Great
Great product for a low price. Very easy to install. Wife requested extra security measures for my times away on business. This was an easy addition to home security

Amazing Product (Security and Baby Proofing)
Amazing Product. My two year old son figured out how to open the door knob covers. He had access to all areas of the house including the garage. We found out he also knows how to press the garage door opener. We needed something to lock the doors. I purchaced the lock because it mounts to the door frame without the need of another piece mounted to the door. We have cheap hollow doors. I installed the lock with the 3 inch screws provided to add greater protection from intruders. I purchased and installed 3 locks so far.

Great Device
This item is so simple to install and really does an excellent job. I live in a nice neighborhood but crime happens everywhere. I was burglarized about 20 years ago when I was living in an apartment. The burglar broke a window and cut himself badly. There was blood all over everything. He did not get away with anything large due to his injury. It is one of those things that never completely leave your memory. My main issue with locking devices for doors is aesthetics. I don't want it to look like a prison cell. In my home, I have installed locks that cannot be bumped. They look like regular locks. I have added steel reinforcement to the door frame that accepts the deadbolts. You cannot see them when the door is closed and they can be painted. When I saw this item, I just thought it could not be much help. After watching the video, I bought one to try it out. While it is not invisible, very little shows outside the door. I could not believe how well it worked. Once it is snapped in place, it is not moving. I plan on buying more and putting two on each door. If you have solid wood interior doors, these would work well inside also. Two of these on a bedroom door would surely slow a burglar down to give you enough time to call 911 and get the safety off your 45.

Awesome awesome awesome, works even if molding and door are not flush
I cannot praise this lock enough. Quick summary of all its advantages: + This lock can be installed, even if your frame/mold is not flush with your door, which is the case in my house. It took me forever to find a lock that was suitable for this situation. + If you get SPAX screws and you have a wooden door frame, you do not need a drill to install this lock. You can just screw it right in. That is what I did and it was easy. + in general, this is very easy to install and does not take long. Although, if your frame/mold is not flush with your door, it is a bit tricky to get it positioned right. Perhaps stick it to the frame with double sided tape, close the door, and see if it easily closes; then mark the position of the holes with a pen. + It looks good + Super easy to open and close + If you use 3" screws, they go past the frame into the wall, which means that people won't be able to kick in the door by kicking against the frame + I don't see how this lock could be opened from the outside, it seems very secure. I feel so much better knowing that, even if my main lock gets picked, this one will still keep the door shut. Things to be aware of: + You cannot open the door at all when this lock is closed. If you want to open the door even just a little, you have to open the lock. That is exactly what I wanted but I know others want a lock where they can leave it locked and still open the door. + There needs to be a little bit of space between your door and the frame. Otherwise, the lock will not fit in between.

Awesome inexpensive lock. Big Bang for the money and additional sense of security.
This is an update to a previous review. I have recommended this lock to several of my friends and family. It is a very low cost lock for that added sense of security. This is great for any door this opens towards you. I have them mounted on a door with trim as pictured and on another door without trim. Someone tried to kick in my side door and the door did not budge! If anything it probably hurt their leg or at least I hope it did. A simple easy to install lock for a great price. I bought two and they reinforce my existing security.

Peace of mind for door reinforcement! (Use 4" drywall screws or longer)
Was worried someone might try to break in because of "crazies" around the neighborhood. So I put these on for my family to keep them safe. I unlocked my deadbolts, other locks and things to "test this" out. I kicked the door, rammed into the door, did both and the door didn't budge. I dented the steel door before it budged or moved. If you want some extra security I would HIGHLY recommend this. SIDE NOTE: The long screws that came with this SUCK and strip easily. I would get some 4" or longer drywall steel screws to put through it into your frame and that baby won't budge. That's what I did.

GREAT for classroom doors
It may be a long reivew, but bear with me. I purchased about 75 of these to be placed on classroom doors. The school has metal frames and good wood doors. The doors do have wireglass windows, but we decided to get these installed to prevent a door from being kicked in. I ordered 1 to test first and installed it on my office, which has the same setup as the classroom doors. I tested it out pretty thoroughly by having 250lb+ football players take a 4-step run at my door. It shook, but never gave in. I was fairly impressed. Installation of each one took less than 10 minutes. That may seem like a long time when doing 75 doors, but I took my time to install them correctly. Remember, the primary concern here is school safety and these really helped us with that, along with other precautions. At any rate, we took our time to make sure that each one was positioned correctly to maximize effectiveness. As a result, I mounted them up high on the door frame in the classrooms to help prevent someone from outside reaching it, even if they broke/shot through the wire glass. They are not obtrusive, so they don't draw attention. This is great since students are less likely to mess with it. Note: The teachers have pretty good classroom management, so that kind of thing is not normally an issue. (I will try to get a picture or two up) The school has gotten through the 2016-2017 school year without any issues (read threats) or students messing with the locks. The school administration is happy, parents are happy and I (as the go-to school safety guy even though I am really the IT guy) am happy. We feel better by having these installed and more prepared for threats to the school.

