On the advice of a friend, I purchased this to grind spices. He told me that he tried a few different ones, including some of the big $$$ ones that cost $150 or more. After all was said and done, he said that this one was the best one he has ever owned and in fact, purchased two of them - one for coffee and one for spices. The only problem he ever had was with whole nutmegs. Aside from that, it worked great for him. And with that also being said, I bought one, too - just for spices (I'm not a coffee drinker). I use it to grind spices for making barbecue rubs. Grinding spices helps them penetrate the meat deeper and less spice is required to get the same flavor into the meat. To that end, this little grinder is fantastic and does the intended job wonderfully. Oh, and it does it for under $20, I don't think the price can be beat for the same quality, either. So, if you need a spice grinder, definitely consider this one, especially over those more expensive ones. UPDATE 7/23/2018 - I have used this little guy a several times now and still have nothing to complain about. It works well, it works fast, and it does exactly what I needed it to do - grind spices up into a powder to then use or rubbing meat for grilling/smoking. To that end, the ribs were fantastic that I smoked yesterday and this device contributed largely to the success of how those ribs turned out. I'm still very pleased with this product, especially the price.

Size: I purchased this based on it being a smaller grinder as it is my backup grinder. We have a large burr grinder we use for espresso and it’s a pain to change the grind once it’s “dialed in” so we purchased this for French press and pour over ideas. It suits our purpose quite well and can hold about 3oz of beans without being over full. I read some reviewers say 10 Tbs another said 1/2 a cup. I would agree with those assessments too. It’s compact and the cord storage built in at the bottom is a big plus. Design: I wanted a stainless interior and I am glad I got this unit. As another user mentioned, the lid fitting over the top of the grinder rather than tucking inside is a plus in my book too. It makes for easier clean up and seems like a better long term design. The clear lid and stainless interior make it easy to see what’s going on inside, whereas if the bottom were black plastic as is the case with many grinders, it would be harder to discern. Grind: as advertised, this is not an adjustable grind. However, the longer you grind, the finer the grind will become. One user mentioned that the grind was inconsistent with some being finer and some coarser. I can concur with this, but with most grinders like this, that is par for the course. My solution for this is to slowly turn the unit upside down while grinding which shifts the contents and uses gravity to help distribute the contents for a more even grind. Of course, if you do this keep your hand on the lid so you don’t spill :) Value: this is exactly what I was hoping for and I like how it works and looks. I did see the reviews that mentioned they had issues down the road so I will be sure to follow up if I experience any issues. I always appreciate feedback about small appliances as time wears on because it’s important to know if the unit will last for a year, or a month. Other uses: worth noting that we also wanted to use this for spices and given the ability to grind to a fine dust, it will be great for star anise and other hard spices we like to use. The stainless chamber will make it easy to clean out when using between spices and coffee.

This is a very good grinder. I have had several of the more known name brands but this has several nice features over those. One is the clear lid slides OUTSIDE the black body, where most others have it go inside. The outside sliding traps less coffee gunk and opens/closes more easily. This one also has a very deep grinding well. I was worried that the lid would not sit on the counter without rocking since it looks round, but the top is actually flat enough. Also the lid is clear (compared to other ones I've had) so you can watch the coffee grind, very useful if you want different grinds from coarse to fine. I don't know about the cooler grinding, but the coffee does taste great.

So, I'm not using it the way that trendy normal people use it- I've been buying beans and bulk-grinding them at home, namely because I bought a bunch of coffee oblivious of the fact that it had not been ground :) but I could easily see a normal, well adjusted person grinding these in the morning on a per coffee basis (not me, and have a 4 year old so mornings are insane). I've also used it to turn oats into flour. It's so quiet and compact, and it has a nub underneath to wind the cord so it's not out and messy. Additionally, this is one of the largest capacity coffee grinders in this price bracket. This has really exceeded all expectations.

Definitely the quietest of the coffee bean grinders. Doesn't grind a TON of beans at once, but enough to fill a filter with enough grinds for a pot of coffee from 4-12 cups. Grinds quickly, fineness equivalent for a percolator.

Our 13 year old coffee grinder finally bit the dust, and we’ve been on a journey trying to find a good replacement. A pilgrimage, really. This grinder has a simple design in the canister and lid, so by design it doesn’t let your precious grounds be wasted. It’s easy to work and hold the on button - as Capresso recommends, we try to grind in 10-second increments to get an even grind. It is also surprisingly quiet; so many of the grinders we tried you could hear from the street. We’ve found another years-long grinder!

Powerful and very quiet. I use it for spices only. Turns salt into powder in about 10 seconds. Easy to clean and response well to constructive criticism.

I bought this for grinding medical cannabis for tinctures and edibles. Very happy with the results. I'm sure it works great for coffee too.

Works great and looks great. A bit loud but thats to be expected. Great product.

Good little coffee grinder. Badass for the price does its job well have been using it steady at least once to twice a day since I bought it.
