A good solution for across-country moving or camping. It is waterproof, and we had proved it.
It survives more than 2000 miles across the country from Charleston SC to Tucson AZ. We love it! We packed our clothes in vacuumed Ziploc bag, but none was wet nor punctured during the trip. We left it on our car roof top the entire time for 7 days including nights while sleeping at the hotel along the road. We went through 2-days straight nasty rain from South Carolina to Mississippi. Then, an all-day rain in Dallas continues by sandy weather from San Antonio toward Tucson, and it worked! Highly recommended. Pack it up and save it for our next trip. P.S. I would recommend to get a small TSA lock or combination lock if you were to leave it outside with your car while sleeping over at the accommodation. We noticed someone looked at our bags then walked away after checking out the lock. Again, don't pack valuable item in there if you don't want people to steal it!.

Must for trips!
We purchased this Kepper 07203 Waterproof Roof Top Cargo Bag for my Cadillac SRX along with a mat to keep the bag from sliding all over the place. The reason for this purchase was for a trip down to the Texas Coast. We had 2 adults and 3 kids in the car and there was no way we could fit all of our luggage, beach canopy, toys and baby gear. If you have ever traveled with kids, it's like moving. We needed to find another alternative to lugging our stuff with us. I started to research rooftop bags and we needed something that was going to stand the test of wind and rain but also provided the much needed space to hold our stuff. I also noticed that most people purchased a mat to keep it from sliding backwards or forwards when you accelerate or stop. My vehicle is a mid-size crossover SUV and the top is not huge. So, in the middle of June we purchased the bag and the mat. We tried it out about a week before to make sure it fit properly and it did! Now came the hard part.....would everything fit on top of my tiny car and would the mat fit and bag too. And I'm pleased to say YES. So off we went to the beach. We didn't hit any rain along the way. But that bag stayed put! So, not only did it protect my car from being scratched, it protected the bag from damage as well. The bag is durable and the straps are easy to figure out and put on the car. The zippers are well made and this stores easily.
Summer Day
Drove over 2800 miles, no issue. WITHOUT RAILS/BARS.
(Actual user testimonial. This is not a paid/compensated review) My girlfriend and I recently relocated from NYC to LA. We downsized as much as necessary and packed the rest of our lives into our 06 Mazda3 hatchback and began heading West. Not gonna lie, I was quite skeptical whether or not this thing will last a trip over 2800 miles since there were a handful of reviews mentioning that their bags ripped on a trip around 500 or 800 miles. Boy, did Keeper prove me extra WRONG. To say we were impressed was an understatement. I would say our trip probably put this Keeper to the ultimate test and it passed all without a single scratch. The first obstacle for our Keeper was that our Mazda3 does NOT have sidebars or any rooftop rails, nor did I install any removable or inflatable crossbars. I simply used 2 ratchet straps and looped the front straps into the sunroof and zoom-zoom'ed to the West ;) What we loaded on top or our car were all clothes packed in vacuumed bags. I'd say the Keeper was about 80% packed and all of our cloths weighed around 100~130lb. The second obstacle was weather, which many have complained. Getting things soaked didn't really bother us since the clothes were all vacuumed sealed but we were worried that water might add extra weight if it's trapped inside. Now if it doesn't rain much, whatever, but the majority of the trip it was raining. In fact, the rain started since the day we left NYC. A few days we were even driving in pouring storms for a few hours. Surprisingly, not a single drop of water was found at the end of the trip. The ONE little inconvenience we had was that water would occasionally drip into the car when it rained very hard because the straps were linked into the vehicle, but that's only because we didn't have sidebars or rails to tie it. After 7+ days, 3000+ miles, hot days around 100, some pouring rains, and driving average at 65-70mph, Keeper arrived in Los Angeles with no scratch but dead bugs in the front. Total cost of my setup? $50 for the carrier and less than $15 for 2 1200lb rated ratchet cargo straps. I must say this thing really REALLY lived the hell out of its expectation. Did its job WAY above and beyond. Thank you Keeper.

