I travel over a 100,000 miles a year and my bags take a lot of abuse. I needed a slick bag with more structure to replace a Swiss army workhorse bag I had that lasted 8 years but one that looked better. This fits the bill. The front flap has a small pocket which I slip my passport into it. Inside the flap is great organization for pens, business cards, etc. The main compartment holds my Bose noise cancelling headphones in their case along with notes books and other items. The laptop compartment does a good job of Protecting your laptop. There is a small pocket accessible from the top that I throw a small notebook into for quick access. Lastly the pocket on bottom is roomy enough to hold my laptop charger, a two USB charger, an international adapter, a small travel 3 outlet surge protector and a small hard shell case i keep various things in. If you don't carry as much gear, consider the jr. version which a well travelled colleague got and loves as well. I just wish the eBags logo wasn't so prominent on the outside. eBags is a cheesy name and I prefer things without logos.

I have been using a laptop backpack from Case Logic for the past six years. However, I recently purchased a 15.6-inch laptop. Getting it to fit was like trying to fit into a shoe that was two sizes too small. Throw in the power brick, a computer mouse, and whatever else I need whenever I am out and about and I had a camel hump that was a pain to take on public transportation and did not leave me feeling particularly confident about the protection of my equipment. Nevertheless, the bag was still in fantastic condition and technically usable. As such, when Amazon suggested this product to me, I was more torn than most people on whether it would be a worthwhile purchase – especially considering the rather steep price. Although I have used it for only a week now, I have to say that I feel like it was an excellent investment. PROS - Excellent build quality - Thoughtful design - Sleek appearance The first thing I noticed when I saw the backpack was how sturdy it looked. Unlike most backpacks, this one will stand up on its own rather than slump over when placed on the ground. This is due to the hard plastic case at the bottom of the bag – accessible from its front – where one can store a laptop’s power brick separately from everything else. The zipper quality was similarly impressive. When doing and undoing the zipper, it has a solid, deep sound that one can be assured will never tear or open accidentally as you walk down the street. The material feels robust and resistant to tears or scuffs. The backpack also has a Teflon coat, which makes it fine for brief walks through light rain. As I opened the various compartments, I also appreciated the bag’s design. The laptop and document compartments use L-shaped zippers that go from the top and zip all the way down to the bottom of the right side. This makes putting in and removing laptops, papers, and whatnot much easier. I no longer have to worry about scraping the cover of my laptop against a metal zipper or accidentally crumpling documents. If I need extra space to do so, I can just spread the section a little more. The tablet compartment is also an excellent addition, just big enough to hold comfortably my Surface 2 tablet. I am pleased that they did not limit this pocket to hold just iPads. The laptop pocket comes with removable padding at the bottom to protect the bag from modest drops. I feel like it could hold a 17-inch laptop without problems, though I have not tried this. There was no neglect of the front pockets. The main front pocket has spaces for all my pens, pencils, and highlighters as well as smaller netted pockets for the other things I usually use like gum, a calculator, and cough drops. The frontmost pocket is great for holding thin documents, such as passports or tickets. The bottommost compartment has a hard plastic shell that is meant for power bricks or other more delicate, if somewhat small, electronics that need extra care like computer mice. There is also a side pocket for beverages, which can be zipped up when not in use, but I will comment on that later. I also appreciate the bright orange material used to line the interior pockets. The contrast with the black makes it easy to find what one needs, especially in low light and with small objects like flash drives. It is a subtle feature, but I never realized how much time I spent looking for my flash drive in my old backpack with a black interior until I pulled it out of this bag with barely a glance. The bag also has slits on the back behind the padding to allow it to slide down the handle of a suitcase. This is excellent if you are traveling on a plane, though I doubt that I will use this particular feature at all. As a side note, I typically use the document pocket – with the hard case as its base – to hold a large metal thermos of coffee and my small lunch. It does so comfortably and with minimal crushing of my food, which was a big annoyance with my previous backpack. That should also give you a sense of how large it can be if you need it to hold textbooks or an armful of folders. Though I generally prefer function to form, the bag’s design is sleek. It feels like something that belongs in an office; it would not look out of place next to a briefcase at a meeting. The branding is minimal and