I was not sure if I needed this when it popped up as a recommended companion item with my senville mini split, but I did need it. It has a schraeder valve in the tip which seems unnecessary. I removed the core from it for vacuum pump down

Ductless Mini Split System charging vacuum port adapter This adapter, or the equivalent Yellow Jacket 19173, is mandatory for all Pioneer mini-split systems and others with 5/16" SAE service ports. Attach this adapter using grooved pliers to tighten and thus prevent leaks, but don't over-tighten. I.e., hand tightening might leak. You can then attach 1/4" flare fitting hoses available from Yellow Jacket and others, and use a manifold set or other gauges. Before using this adapter, check to see if the Schrader valve depressor was factory installed at the female end as some apparently are shipped without them – which renders it useless. I used this adapter for a new Pioneer mini-split install to vacuum the system and it worked as designed – hence the 5 star review. Customer Photos show the adapter in use.
