Great grass seed, began growing within 2 days!

Works very well, but its not magic.

I have put this down for the last two years and I waited a long time before I wrote a review. This works very well, but you need to manage your expectations. Here is how I used it Year 1 Fall - pulled crabgrass by hand overseaded in the fall. I had a lot of crabgrass Year 2 Spring - used this product on the grass in March Year 2 Fall - pulled crabgrass and overseaded Year 3 Spring - Applied this product the last weekend in February. (We had a very warm winter this fall and after two weeks of 80 degree weather in February I applied this product) year 3 Late summer - current time. Some general comments 1. If your yard is all crab grass this will not magically solve your issues. You still would need to pull the crabgrass and oversead in the fall. 2. After the first year, during year 2 summer according to the timeline, I saw a 50% reduction in crabgrass. 3. Today, year 3, I have less then 10% of the crabgrass I had when I started In fact the only place I have significant crab grass is where I put in new fill dirt and the edges of my property. So again this product works, and I will be applying it next year.

But make sure to follow the directions and find out the best times to plan new seeds in your area This helped our new grass and seed grow quickly and strong while preventing weeds from taking over! Includes and contains Tenacity Herbicide – Mesotrione In newly germinated weeds, Tenacity is absorbed through roots and shoots and the plants fail to develop or die shortly thereafter (killing the weeds). Golf course grasses like Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass and fescue are able to tolerate Tenacity by rapidly breaking down Mesotrione into inactive compounds so that it does not damage or hurt the grass but only the weeds that are susceptible.

Really thickened the grass plot

I seeded my lawn last fall and it was patchy come spring. So I seeded again with this fertilizer and to be honest I wish I just used the fertilizer. I’m not sure if the new seed made much of an impact but it seemed like the grass that was there spread like crazy really fast. Good product!

Great Stuff but price went way up on Amazon

Great value originally at $49.99 but they raised the price to $64.00. No longer competitive with local big box stores. Great product, though. Have used it for years even for established lawns. 24-25-4 fertilizer ratio provides the nutrients for developing and established lawns for strong root maintenance.

This fertilizer can be difficult to find and it is the only one I know around that provides starter fertilizer AND crabgrass preventer in one. It is pricey but covers a lot of ground and to not have to pay shipping for a bag of this weight is impressive.

It did a great job

Our yard is about 2400 sq yard ft. It had grown patches of wire-grass. So we killed the old grass in August and had to reseed it. I am glad we used the Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Food - Starter Food for New Grass. It worked great. We tilled the ground, leveled it, spread the seed and the lawn food with a seed spreader. Watered it regularly for twenty minutes each day. The grass started to show up after ten days. It has been four weeks now, and the yard is well covered. We mowed the lawn yesterday for the first time. I am going to spread another round of lawn food next week and hope to see a better result next spring. I would recommend this product in full faith.

Violets B-Gone!

This stuff is great! In addition to all the other weeds it is annihilating, what most impresses is that it is also getting rid of the violets-they are so hard to kill. I will have to throw out more grass seed to fill the former violet patches!

Plug aerate, reseed, then apply...it works excellently!

Every year my husband and I plug aerate our lawns, recede and need to provide some type of fertilizer that won’t ruin the new grass seed. This is a great product and has given us an excellent lawn. While our lawn is only three years old it has made dramatic changes over the past three years with the addition of the starter fertilizer which we use every spring after reseeding. First bag that we ordered unfortunately was handled roughly by shipping by the Postal Service. We were notified the bag was ruined and that it was being returned to Amazon. I didn’t even need to notify Amazon, as they immediately emailed me to notify me that they were replacing the ruined bag. Great job Amazon! I will be ordering again!