subtle, with no dramatic coloring to attract attention to the manufacturer. The bag can grow to be about as big as you need it to be, but it can also be surprisingly slim. You probably will still feel the jostling of others on a crowded subway car, but it will fit comfortably on your lap if you manage to find a seat. When you need to make your way to the subway doors to get off, you can throw it on your shoulder or use one of the straps on the bag’s top or side to hold it in your hand and make a beeline. CONS - Beverage holder could be improved One thing that disappoints me is the lone side pocket. It zips away when not in use to make the bag more streamline, but I feel like it was a somewhat neglected feature. The netting and elastic is adequate for a can of soda or typical-sized bottle of water, but I would have hesitations about putting anything taller or heavier in there. Personally, I always use the side pocket to hold an umbrella. It puts the umbrella within easy reach and keeps it away from everything else when it gets wet. However, the size of the pocket makes me concerned about my umbrella falling out. If the pocket were just a bit taller, I would have no problem keeping my umbrella in there. As it is now, though, I guess I will have to keep it somewhere else. Someone else’s experience with this pocket may differ. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS - Weight - Price I know it is impossible to have a backpack that is both sturdy and light as a dust mote, but I think weight is something people should keep in mind. Although the backpack straps are well made and distribute the bag’s weight effectively, the bag definitely has a certain degree of heft even when somewhat empty. Adding a laptop and the usual accessories is bearable, but I would be somewhat wary of loading it up with everything in and on your office desk and then walking across town. A bag of this quality – and at this price – is definitely an investment one should make only if the bag will be often used or hold especially delicate or expensive electronics. I think it might be overkill for the rare meeting a few blocks away or for the K-12 student who carries little more than loose-leaf paper and pencils. Even I feel like the bag is a little on the pricey side, despite almost daily need for a backpack. Still, I do not quite think that this is something that should count against the product. It is great - for the right audience. Overall, I would recommend the bag to anyone who wants a sturdy, thoughtfully designed, and aesthetically pleasing backpack to carry things safely and conveniently in an office or college setting. I am sure that this bag will see even more use than my previous backpack from Case Logic and last just as long. I will update my review if anything changes or if I can think of any other comments. UPDATE – 6/24/15 I took this bag with me on a trip to Hawaii from the East Coast. It carried my laptop, Surface 2, computer and phone chargers, and a wireless mouse without any problems. I moved through security like a breeze thanks to the generous pockets and never once felt concerned about damaging my electronics. I am somewhat disappointed that the paint on the zipper pulls chipped while keeping it under the seat, but this is a minor complaint. A few days ago, I also walked through a ferocious downpour on my way home. I thought my umbrella kept most of it away, but it turned out that the outermost portion of the bag was unprotected. I assumed that it had completely soaked through the pockets, but the bag actually kept most of it away. It was damp, sure, but otherwise fine. I think I might give the bag a coating of Scotchgard just to be safe, but this bag can handle more than a light sprinkle. UPDATE – 10/28/15 I recently upgraded my Surface 2 to the Surface Pro 4 and it no longer fits in the tablet pocket. I have to keep it in the laptop compartment, but it does not change my opinion of the bag. I just wanted to give readers some perspective as to how big of a tablet or notebook they could keep in the tablet compartment. Bag is still holding up well! UPDATE - 6/3/17 I am happy to report that I am still using the bag and it is holding up very well. No scuffs, tears, or loose seams!

The backpack it is just as described big enought so the basic daily used items fit and small enough that make it comfortable for daily use, very comfortable, looks and feel very solid and one of the main reasons I purchase it is that looks more professional. For subway use the option to storage the straps and the 2 handles (one on top and one on the side) make it great for those times where having it in your back is not an option. Water storage on the side works for this too. As an IT professional the Adapter storage is a godsend, I tend to have more cables and adapters than most people and this feature make it easier to carry them. Also if you are like me, I tend to have loose tools that could damage the backpack but with this since is hard plastic I don't have to worry about it. Overall the backpack is just like described and very good quality, I am yet to try traveling with it but I see how it can be great for it. I tend to be skeptical of sales brands turned into product manufacturing too and I was not too crazy about getting this but the reviews from multiple sites convinced me and it did not disappoint.