Pros & Cons after 3,000+ miles of use
We purchased this cargo bag to put on our Buick Enclave for a 3,000+ mile roadtrip around the US. Overall, highly recommend. **This is NOT a paid or subsidized review.[...] PROS * Installation: easy to install - not a lot of fussing with straps or re-situating. Recommend purchasing with mat (ROOF CARGO BAG PROTECTIVE MAT for Car Roof Storage Bags with EXTRA PADDING and GRIP Place the car roof mat under any rooftop cargo bag TOP UNIVERSAL ROOF RACK PAD for PROTECTION from Car Roof Racks * Really is WATERPROOF. We drove through driving rain, and as long as you follow the installation instructions and protect the zippered area with the covering flap, your stuff will be dry. * It holds A LOT. We fit 2 children's suitcases, 1 large duffle bag, a Pack-n-Play, and assorted other small bags in with no problem at all. It almost completely freed up the entire back of our car. * Quiet - no problem with road noise. CONS * Security - It's zippered closed with two pretty small zipper pulls, and they give you this tiny little lock to put through the zipper pulls, but it wouldn't be hard for someone to break into it, so we unloaded it each time we stopped for the night. Not a deal breaker, considering that this item is $60 and the hardshell ones are $600, but still a bit inconvienent. * Wear and Tear - After 3,000+ miles we did notice small tears starting to develop along the front edge of the carrier. It still has good life left, but if we did another big trip that'd probably be the end. Again, not bad for $60. * Car handling/gas mileage - May affect car's handling and gas mileage. When I was driving, it felt to me as though, particularly at high speeds or in high winds, the cartop carrier was affecting handling. This would be true of anything you put on top of your car, but maybe the sleeker hardtop carriers are more aerodynamic? Overall highly recommend. When this one wears out, we'll definitely get another. [...]

The fuller the better, so stuff it to its max!
Bought this for a 5,000+ mile trip out west, with about 90 hours of driving. It was strapped to the top of my 2014 Subaru Impreza and paired with a Rage Powersports ER-08208S roof cargo basket, and the two were perfect for each other. Was able to anchor it down solidly with all eight straps. It's recommended that you check your straps frequently (I believe they suggest every 50 minutes of driving, but that wasn't happening), but we found that they only loosened up slightly in one very heavy, windy rain storm. We drove through several major downpours, and nothing inside the bag was even remotely damp. It's a big wind-sail on top your vehicle, so expect to see that at the pump. My fuel costs increased about 15% because of the roof bag on open highways with 75/80 mph speed limits. Despite its size, it wasn't very noisy. I experienced less wind noise with the roof bag installed than I did just the cargo basket. Just make sure you secure the loose strap ends. If it's not full, you'll have plenty of strap left over, so tie them up. I honestly bought this thinking I would use it those 3 weeks and just toss it if it was damaged. That's a distant thought now and the roof bag didn't degrade one bit during the trip. Just a few persistent bug guts. My expectations were way exceeded for this bag and I'm very happy that I went with this instead of a hard-shell cargo pod. Just make sure you stuff as much into the bag as you can, especially in the front.

Honda Odyssey factory roof rack experience
Totally satisfied with this Keeper product after our short 200 mile trip with speeds up to 80+ mph, but mostly in the 70-75 mph range. Also, we hit a short spout of rain and all items in the bag were 100% dry! I was alittle nervous about using the bag as it was our first time and the last thing I needed was to be dealing with the wife's and kid's clothes all over the road if you know what I mean. BUT, I was absolutely pleased with the performance on this short trip. I did stop a couple of times just to check that it was secure and no worries at all! Honda Odyssey specific use: After I received the bag, I noticed it was too long front to back to fit within the confines of the 2011-2016 Odyssey factory crossbars (BTW- our van didn't come with rails or crossbars and I just installed them this week before the trip- ordered from Amazon on the cheap and literally took 2 hours to install. Very easy if you have basic tools and a hacksaw- instructions are on YouTube or Google). To solve the length problem with the crossbars so that the bag wouldn't be hanging over the bars, I simply mounted it sideways with the side showing the word "Keeper" on the passenger side. I sat it on the Sherpak Supermat also available on Amazon and the bag didn't move at all. Setting it up sideways like that will allow you to stretch/push it under the confines of the square shape where the crossbars and roof rails meet. Then you load it from the driver's side. Just open both sliding doors and you can easily load it and zip it by standing on the sides and the back bumper. I also made sure to zip it so that the zippers were meeting on the backside by the rear lift gate. Last tip- once you tighten the straps down really good, it's almost impossible to feed them back through the plastic buckles for securing so I just tied knots right under the buckle and the straps didn't move at all. You'll see what I mean when you set yours up! How much did we fit on our roof? Well factory specs for the Odyssey rack are 165 lbs limit I believe, but I didn't really weigh our stuff lol. Just kind of guesstimated the weight and would say 100-120lbs. It was 2 beach chairs, baby pop-up tent, bag with board games, bag of 8 towels, medium to large size suitcase, and about 7-8 filled duffel bags. Mostly clothing. We could've added some more clothing type items or pillows around the edges to fill the rest of the bag, but these items filled it good and left it snug when zipped. I hope this helps you out with your decision because I wasn't able to find Odyssey specific formation for this bag, but am very happy with it and received good value for the money. Updated 6/18/2016: Used the bag on the return trip going another 200 miles and still no issues. I pushed the bag and zipper to the limit stuffing it full and pulling/stretching on the bag. It will be used on future trips, but even if it only lasted 1 round trip, for the price tag, it would have been worth it. I added a picture of the gear we had stuffed in it.

