This product has likely saved my entire arsenal numerous times. As any silent professional, I'm glad I will never know what may happen if it wasn't installed. Moved to a high humidity area and after numerous blogs and reviews I settled on this. I have had it installed for over 2 years now and it is still very hot and maintains a perfect environment for my safe queens. Instillation was as easy as a few screws into a central part of the safe and a drill bit through the fire box. The plug disassembles so you don't have to worry about your electrician skills once you remember this thing plugs in. Awesome product and as I said a silent professional fighting a daily battle against rust and corrosion.

My safe was getting musty smelling inside and the wood stocks on my weapons were showing white mold/mildew so I cleaned them as directed and bought this to remove the dampness inside the safe. I also moved the safe from a non-climate controlled area into the living area, which is climate controlled. I installed the Dehumidifier as directed and within a few days noted the temperature inside the safe felt warmer and the musty smell was going away. I have had this installed for over a year and there are no signs of mildew/mold on any weapons. I highly recommend this to my friends with safes or areas needing this type of dehumidifier.

Not sure where there's so much drama in some of the reviews. The one I got says, "Made in America" and does the job. Essentially what you're buying is a very small space heater to warm the air in your safe and thus dry the air. I also purchased a digital hygrometer to measure air temp and humidity. Ensure you get the length right. You probably want the biggest one your safe can hold. Also, it's AC powered so your safe must have a hole for an AC line.

I bought a GoldenRod for my 64 gun safe and it works extremely well. The temp in the safe stays about 8 degrees above ambient and humidity stays about 40%. I have no corrosion whatsoever on any of the safe's contents and it is in a garage without climate control. I'm extremely please with the product overall. One specific feature I like is the customizable cord length. My safe has a 110V outlet inside, and I cut the cord to the perfect length to make it less obtrusive and harder to snag with the butt of a weapon. Instructions were very clear for how to cut and terminate the cord. Mounting the goldenrod is also quite easy, you just screw two small brackets into the insulation in the safe and it snap in, I mounted mine horizontally directly below the door to allow the heat to rise throughout the safe. One final note is that although it doesn't get particularly hot the GoldenRod is nevertheless unpleasantly hot to the touch, so take care when working around it in the bottom of the safe.

Excellent Dehumidifier for Large Safes!!! The 36-inch model is quite long so make sure you are a large safe. I also found their "mounting" brackets - just a couple cheap plastic holders to be useless but I couldn't mount the unit on my safe floor anyways because it got in the way of the door / contents. The solultion? I have this unit hanging vertically on the inside right corner. It fits perfectly there and is easily supported by some ammo (or anything else that weighs about 5 pounds+) on the upper shelves of the safe. Before buying a 70 pint / day Dehumidifier, the unfinished basement room where my safe is located was running about 60-70% humidity during the summer and the inside of the safe was near 50% even with various rechargable units and packets. Now humidity in the safe runs steadily near 20% and never exceeds 30%. It's true that all this unit does is procude enough heat to thwart moisture, but apparently that's all it takes!! Regarding the "heat," I just make sure the rod is free standing and not touching anything. It's not going to burn your arm off but you wouldn't want to to grab it with both hands either. As long as its not directly touching your valuables or the interior of a non-metal safe you are good to go. So happy I bought this, you will be too!!! PS for those interested, the dehumidifier I bought from Amazon is the "hOmeLabs 9 Gallon (70 Pint) Dehumidifier Energy Star Safe Mid Size Portable Dehumidifiers for Basements Large Rooms up to 4000 Sq Ft with Fan Wheels and Drain Hose Outlet to Remove Odor and Allergens" - I LOVE IT!!! Had a plumber hook it up for continuous running with no emptying buckets - unit works great!

This has been in a large gun safe for a couple weeks now and I am beyond satisfied. I bought the GoldenRod on the recommendation of just about everyone I asked. I am glad I did. I bought a hygrometer/thermostat to sit in the safe to monitor temp and humidity. It has kept the interior of the safe at a constant 70 degrees and the humidity under 40%. This is perfect because the recommended levels for storing rifles is 70 degrees and under 50% humidity. I live in Ohio where the relative humidity seems to be at 99% everyday. I love the simple design and that it does what it says it will. A side-note, my father purchased the same safe as me on the same date and decided to go with a cheaper generic brand dehumidifier and has had nothing but problems and irregularity in controlling temps and humidity. Moral of the story: spend the extra cash and sleep easy knowing it will work!

I started using SensorPush Wireless Humidity & Temperature Sensors in my gun safes and it was absolutely eye opening. Over the last few weeks, I've tried multiple gun safe humidity options to see what works, and I've been seriously impressed with the results of the GoldenRod combined with Silica Gel Canisters. For my testing, I used one SensorPush sensor in the safe, and one immediately outside it so I could compare the results. (The SensorPush allows monitoring in real time as well as tracking weekly and monthly humidity and temperature graphs.) My gun safe is 6' tall x 4' wide - and the 24" GoldenRod keeps it consistently 5 degrees warmer than the air outside the safe. The humidity is roughly 7% lower than the humidity outside the safe. That's a pretty big deal! Interestingly enough, the silica gel canister has lasted more than 3 times as long with the Golden Rod than it did before - so it seems there isn't as much humidity in the safe to absorb as there was. If you're looking for a good solution for keeping humidity down in your gun safe, I would highly recommend giving one of these GoldenRods a try!

One of many devices I use to keep my refrigerator size gun safe outside in a non heated garage. If you’re interested in what I did, here is my rundown. Cold weather storage... 1. 24” goldenrod on the bottom floor of safe. 2. One Peet Dryer (small one) - second shelf. 3. Some of those rechargeable - moisture grabbing crystals. $12 My safe has 3 ac and 2 USB ports for power.... My Safe maintains a steady 66f with 45 humidity level. This is maintained when outside temperatures are 25 to 40. I have yet to experience what happens when the temperature drops to zero, but my garage will still be in the 20’s. I’m confident the safe temperature will stay between 55 - 65. I only need the dehumidifier crystals in the summer for some reason. Now that it’s cold the crystals stay blue. In the summer they go pink an 5 days. For those of you wondering about garage or basement storage, that’s my experience.

What can I say, turns on and heats up as it is suppose to do. Hot to the touch but not burning. Has clear instruction to dis-assemble and re-assemble if needed. I did not have to, because I have outlets inside my safe. Has kept my 19 cubic ft safe (in dry basement) at 55% humidity at 67 degrees since running 24/7. First day of install, safe was at 71% @ 65 degrees but the weather and basement has gotten colder, while safe has stay consistent.

I ordered the ORIGINAL Golderod in this listing with a lifetime warranty and got the new Chinese one with a one year warranty. I'mnsending it back to Amazon for replacement. Goldenrod (TM) USA was bought out by Battenfeld China. What's the difference? Godenrod (TM): lifetime warranty Battenfeld: cheaper made and only a one year warranty The Goldenrod (TM) heats to 150F, Battenfeld heats to 120F