A little bit of what I was looking for in a new bag: I mostly wanted something that looked more professional for a reasonable price, without all of the extra dangly bits that hang everywhere. Not looking like I was off to my first day of 5th grade was also a plus, nor looking like I was off on a weeklong camping expedition. I tried to find something in physical stores but my choices were either cheap $30-50 bags or heavy duty camping style bags for $300+. I am a full time college student and work long overnight shifts, so I wanted something good for classes as well as flexible for packing a small bag of toiletries/change of clothes for work. I watched a lot of videos on this bag even though I was apprehensive about buying something like this online without being able to see it in person first. Holds a little less than my old backpack, but holy heck is it well designed. Everything is kept super organized. Typically fits my 13" MacBook Pro in the laptop compartment, my Kindle in the tablet sleeve, a writing pad+ 2-3 notebooks, assorted writing utensils, over ear headphones, lots of little gadgets, and my nest of charging cables for all of my gadgets. If I eliminate the notebooks it'll also accommodate a couple small packing cubes for a change of clothes/toiletries. While the useable space is a tad less than a bag of comparable size, everything is well organized and gone are the days of losing an eraser or small dongle in the abyss in the bottom of the bag underneath everything. Also gone are the dust, debris and crumbs that accumulate in the bottom. The padded AC adapter is a nice addition to store your chargers/battery pack. I had hoped it would accommodate my mid sized DSLR/lens but its a tad too small. If you have a smaller mirrorless camera it may be snug but might work for you. The build quality is great, the nylon is heavy and all the stitching feels very sturdy. The zippers feel great. It does not bother me but the metal zipper pulls can be a bit noisy, would have been nice to have rubber coating to eliminate some of the jangle. Easy fix yourself by replacing the pulls or covering with black tape, but it feels silly to have to do that for a $200 bag (I got it on sale for $100). Overall great but wouldn't have minded a bit more space. Might have gone for the larger "Weekender" style if I had to do it again but otherwise no regrets.

I am a road warrior and travel 30 weeks or so a year. I am constantly looking for the right bags to take with me. This bag is my new favorite. For full disclosure, I have owned this bag only a couple of weeks and gave it its first real trial this past week. 4 planes, 3 cities and 3 hotels. It holds a surprisingly large amount of stuff. The bag I used prior to this was the ClaireChase Executive Briefcase X-wide which was also very good. The ClaireChase was just BIG. I could carry everything but it was like I had a couch with me where ever I went. So, I tried the eBags TLS Pro Slim. Got it in the gray (very professional looking). Started moving stuff from the ClaireChase and worried what I was going to have to leave behind. Short answer - nothing. I fit EVERYTHING into this bag that is 2/3 the dimensions. It is just that well organized with intelligent slots, pockets and zippered closures. I LOVE the adapter garage that allows me to FINALLY organize my cables and such. Why has no one else thought of this? Finally, a bag that I can LOCK in case I need to. Again, why has no one else thought that important? Okay, in the bag goes: Work Laptop (MacBook Pro) Personal Laptop (MacBook Air) Tablet (Galaxy Tab S 8.4) - which now has it's own VERY accessible pocket. Pens, and notebooks (I usually carry two or three notebooks with me for customer notes) extra batteries and power battery for various devices all the rest of the stuff you carry - business cards, mints, hand sanitizer, etc Power cables for everything in the adapter garage Sunglasses in case. Etc. Oh, and the Napoleon pocket in front. I don't know why so many briefcase manufacturers forget this pocket but ebags didn't. This is the pocket in the front of the briefcase for your RECEIPTS to make them easy to find when you do your expense reports. That's