Keeps the Bad Guys Out, Keeps the Good Guys In!
We purchased this item not so much to keep people out, but instead… to keep people in. You see, we’ve got an adventurous two year old with a spirit like Indiana Jones. He climbs, scales, jumps, and on rare occasions—even makes daring escapes from native tribes, arrows and large boulders. Once our little boy was upwardly mobile, he developed a keen interest in the outside world, only to be foiled repeatedly by a deadbolt that he was too short to reach. After a few months, and plenty of Brawndo, he finally achieved his lifelong goal of growing tall enough to lock and unlock the door by himself. As we love him, and don’t want him completely out of the house for another 16 years or so, we purchased this smooth-operating reinforcement lock to keep him at bay, and I absolutely love it. The ‘Satin Nickel’ finish matches our door handle and hardware perfectly, and the sleek design of this product looks great mounted on the doorframe. Install from start to finish took around 20 minutes. The instructions were clear and concise, though if you plan on using the included 3” screws, I’ll say that pre-measuring and drilling pilot holes is a must! You can likely install this lock with a screwdriver if you intend to use smaller screws, but you’ll save yourself a lot of headache (and hand-ache!) using a power drill. The only downside I’ve encountered thus far with this item, is that my wife has errantly locked me out of the house on more than one occasion. I specifically recall one instance when I was out front working, and I remembered the game was on; I hustled back into the house to check the score—and I ended up mashing my face into the door at relatively high speed, happily my team won (so it was totally/mostly worth it)! That event also served as a bit of an unplanned, unintended stress-test on the product, and I’m glad to stay the door didn’t give an inch. As far as keeping it clean, we just use a damp cloth to keep the lock looking like new. The back side of the stopper is made of black rubber (pictured), and while we do occasionally end up with some of that residue transferring to the door, it wipes clean easily and without mess. All told, whether you’re looking to keep the bad guys out, or the good guys in, I think this is a great buy! Feel free to leave me a comment or question, I’m happy to add anything else you’d like to know about the product. Thanks for taking the time to read my review, hopefully this information was useful!

Better safe than sorry
The lock in my apartment kitchen door is a bit flimsy. I felt I could open it with just a kick or maybe several. Although I live in a relatively safe neighborhood, well you'll never know. Better safe than sorry. I have searched for the best lock that won't get my landlord ballistic when he sees it. I feel I did a good job installing it without the use of a power drill, so I was only able to use the short screws and not the 3" ones. Here are the pics I took.

A lock one may depend on- when at home.
As a part-time locksmith for many years, I have learned most residents are clueless how easily, quickly and quietly the vast majority of key locks may be opened without the proper key. This simple device offers a huge increase in security, while one is home or sleeping at night, but it only functions on doors which open into the room which you are protecting. It also helps reduce kicking in doors, which often now is a favorite way crooks attempt to enter buildings. If mounted high up, it discourages young children from leaving the house on their own, letting in strangers before the parents make it to the door or from entering the parent’s bedroom unannounced. I have purchased over 30 of these locks recently and they are currently my favorite gift for friends and family members, usually four locks at a time, along with heavier duty 4-inch #10 Phillips flat-head screws. That is how much I like these locks! Note: These locks are NOT useable when exiting a door, to leave the structure. For that application, one needs a bump-proof lock, like a Medeco or similar. If you cannot afford $80 Medeco locks, have a nice alarm system, along with other layers of security and utilize these locks when you are home. For renters, these locks may be mounted on MOST doors with only three screw holes. Really tight doors may require a little chisel work, especially if one decides to use huge #12 Phillips flat-head screws, which are really too large for this lock, as designed, but in bad neighborhoods, folks have tweaked things to make long #12 screws work. Just make sure that the door and door frame are up to the task. A lock is only as good as the weakest link!
