Very cute latch hook
Cute little latch hook. Hoping to make it into a little pillow for a friend who loves birds (if I can figure out how lol, I'm not great at sewing). The yarn was decent quality and didn't constantly fray like other latch hooks I've tried, and the pattern was easy to follow and the yarn colors fairly easy to distinguish. Remember if you have issues figuring out which color is which, make sure to look at the number of pieces of yarn there are supposed to be in each color. That usually helps a lot. Also, since this is a common complaint even though the description already states this, this does not come with the latch hook tool. You will need to buy one if you're new to latch hooking and don't already have one. All and all I enjoyed working on this and it is a good one for beginners. I'm really happy with the finished project, it is very cute.

Love doing these
I wouldn't suggest this design for beginners but definitely recommend it for anyone looking for something new or a challenge.

Picture not printed on screen
Just what latch hook should be but note, it does not have the picture printed on the screen and the hook is not included. Otherwise it is very good product.

Love it!
I'm big on arts and crafts. I started knitting, crocheting, adult coloring etc. This is so much fun. It's relaxing. Took me a bit to figure it out. YouTube videos didn't have a close up I could see to figure out how it was done. I failed several times but finally figured out how to use the latch hook. Btw IT DOES NOT COME WITH A LATCH HOOK when though it says kit and you think everything you'd need is in there, it's not. Got mine at walmart for under $2. I'll definitely do more but now I'm on to "diamond painting".

Easy Does It!
This particular latch hook is very nice. Excellent quality. Very easy to understand instructions. In the past, I tried to follow the color stamped kits but got lost. This Latch Hook has a blue lined grid on a white background, and it's so easy to count the spaces. No chance you can mess this up. As I'm a fairly new beginner, this pattern is the easiest I could find. I'm doing it as a 12"x12" pillow and buying 3 more for my girls. It makes a lovely lasting gift with a great message.

Very doable for an 8-yr-old
I bought this latch hook project for my 8-yr-old daughter. The canvas is not stamped, but there are 10x10 gridlines. I know a lot of people are complaining about the design not being stamped on the canvas, but here's the thing: my daughter started out on a different kit that WAS stamped, but the colors and pattern on the canvas didn't always match up with the colors on the printed pattern, so having it stamped ended up being more confusing. I told her to just ignore the colors on the canvas and go by the pattern on the instruction sheet, and she found that to be much easier and more straightforward. Now that she's working on this unicorn kit, she's having no trouble at all working on a blank canvas. In fact, she has said that it's easier to work on because there are no colors on the canvas to trip her up. She started at the bottom left corner, as indicated in the instructions, and just goes across, row by row, coloring in the boxes she's completed with a marker as she goes along. I think this is a great precursor to counted cross stitch, which she eventually wants to learn how to do. As many others have noted, this kit does not come with the latch hook tool, so be sure to order a few (I say a few in case one gets misplaced). You'd think that something called a "kit" would have all the tools you need to complete it, but I think it makes sense that the hook isn't included. If you were to buy several of these kits over time, and they each came with the latch hook, you'd eventually end up with a drawer full of latch hooks. I'd rather buy a few than have a bunch that I don't need. The pattern and colors are very pretty. My only gripe is that two of the blues -- sky blue and dusty blue -- are so similar that you really have to look hard to tell them apart. They should have chosen more contrasting colors for those two blues. We pulled out all of the sky blues and put them in a ziploc baggie at the start of the project so that my daughter wouldn't have to stop and figure out which blue was which every time she pulled out a strand to use. Aside from that, though, this is a great project that will provide many hours of latch hooking happiness.

Happy granddaughter.
My granddaughter (11) got to work on this right after she opened it. The backing mesh is quite stiff and that makes it a bit harder for her small hands to work the hook, but she's getting it. It's a bit stiff for my liking also. I have other rugs I've latched and the mesh was much more pliable on those. So don't think all latch hook kits are this rough if this is your first. She really likes the cupcake and the idea of making a pillow of it. She's happy, I'm happy.

To hard for little hands
Thought this would be something my granddaughter could do, she loves crafts. But way to hard for her. I did it for her and she is love it.