the thing here. Not only does it carry everything but everything is organized and easy to find. On a long plane ride home this week, I was able to find everything easily by touch in the dark. At the gates, everything I needed was in the front "2d" pocket - okay, that is a really bizarre name, but everything was right there. all the stuff I needed at my fingertips for a long wait. I traveled with some prospects and they called it the magic briefcase because I was able to pull anything needed from it and so quickly it seemed like a trick. So, in summary, a thin briefcase backpack that looks really professional (in those VERY professional settings, you can tuck the shoulder straps into the slots for attaching to luggage and use one of the two handles to carry it like a briefcase) and holds EVERYTHING but in a much easier to access way. Getting set up in a hotel room's desk area has never been faster. Just amazing how much everything seems to work better. Cons: It can get heavy quickly - you forget how much is in it until you pick it up and realize you have your life in there. The water bottle holder is useless. I actually use it to zip in a pack of Altoids and a package of wisp toothbrush things because it really can't hold a bottle of water. The netting part is just too short. The sternum strap needs to go lower. If eBags would make this in leather or leather look material, it would be PERFECT. Hear me, eBags? Leather, please!!! UPDATE: Now that I have owned this bag for 18 months, I can give a bit more of a review. Bag has held up WONDERFULLY on a constant travel schedule and still looks great. I had a flight attendant on my way home yesterday compliment me on how nice the bag looked and where could she get one. I have found that a thinner Starbucks reusable coffee cup does fit fine in the outside compartment. Still loving it. Still using it daily. Great bag.

My laptop backpack search started about 2 weeks ago when I discovered that my old pack was starting to tear in a few places after years of use. As a 30 year old "young professional", I needed something that was sleek and business like in appearance, but a typical single strap laptop bag has never been to my liking. After a fair amount of research, I ordered the TLS and it arrived via Prime in 2 days as expected. For my personal needs, the pack is absolutely perfect. The video on eBags does a very nice job explaining all of the features of the pack and when it arrived there were no surprises. I decided to go with the gray color, black seemed just a bit too plain for my taste. I will try to follow up with some photos of the gray since they seem to be quite hard to come by. I will say that the color was perfect for what I had in mind. Too light of a gray would have ended up looking like a stone washed gray from the 80s and too dark would not have been enough of a difference from the black. The color strikes a nice compromise between the two and it looks very professional. One note I will add about functionality as it pertains to the zippered tablet compartment. One review I read on Amazon stated that a customer who purchased this pack found the zippered opening to be a bit too small to easily fit their iPad in its case. I have the iPad air (same size as the Air 2 if I recall correctly) in a Zagg Folio case and there is more than enough room to easily drop the iPad in and retrieve it comfortably. It is possible that the other user had a bigger case I suppose? The new iPad pro would more than likely have a tough time fitting into the opening, however. If anyone needs, I can take a measurement to see how wide and deep the opening is exactly. Quality and craftsmanship are excellent. I looked over the pack when it arrived and the materials used, as well as the stitching to holding everything together, was what you would expect for a $90 backpack (and I mean that in a good way). In fact, I would argue that the quality is on par with some packs that are twice the price. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and, as long as the quality proves itself to be as good as it looks in the coming months and years, I would not hesitate to purchase another TLS in the future.

