First off I am a retired IT Manager and the hub was purchased to use on the MacBook OS10.13 that we are now using as a print server in our home office. I needed a hub that I could plug the Trackball and three printers into while still having a few ports for thumb drives. Ok This hub works perfectly right out of the box. Plug the power supply into the UPS the MacBook is plugged into and plug the power supply into the hub. Connect the supplied USB cable into the MacBook then the hub and its done. All that is left to do is plug all the other things in. In our case a Trackball, Minolta Magicolor Printer, a Brother monochrome printer and a Canon inkjet printer/scanner. All done and everything works perfectly. I had noticed that some people complained that the hub moves around when plugging in anything. Point all USB devices have tight fitting connectors, that makes for a good connection at 2.0 or better speeds. The weight of the power cable and the three printer cables and trackball cable do tend to pull the hub toward the back of the desk. My simple solution is to use a glob of Museum Wax (available from Amazon) to hold the hub in place. Museum Wax is an archival quality product that will not damage anything. We have used it for over fifteen years to hold everything from diecast cars (keeps them from rolling around in the display case and does not react to either the paper liner on the bottom of the case or the cars tires) Small scale figures in the above cases or dioramas to action figures and Barbie dolls in dioramas. Museums use it to hold priceless items such as vases, paintings etc from getting knocked around. I wanted to make sure whatever I used to hold the hub in place did not damage the high polish finish on the desk this computer sits on in our home office. My wife made it from a hard to get packing crate from Lang. The hub stays in place nicely. As the review is titled Simple and it works.

The hub is actually on the computer that I am using to define the review. First of all it is Great to have all of the available USB Ports as well as the charging ports on this hub. I like the fact that it stands up, and it's footprint is small. It has an oblong base as shown in the picture and really stands there well. I like this better than the conventional lay-down models you usually see. I didn't really have enough desk space for one of those long lean lay down units. I had no connection problems as everything that I have plugged in as peripherals were found immediately and drivers loaded in windows 10. My cell phone plugs into this hub nightly for it's charge up. So now I have an extra dedicated power charging port and some spare usuable ports for USB devices.

I bought one of these to expand a computer that was short on ports. I now have a few of these around because it's just so easy to use. It's like having unlimited ports. I use this for industrial devices so I can talk to each one when I need to without unplugging any of them. Plenty of power I've never had anything fail or disconnect. Amazon Basic products always perform reliably.

I love Amazon Basics products. I've not been disappointed in one yet and this is no exception. This little thing feels like a plastic toy when you open it up, but it's actually a pretty solid device. It's small and tucks behind my mac almost out of sight, although it comes with a little stand and isn't an eyesore at all except for all the cables coming out of it. If anything, I kind of wish the bulk of ports was on the front rather than the back. It has 2 USB ports in front and 5 in the back. I tend to plug them into whichever side I want to direct my cord. But do find myself mildly frustrated with plugging and unplugging things from the back. On one hand, it weighs almost nothing so it's easy to just pick it up. But on the other, you can't just reach around and unplug with one hand. You have to hold onto the whole thing and pull them apart. It does charge, but I've only used it to charge small stuff. I won't plug my portable hard drives or speakers or anything into it. Really just my keyboard and trackpad and occasionally my phone. So far so good! Amazon Basics wins again!

First off, the included stand sucks. No resistance to prevent being drug off the desk. Second, it is very lightweight. Which makes it difficult to keep on the desk. Third, the included USB cable is too short for any practical office use. Would be fine for travel use, but rubbish for the office. All that aside, for the price and features, it earns all five stars. Can be bus powered or powered separately. Seven ports, five around back, two on the front. If I firmly mounted this to my desk, the front ports would be wonderful for use with flash drives. It is small, so it wouldn’t take much space on the desktop or in a laptop bag. The LED isn’t blindingly bright, but just bright enough. Works better than my older Belkin hub. I, however would recommend purchasing only for travel use.

This thing is tiny....but it works well. The power adapter is bigger than the unit. It comes with a small base, you can have it sitting vertical or horizontal. My kids love it as they suffer from two usual problems, near dead phones and missing usb wall plugs. Before getting the USB hub I think my kids were doomed to find other things to do than play on their phones, like talk or discover books. Now they need none of that 90s stuff and can continue consuming cat videos and YouTube. Thank you Amazon

I really love this thing. Pros and cons first. Pros 1. 7 extra slots. 2. AC powered means you can put more power hungry stuff in here. 3. it's deceptively small. Fits in the palm of your hand. 4. Has both a horizontal and vertical position so I can change it to fit where it needs to. 5. Works with all of my USB devices so far (mouse, keyboard, USB mic, laptop speakers, external hard drive) 6. It looks nice (see cons for more details) Cons 1. It has no weight so if the USB cables are a little heavy it'll make the hub slide around and potentially pull it off the desk. You'll need to manage the cables before using because the cables will drag this thing off a desk. 2. The 2 "high powered" USB slots are on the front with 5 "normal" USB slots on the back. I don't mind this because I only need the powered ones for one or two devices, but it would've been nice to have the power on all 7 of them. 3. It's very light. It looks nice but it does look and feel like it's made with relatively cheap plastic. Of course, I won't be handling or looking at this thing all that often so no stars off. All in all I would recommend it to someone who needs something like this. Especially for people who have something like Netbooks or laptops that have like only 1-2 USB connections. For me, I use my laptop as a desktop and I have a lot of peripheral devices. So having something like this to handle my keyboard, mouse, the power cable on my speakers (usb power, 3.5mm connector), and other stuff I have plugged in 24/7 frees up the slots for temporary uses like a flash drive. I was quite tired of unplugging my speakers so I could use my thumb drive. Also, for those who were wondering, all the usb slots on my laptop are usb 3.0. So this thing does work on a USB 3.0 slot. It doesn't get USB 3.0 speeds (obviously) but I'm still quite happy with it.

USB 2.x 7-port hub. Very small! The AC adapter is larger than the hub itself. Cheap feeling plastic and not a real robust build feel overall HOWEVER everything went together fine and everything I have connected powered right up (Mac OS 10.6.8). I don't need USB 3.x, 2.x is fine with me. I've got my boot SDD and two HDDs connected along with the usual array of USB devices. So far, so good.

I had tried a few different USB hubs even another powered one. I run a mouse, keyboard, controllers and headset all off it and with the others even though had enough slots to support all those items they wouldnt all work i had to pick and choose. With this i can leave them all plugged in and not have to worry about it. best part is it is a lot smaller then i though so it doesnt take up a lot of space and has a nice look to it.

Ordered this 7 port USB 2.0 hub for use with the Raspberry Pi model B. With 4A this device not only provides a USB hub to the PI but also enough USB power to run it. The device can run the PI, charge a smartphone and connect many devices without trouble. It's not in the description, and hard to imagine from the picture, but the stand can be mounted to the bottom or the side opposite the logo providing vertical and horizontal orientations.
