Perfect if you oil up your plastic fish. Read this review before filling with water!
OK so I read other reviews before I got mine about the fish sticking. Sure enough when I got mine, even before filling it with water they were all stuck together, like tightly stuck together. What I did (and it worked so do this!!) was took all the little plastic fish out first thing. I poured some olive oil on my hands and I rubbed each fish lightly through my hands and got them all a little oily. I then put all the fish back in, poured a tiny amount of vinegar in the whale then filled with water. None of my fish stick together and the water has not mucked up or molded at all. Do this before filling and it's perfect! I've taken this to restaurants with me to put on the tables in front of my baby and she loves it. Also loves it at home too. Great product at a great price, just don't forget to oil up the little toys first.

Awesome toy!
This water pad toy is really cute and awesome. Got this to help my 4 month old with tummy time since he hates it! So far so good. He’s still a little young but if I get his attention towards the toy he will stare at the little floating sea creatures inside. I did put 1/4 white vinegar inside to keep it from molding BUT I plan on cleaning it every week. The creatures inside are stuck together and I tried to shake the water inside hard but it only shook one thing loose. I did Have to take them out to unstick them But I plan on taking them all out and laying them flat to straighten them out since they are folded up. Other then that this toy is great! Small too so it’s not so bulky and can easily fit on top a high chair! Overall I will definitely buy this again if for any reason my other older kids break it.

Good sensory toy
Great toy for tummy time and to amuse kids exercising their motor skills. As other reviewers commented, if you put in water and vinegar then this should not mildew. I've had this for several months and checked it yesterday with no foul odors coming out so it works. The valve is thick and must be pushed down on all sides in order to ensure that it won't leak. It has stood up to being dropped on the floor, rolled over, slapped and smacked as well (babies are very hands on and gentle is not really their forte). The plastic characters arrived folded in half, so I had to take each one out, unfold them and then re-insert them back into the mat. It took a bit of time, but once I did that they have stayed flat inside the mat. The valve is also big enough for you to put in other sensory toys (i.e. water beads, marbles, etc).

Why the negative reviews?
This play water mat is fantastic! I am not sure why there were so many negative reviews. The mat that I purchased did not leak and the fish/starfish/octopus/etc never got stuck together. I put in water and a little bit of distilled vinegar when it was delivered and I have not had to refill it or let out the water in over 3 months. There is no mold or anything growing inside. My daughter is almost eight months and so she sits up and it is not as useful with tummy time since it is small but she loves it still and smacks it without any leakage.

Going strong 6 months later!!
My son loves loves loves this - he stands on it, chews on it, chucks it out of the pack and play, etc., the cat tries to play with it (no claws, but does chew on it) and it lives on!! Super fun for the price!!! I did use a small part vinegar and no molding funny smells - and hey, I definitely did not clean this every use... just sayin...

Add vinegar- it's fabulous!
This toy is wonderful. -Fill with a 1/4 cup of vinegar before filling with water. The image attached is my toy with 3 month old water in it. Still fresh looking. -Fill it like a bag. Some reviews have complained that it's hard to fill. That's ridiculous. The opening is about the size of a sink faucet- but you can't fill it flat. Hold it from the fill spout and the top of the whale to fill. You might not even spill a drop. -As you can see my characters do not stick together and I did not oil them. I didn't notice sticking before filling with water, but if they had, I would have just filled with water and shook the pillow vigorously. I don't recommend pulling them out and coating them in oil like some do because it really doesn't appear to be an issue once the pillow is filled. An oil coat might keep them from drifting too close together but that sounds like a 20 min process since those things aren't going to come out of the fill hole easily. Filling this sucker with vinegar and water takes about 2 mins. Overall, we love this. My baby loves it, it doesn't leak and it seems durable for what it is. My husband and mom did think it was leaking a couple of times but it was just baby drool.

Use DISTILLED water, oil and vinegar/vodka amd it will preform beautifully
Followed another users instructions to rub olive oil on the animals and add a splash of vinegar to the water. We have had it filled for a few weeks now with no issues. We really love the fact that it is low profile and a high tactile toy. It is perfect for tummy time fun! UPDATE: After about 3 weeks the water did start to mold. So I cleaned it out with apple cider vinegar and refilled with DISTILLED water and some VODKA AND VINEGAR. This time around I used coconut oil and the animals are sticking together which they didnt do with the olive oil. We will see if the distilled water keeps it from molding

Cute, simple toy. Great for Tummy Time!
I purchased this for my two month old. The box says that is for three months and older, and I definitely agree with that. I jumped the gun a little bit on buying this for my two month old as she is still developing her arm, shoulder and neck muscles. However, I can totally see in four weeks how this will be an awesome toy for her to play with during tummy time. It allows the baby to press and squish the little fish inside the water bubble and see them move. It's also very colorful and I can see this entertaining my daughter and keeping her attention during tummy time. I posted pictures for you to see with a ruler… So you can visualize it's exact size. I also posted a picture with my daughter playing with it. In one of the pictures, you will see that it gives you a fill line… I thought that this was extremely helpful when filling the bubble with water. Overall, this is a really cute toy and will be perfect for tummy time. I agree that you should purchase this for 3 months +. You will get the most use out of this during the tummy time months! * if you found my review helpful, please click "helpful" ... Thanks :-)

Try this size before going bigger!
Bought for my 9 month old. She loves the backside of it and doesn't play too much with the front side. She likes to grasp/put in her mouth the parts where you insert the water/air (the main part you fill with water and the outer part you will with air). For less than $10 it was worth it to see if she liked that type of toy - and she does - just not the way I imagined. I did get the biggest/longest laughing session out of her though when she watched me blow air in it...that in itself was worth it. Maybe if I got it for her at a younger age she would interact with the front more, who knows. I love that it's a different kind of toy though. Regardless - it gives her some variety.

Let's go fishing!
I was skeptical at first when I read some of the reviews, but our grandson loves this little mat. It is small, but for a 6 month old, it's just the right size! I followed the instructions from one of the reviews so that the fish would not stick together. Remove them before you fill with water, and put olive oil on them, then add a little vinegar along with the water, and it worked perfectly! I don't know if he thinks he's "kissing" the fish, or just likes the feel of the "waves", but he would play with this all day if we let him! I like that it is BPA free too. Have not had any leaks, nor has it lost any air in the blow up parts. Worth every penny!