This is a really great backpack. If you don't want to read a long review, that is all you need to know. This might be a little weird to admit, but I really like "Things that hold things," Cases, boxes, bags, backpacks, etc. I am very happy to say that this might be my favorite day backpack that I have ever owned. It is impeccably well designed. It is good looking yet subtle, and you can tell that someone (or a group of people) really put effort in to thinking about how people would use the bag. I've been lusting after this bag for a while now. Ever since I purchased my eBags Mother Lode Mini 21" Suitcase. I really dig that suitcase, and this backpack sat in my wish list for months. I finally purchased it on sale on prime day, but after having it for a couple weeks I realize that I should have just purchased it when I wanted it. This thing great. This is a list of most of the things that I like about this bag: - The overall design aesthetic. It's not flashy, but looks good. It could very easily be something carried by a professional or by a student. I do travel a lot. In my line of work, I don't need to dress in a suit and tie every day, but this bag looks right with that too. I also really like that the inside of the bag is orange. I cant really explain it, but lots of the stuff that I own, bags, computer cases, electronics, etc, are completely black and like it that way. Having the inside of this bag be orange feels slightly "Rebellious". I've actually had people comment about it. - The many different storage pockets. They vary in shapes, sizes, construction, and location on either the inside or outside of the bag. I seriously feel that I can do anything with these pockets. Everything that has a pocket needs one. - The little bottom cubby/compartment. This thing... I thought it would be the gimmick of the bag when I ordered it, but man is it great. I use it to store all or most of the wires I take with me. It varies, but I've loaded up this cubby with a 45w Macbook charger, an 85w macbook charger, a phone charger, a tablet charger, and a couple other USB cables. It's awesome that I can remove the hard case and have all my cables in one container. If I need more space in the physical bag, the hard case can be removed and it's "cavity" just disappears. How cool is that? - How much room there is. My previous go to bag was almost 1800 cubic inches, huge, and most of that was just one large cavity, like a small hiking bag. I could live out of that bag for 5 days easy if I really had to. I was worried that with this bag I would struggle to adjust to the smaller bag. So far, though, this hasn't been a problem. I use this bag for two purposes. Just regular days in my city, and travel. For a regular day, I have my 11" Macbook Air plus a graphed legal pad in the back pocket. A lunch in my eBags Slim lunch box in the main compartment, plus gym clothes. In the front pocket I have a power bank, a computer mouse, pens, a USB hub, and more. In the front pocket with the vertical zipper I keep a micro toiletry kit. When I travel fully loaded, I carry my 11" Macbook air, my 15" Macbook Pro retina, my 9.7" iPad, all of the chargers for those things, plus the same legal pad, at least one change of clothes in the backpack, a portable speaker, plus all the small stuff that I carry in the city too. This bag handles all of that no problem. Impressive. - The water bottle holder is not large enough to fit my 40oz hydroflask, but that is fine because I never carry that in a bag anyway, and it is too big for all but hiking backpacks. That is okay, though, because that pocket is perfect for my sunglasses case and a small thing of hand sanitizer. - I love that the backpack straps can be tucked away and the bag can be carried like a briefcase with a handle on the side. Sometimes I don't want a backpack, and this solves that problem. - Similarly, I love how all the straps, pockets, and features can be stashed away and hidden to keep them from flapping around and getting in the way. Don't need the water bottle pouch? Zip it up and it's gone. Don't want straps? they have a spot to tuck in to. The two grab handles (one on top and one on the side) recess flat against the sides of the bag when not in use. No faffing around with annoying straps while you're running through the airport trying to catch a flight. - This bag just feels *solid.* I really try not to beat hard on my stuff, but I do use it constantly. After two years of front line service, my previous bag (a Griffith Park Deluxe) was starting to show some serious wear. I've had this bag for only about a month at this point, and it's been to three countries, eight states, and traveled 18000 miles. From how tough this bag feels I feel confident that it will last me at least as leg as the old bag, probably much longer. For now, those are the thoughts I have about the bag. Right now I don't have anything bad to say. I've only had it for a month, so I will most definitely be updating this review more. ------------------------------------------------------- First edit, 9/8/16: Yesterday I was caught in an unexpected torrential downpour. It took me a long time to get somewhere where I could really take cover, as I was walking home through a residential area with no stores or building that I could go in to get out of the rain. I was in a torrential downpour for nearly 10 minutes. When I did get home, I was soaked to the bone. It was a really serious storm, at the worst you could not see 25 feet ahead through the rain, and road drains were overflowing for hours afterwards. After changing in to dry clothes, I walked over to the bag fearing that everything inside would be dripping wet. My laptop, My iPad, my pilot logbook, lots of valuable stuff. Imagine my surprise when I opened up this bag to discover that there was no wetness in the inside of this bag that I could detect at all. Even around the zippers, the only damp part was the little bits of grey fabric trim that go underneath the zipper tracks, and they were just barely damp around the top. I totally emptied the backpack and felt around. No wetness anywhere. On the outside, the exterior fabric had already mostly dried, the only thing that was still wet after 20 minutes was the back padding on the outside, but this dried after an hour of sitting in front of a fan. I am super impressed. eBags does not mention anywhere that this bag is waterproof or water resistant anywhere on amazon or on their website. I knew that before getting this bag and before getting caught in the storm, and thought I was out of luck in regards to the electronics in my bag, but the fact that this bag handled the torrential rain so well is a testament to how much this thing rocks. No complaints so far. ------------------------------------------------------- Second Update: September 7th, 2017: I've been using this bag every day for more than one year now. I still am as much in love with it as I was when I initially wrote this review. This is the longest period of time that I have ever used one bag as my every day bag. I have been rough with this bag for a whole year, and The bag is still in brand new condition except for the bite marks one of the adjustment straps that my dog got to, which is no fault of the bag. I still highly recommend this bag.

