had it for 4 days and it's always wherever the baby is. They said it calms my nephew down when they change his diaper (pre-Shusher he would get fussy). It helps him sleep and just provides great white noise. It's ridiculously easy to use. Three notches are for 30 min, 15 min and off, it's basically goof-proof. The price seemed a little high for it just shooshing but I babysit and shooshing with your own mouth gets tiring after 10 or 15+ min and my mouth starts to go numb, plus you can't talk, so this is definitely gets an A+ just for that alone. They haven't had it long enough to give feedback on the battery life, but I think it takes batteries, and you can get them at the dollar store, so I don't foresee that being an issue. I'm honestly debating getting one for myself, to take with me when I babysit, for my box of tricks. I also love this because it's portable, the other huge plus, most kids I sit for have sound machines, which are great, but they stay plugged into the wall and don't get moved around, this is light and easy to toss in a bag or place next to the car seat on a car ride.

I have a very difficult newborn who may be colicky according to our pediatrician. As a first time mother this is extremely stressful and frustrating. The image in my mind of sweet evenings cuddling, reading bedtime stories, and rocking blissfully in the nursery are now laughingly unrealistic and have been replaced with the reality of snort-screaming, flailing tiny arms, and desperate pleas from my husband and I for the baby to relax. Someone recommended this baby shusher to me and it sounded ridiculous but we’ve already spent hundreds of dollars on swings, rock n plays, and swaddles so what’s $20 more, right? Holy cow. Why oh why does this thing work? I don’t understand. I have read (and found truly helpful) “The Happiness Baby on the Block” and know that the “shushing” sound is soothing to babies but this silly little machine seems to be just the right frequency or speed or something that it actually calms my little devil down. We’ve found it the most valuable as a white noise to use once he’s actually fallen asleep that allows me to do once impossible things like eat something with a fork or put on shoes. Just trust me and buy this thing. It sounds ridiculous, like a recording of a person just shushing over and over again, but the ability to change the volume from very soft to what seems dangerously loud gives a wide range of possibilities and the automatic timer ensures you don’t just live with that sound perpetually in the background. I do wish the timer could be extended for a little longer, but you can always restart it! If you’re a tired parent it’s worth the try, isn’t it?

This thing is amazing. Found out about it from out newborn photographer and ordered one before we left her studio. We use it for naps, when she's fussy out and about, in the car, at night... Almost every situation we've used it. She's four months old and it's still a must have in the diaper bag. My only complaint, more of a wish maybe, is that it had a continuous mode, rather than a 30 minute shut off. I'd pay good money for one that didn't stop abruptly. I've gotten remarkably good at reseting it right before the 30 minute mark, but night time would be better if it would just keep going.

It works but you need to be patient. With my baby (she is 6 months old) it was not like magic but over a couple of nights it started to work. We were sleep training our baby after 6 months of co-sleeping and it was not easy. When we got the Baby Shusher we had high hopes for it. In the first night it was a disappointment. It didn't look like it was working at all. We persevere and after a couple of nights it started to work like we imagined it would. Now, once we turn the shusher on she calms down and 5 to 10 minutes later she is sleep. I totally recommend for parents sleep training their babies!

I was introduced to this at my twin's newborn photoshoot. It helped them fall right to sleep and she was able to get AMAZING shots! A few weeks later, I was going on little to no sleep trying to get my girls to calm back down and go to sleep, then a lightbulb went off and I remembered this amazing shhhh machine. So in a the wee hours of the morning, a desperate, sleep deprived mom orderer this and has been using it ever since. I usually try to only use it at bed time so they associate the sound with bed time. It really helps my girls calm down and fall asleep. I love it!!!