Best affordable alternative to a hard top roof cover!
This worked great for a 6+ hour road trip. We encountered about an hour of very hard rain, and the bag kept our belongings completely dry. It held a lot of bags and other odd shaped items. I put a blanket down between the bag and the top of the car to avoid any scratches, but I'm not sure if would have mattered. The only thing that was a little annoying with the drive was the excess straps flapping against the car. I just didn't spend enough time tucking them away. It definitely matters how you pack the bag as to the amount of noise you hear. For the trip there I got zero road noise, but on the way back I didn't pack the same way and encountered some noise until I pulled over and reset things a little. Watch the youtube videos and reviews on how to pack it and you should have no problems. The bag was thick enough to seem pretty durable, but I wouldn't pack items with very sharp edges and try to pull the bag tight over them. Securing the bag and packing it was a bit hard by myself. I'm sure it would be easier and faster with 2 people, but it was awkward to stand on the inside of the back seat of our Pathfinder and reach around the front and back of the bag to secure the straps and zip it up. I'm 6'1", so I was able to reach, but I would imagine that shorter folks would have some problems without using a ladder. Overall the bag fit the roof well, stayed very tight and secure with the straps, and kept our belongings dry. Well worth it for the money. 5 Stars!

Great Quality Roof Bag!
I was a little bit doubtful of the quality of this item due to the price but because I'm a cheapskate I bought it anyway. My wife and I used it for our month long road trip from Alabama to Alaska to make more room in the car. First of all, this bag holds a ton of stuff and made our trip much more comfortable thanks to the extra room below. It was very easy to install between our roof racks. Most importantly and much to my surprise, it held up like a champ. We drove 6500 miles through rain, snow, high winds, hail the size of a dimes, dusty dirt roads... and we made it all the way to Alaska with all our contents perfectly dry and the bag was still in perfect condition. There are no tears, pulled seams or any sign of wear for that matter. It's dirty of course but it held up quite well. I don't normally write reviews but I figured this one deserves it. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a more expensive model.

After reading some of the bad reviews on this product
After reading some of the bad reviews on this product, I was very weary on trying this out on my trip from California to Texas. I ended up giving it a try anyway and we had our entire luggage on top of our SUV in this cargo bag. We went through some torrential rain and extremely gusty winds. When we arrived to every hotel. I checked on it just visually and it looked like it held up for the most part. Once we finally arrived to Texas and the big moment came. I climbed up and unzipped it (worrying about 4 brand new pair of shoes 2 being Jordan's) and all me and my families clothing, and to my surprise, It was all perfectly safe and DRY. If used properly it will hold up. I don't regret buying it. It was a space saver. I would definitely recommend this cargo bag to anyone traveling. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AS THEY ARE STATED. ZIPPER TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. note: I was even able to buy a lock for the zipper since we stood at several hotels. I will check if i actually got any pictures of this on top of my SUV.

It worked great for a 600 mile summer trip
I was planning a 600 mile summer round trip with the In-Laws in town which filled up our MDX with no room for luggage. Did not want to spend $800 on a hard shell and do not have any room to store it afterwards. I found this cargo bag on Amazon and ordered it. It worked great. I was able to fit two airline type carry-ons and four duffel bags, see picture. The straps worked great to secure the load, I did put down a layer of camping foam on the bottom of the bag to protect the roof for good measure. It didn't rain during the trip so I can't speak to the water resistance. After the trip the cargo bag looks as good as new, my Father-In-Law wants one now. Not sure how many trips it will last but it paid for itself already and it's nicely folded and stored in its' original box in the garage.