I adore this backpack. I've been ever searching for the perfect bag to carry all my tech on the go. I'm something of a tech-boy scout in the sense that I like to have my bag filled with a solution to every possible situation I may encounter. Enough cables for all my devices and spares in case friends may need to borrow one. A small power strip, room for my laptop and all my other accessories etc. And with this plethora of various this and that's the one thing that was also vitally important to me was organization. I'm the complete opposite of someone who can just toss everything into the main backpack compartment and is willing to dig and sift through the items later on. I want everything to be where I put it and not move around, I want to be able to locate and find my desired cable, or item in a moments notice with no hassle of sorting through a sea of miscellaneous junk. The backpack I was using before was a North Face Recon backpack. A great pack, though a little light on the padding. It provided a decent enough solution but lacked any proper rigidity and the fewer pockets meant less organization. I bought this backpack on a slight whim. I had seen it before when previously backpack shopping and really loved the side opening pocket on the front for cables, power banks, general accessories that are fairly easy to access. I ended up avoiding it initially because I wanted something slightly slimmer with a lower profile. I definitely underestimated this backpacks profile. This thing has ample space for eveything I want to carry. The laptop padded compartment is great but my own use of a 12'' macbook retina does seem to just get swalloewd up in the space. This won't be an issue for most who use an average sized laptop. The hidden tablet compartment, and all the additional pockets are simply wonderful. Even with this thing filled to the brim with my crap it's still super sleek. It's low-key design with no blaring logos or brand stickers make it look almost stealth like. And even when filled to the capacity it still is far slimmer than most other packs out there. As far as padding goes, the straps do leave a little to be desired. I appreciate the two retractable handles and the ability to disconnect the straps and hide them away, but the straps aren't padded very well, however the back of the pack is padded wonderfully. I'd high recommend this pack for anyone looking for a good general tech bag that they can use to organise they're daily carry or supplies for a trip.

I have a bit of an obsession with backpacks. I've always been a tomboy and the whole purse thing never worked for me. This is the best backpack I've ever had. I'm amazed how long it too before I found all the pockets, slots and options this has to offer. I've probably wasted months hunting for one thing or another. Both men and women can relate to the frustration of a long, annoying purse hunt followed by the inevitable, "I can never find anything in here". You can find everything in here, every time, and fast. The front pouch is the best part. Unzip it, and it swing open. Instead of digging, you can see everything through the zipped meshed pouches. In front of the the pocket that swings open is a slot for your tablet. Near the top handle is one for your phone. If you want it wider add, the foam inserts, want ti thinner take them out. The front chest clips are perfect for when you're on Sherpa duty with two tons of school books. Personally, I take an extra large carabiner, and clip my dogs leash above it so I can walk my dog hands free. This bag has a place for everything, and everything in its place. You will never have to go hunting for anything with an ebag. Oh, and if that's not enough, it is stylish and the perfect color to go with anything you're wearing. The perfect combo of function and fashion statement. Ladies, take my advice. Ditch the purse, and find everything in here!

Amazing backpack if you're having storage space issues. Very nice quality. Love the look of the bag. I have zero complaints. Probably my favorite's laptop bag ever
